When my favorite barber left on maternity leave I had to find someone to fill the void in my life so I thought it would be as good a time as any to try some new highly rated, yet equally priced (under $25), barbers near my home or work to find a worthy backup. This brought me to Prime Barber Shop. The place is very modern, clean, and spacious. Not sure why they had such a large receptionist desk like they were a high end salon where the place was really just your standard men's barber shop. I came here after work one day and the place was empty. There wasn't any TVs or music so between that and the emptiness the vibe felt a little off. There were two middle aged Russian barbers (a man and a woman) and I ended up with the man (I apologize I forgot to get his name). He was very nice and soft-spoken and his haircutting style followed suit. It was extremely gentle, so much so that I wasn't entirely confident he was getting the buzzer or fingers as close to the scalp as possible, it barely felt like I was getting a haircut. Overall I was happy with my haircut. I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had and adding the tax onto the $25 haircut made it slightly more expensive than I normally pay. I'm not sure I'd be back but I did appreciate their buy 5 get 1 free card and their relatively generous hours of operation so a return trip isn't out of the question. read more

This place blew my mind and expectations! I forgot to get a cut before my vacation to NY and stumbled upon this place. The lady cut my hair and it felt so homey. It felt like having your mom cut your hair but in a style you actually want! She took her time and would take breaks to make sure everything looked good and aligned. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was in the barber's chair at the exact time for which I'd scheduled. PLEASE do NOT take your KIDS here. I'm not a huge fan of paying $50 for my children to have a trim so I normally use barbers. My 4yr old son has always been amazing and never moves during haircuts. In 4 years we've never had a problem. We used to come here before it was taken over by the current owners so decided to give them a go. Long story short: the barber CUT my son's ear with the ELECTRIC RAZOR! BLOOD was pouring out and wouldn't stop. The barber and owner didn't even tell me (I also have a 2 year old so was following her around and for a minute wasn't standing near my son). I noticed the barber and owner acting odd and talking quietly in Russian and looking my way so I went over and saw they'd cut my son's ear. There was a ridiculous amount of blood. I cannot believe they didn't tell me what had happened-Strike #1. Then I ask the owner for the barber's name. He tells me that barber has only been working there 2 days and he doesn't know his name. WHY the hell would you let him cut a child's hair if you don't know if he's good with children. Strike #2. Then he asked me not to write a bad review about his barbershop. Really? How about you be a little more concerned about who you hire and making sure you don't injure children instead of worrying about the review I give you. DISGUSTING. My son needed STITCHES because of your incompetence. read more
