Quality cut at cheap pricing, have gone several times and seen several different stylists and all cuts have come out great. (I have a thinning/ receding hairline, and always let the barber know that I am trying to hide it without it being too obvious, they always get the job done.) Atmosphere is great/ friendly/ fun/ clean. Surprised they do not charge more. For those complaining, I'd challenge them to get a better cut at the same price. Booking online is easy, I always wait last minute (by accident) and always find a slot. They should not be cutting hair. I asked for a skin fade and this is what they came up with. Then on the top of my head, the hair in the back is TWICE AS LONG as the hair in the front. I have no idea how a barber can conceivably do that unintentionally. The workers are nice people, but absurdly terrible barbers. Will never return. read more

I've been thinking about this for a few days, but I just had a bad experience here. I've always preferred these type of barbershops to big box ones because I've had the best experience in all of them except for when I came here last week. I'm not expecting to be best friends with the barber ever, but I've never been treated like a sheep getting sheered. For all the haircuts I've ever gotten, nothing has lasted less than a half hour and this barber got me in and out in about 10 minutes. She was going quickly with her clippers not seemingly caring at all about my hair and the kicker was she was watching a video on her phone the ENTIRE time she cut my hair! It's a terrible introduction to Hoboken since I just moved her a few weeks ago. I was really looking forward to this haircut based on the reviews, but sadly I got treated like just another dollar. I can't give this a one-star based on one barber. All the people who were getting their haircut before me seemed to be getting taken care of by their barbers. I wish I had some pictures to show but I had to go to a new barber and get it fixed. I like wearing my hair long, I'd been growing my hair for 4 months so it was time to get a trim. I wanted to trim about an inch off the top to bring it even with the back and then buzz around the ears and fade it into the top and back. Although it sounds similar by the description, I did NOT want a mullet. So I brought some pictures to show the barber. I made sure to remind him that I liked my hair long and this was just a trim/clean up and that I DID NOT want a mullet. The barber cut my hair so much shorter than I wanted before I even had a chance to react. He did that for the entire top and for most of the back except for one section of hair near the back hairline. I was left with a short men's haircut with this beaver tail in the back. I asked the barber to bring the back hairline up a bit and reminded him that I DID NOT WANT A MULLET. Instead of fixing it he insisted that it wasn't a mullet, that it was just thick in the back (a lie since most of the back was cut short except for this one section), and that this is the look I was going for. There is a modern stylish take on the mullet which admittedly isn't far off from what I was looking for. This was not it. This was a mullet was something you'd find in a trailer park. At first I thought maybe I wasn't clear with what I wanted, and if that was the only problem I'd be OK. But when I got home I realized that not only did he give me the wrong haircut, he also did a terrible job. It was longer on one side than the other, uneven all over, and the fade line wasn't straight at all. I went to another barber to fix it days later who discovered even more sloppy, uneven work in my hair. Not only was this an awful haircut but now I am stuck with short hair until it grows back when all I wanted was a trim and a cleanup around the ears. I am giving 2 stars because I have gotten a good, standard, men's haircut there before from a different barber. But, if you're looking for a standard men's haircut at an affordable price in Hoboken, go to Mr. L's on Park and 6th. read more

I always pass by Stags when going to yoga. It has decent amount of customers and looks legit. When my husband is looking for a new barber, I recommended Stags. Definitely a mistake and I shouldn't have recommended Stags based on face value. He made an appointment one evening. He felt very rushed while being the only customer there. Let me be clear - this negative review is because Stags Only is misrepresenting prices on their website. I booked an appointment for a $15 beard trim on their website, but I was charged $25 afterwards because they apparently haven't updated the prices online to reflect current prices (the staff present in the shop agreed this was the case). My barber was friendly, the beard trim she did was good, I tipped her accordingly for a job well done...but being forced to withdraw money at their ATM to pay almost double the advertised price really rubbed me the wrong way and soured the otherwise decent experience. read more

I can't speak for the other barbers but Joey El Choppo most definitely has no idea what he's doing. I asked dude for a fade and it was completely uneven in the back and left a bald spot along the side. I needed a skin fade and he literally gave me a 1 fade and couldn't even line up my beard. What I don't understand is how are they allowed to charge so much when this dude has obviously never been to school for this and did a sloppy job lol. Sad case. Did an online reservation which was pretty easy. The place looks chilled and nice and clean. I went there for a haircut and a beard trim. Usually this takes around 1 hour doesn't matter where I go. However this time it only took 20 min total. The result isn't too bad actually but it felt more like a gardener is clipping a hedge... Can't complain about the price. I'm pretty particular about my hair. I've always gone to barbers who know how to do a great fade in the past. I decided to tryout The Clubhouse Barber Shop and waited for what seemed like the owner or manager to give me a cut. I will say, it's nice to be able to schedule an appointment here. Anywho, I got a cut and shave on this day and it came out extremely mediocre. I would equate it to a supercuts quality hair cut. Why do I say this? He didn't fade my sideburns into the beard, it's just a harsh line there. I got an undercut and he didn't fade in the side where I push my hair towards, so you see another harsh line where he stopped cutting. He never asked me how I want the back cut (rounded, square, and skin fade/single guard). I'm just overall really unimpressed by the cut. It is a very nice barbershop inside and it's what you would expect from the typical barbershop atmosphere -- fun, good conversation, laid back. I've been a customer for many years with Joey as my barber and would never go to another barber shop even if the haircut was free. I always leave with a smile on my face, extremely satisfied with my haircut and beard trim. It is easy to book appointments online or call in for bookings. They accept walk-ins, but prefer appointments especially since the pandemic. Joey always takes his time to ensure my cut comes out perfect every time. Had a horrible experience here the other day, totally unprofessional. With the level of competition for barbers in Hobo/JC/NYC, we should all set the bar relatively high. At the least, the standards for me are professionalism and craftsmanship. This place lost me on both. Story below if you want to hear about the horrible experience. So I was leaving for Thailand on Saturday night and booked an appointment with, for the sake of this review let's call him Zoey, for 9am that morning. As you could imagine, my schedule was tight, still needed to run my last minute errands before I flew out for a few weeks and i'm looking like a shaggy dog. I needed this cut more than oxygen. I get to the Barber shop at 8:55 am and only Mike is there. He goes "Did Zoey not call you? He's not going to be able to make it in until later. Much later." That was the first sour note in a series of events that could pretty much be case study for a new handbook titled "HOW TO EXCEL AT BEING UNPROFESSIONAL". I then ask Mike for Zoey's number to hear it from the horses mouth. When I finally get in contact with him, he says, "did Mike not tell you, not going to make it for your appointment." He's slow and slurring, he's clearly hungover. He tells me he's just getting into his car and he's not going to be in for another 20-25 minutes. I tell him that's fine, it's a bad situation but I desperately need this hair cut--so I tell him that i'll stick around for him to get in. He then has the audacity to tell me that I need to call into the shop and schedule an appointment for later. NEWSFLASH: I'm in the shop! It was at that point I knew I needed to find a new barber. We exchange word and I hang up and made my way down Washington to a sick shop on 10th street. In the figurative handbook on HOW TO EXCEL AT BEING UNPROFESSIONAL, here's where Zoey killed it: 1) If you're going to cancel on a client, DON'T give him the courtesy of calling him PRIOR to the appointment to cancel. Make him wake up early and walk 20 minutes like a sucker (especially on a Saturday morning!) 2) If you as the barber are canceling, DON'T make every accommodation to fit him in ASAP (after all, you're the one canceling so it's okay if he's SOL). 3) And most importantly, DON'T deliver the bad news yourself--always punk out and have your co-worker deliver it for you. To be honest, it was the least professional experience I've had to deal with from a grown man. It was sad. I won't speak for the whole shop, and I won't speak ill against the other barbers in the shop. But as far as I'm concerned, this was completely unacceptable. It's a poor reflection on that barber, and a poor reflection on management. There are a ton of really good barber shops in JC/Hobo/NYC that all deliver relatively the same experience, so before you book, ask yourself if you're looking for a professional who takes pride in his craft or if you want some punk who may or may not be there for your appointment. UPDATE: The owner personally reached out to me an apologized within one day. Very nice guy, and even went as far to extend a complimentary hair cut to me. Had to decline for obvious reasons, but the fact that their management does listen to feedback is great. This feels like a 'one bad apple spoils a bunch' situation but I'll let others decide for themselves. read more

Clubhouse Barber saved my dads reputation! Came to NJ to see my parents, who I had not seen in over two years. When my dad stepped out of the car, I noticed the horrific mullet he had grown. So first things first, we ate and went to get a vacation haircut to clean up that mess! The team at Clubhouse barber, especially Mike, came to the rescue! When i walked in was greeted and immediately felt at ease. Great shop, Free drinks, Great Haircut. REALLY reasonably priced compared to surrounding barbers. I had been looking to make a change because I felt my barber was no long attentive, so when I caught wind of a new shop opening up down the street from me, I booked an appointment to check it out. Without any clear expectations, I walked into Clubhouse and was immediately impressed. The atmosphere was inviting and the experienced staff was friendly. I have now been going there for four months, every other week. They include a ton of little extras in your cut, like a straight razor, hot towel, not to mention my appointments are always on time. Rude, unprofessional and genuinely disrespectful environment. Called an Uber in the pouring snow this morning to ensure I was able to make it to my appointment and arrived 7 minutes late. Was ignored by both staff members in the building then greets extremely uncomfortably. Was chastised by the gentlemen at the front door who was going and counting minutes of tardiness like a school teacher. After that he went to the back to "see if I could be acomedated" I was told nobody was available to help me as they said " I could come back later" following this I left and stated I wouldn't be back. Treated my husband to an upscale barbershop experience for his birthday. My husband was impressed with the talent of Mike who gave him a great fade and hot shave. He also received the hangover treatment which he said the mask never made his face so soft in his life. He had never had a hot shave before and was pampered for about 45 mins.
