Everything I have gotten from Bastille has always been awesome, and don't have the fear of knowing that someone will have it, as I do with Urban Outfitters. Plus, it's local and we gotta boost dem local bizzzz. My favorite thing overall is when they have sales and whatnot, you get a personalized email from the person that helped you before, letting you know you have first pick for the sales - that makes this business jump into a better category than any other clothing store I've been to in SLC. Maybe earlier and more aggressive mark downs would help turn over inventory quicker? When something is months old, it should go on sale. I've mostly shopped at the gateway location and despite some choppy customer service have remained a steady customer for especially their Gstar jeans. This week I got the regular presale email. Lots if regular items on Sale, a presale plus 10 % off everything in store for preferred customers. As I arrived I was greeted without anyone telling me about sale. I found a bunch of racks with red dot on tags but when I asked what dots were for (hoping presale) I was told it was marked for inventory purposes only. I found a nice dress in the regular sale area marked down to $100. As I was paying I pulled up my email and asked about the 10 % off. The man behind the register answers that that is for presale only. I said "well what's presale items then?" I get a reply from another associate that everything marked in red dots is 40 % off for presale customers. "Oh, we'll I wish I would have known that was all on sale, I wasn't told when I asked" I replied. After having gone through all those clothes thinking they were regularly priced I simply didn't have it in me to go through them all again. Frustrating. "So what about 10 % on everything in store as listed in email?" I show him the email. He replies that he can give the 10 % but that I will have to pay now and pick up dress on Saturday. Why??? Talk about making it difficult for someone trying desperately to shop the sale in their store. Argh!!! I waited for him to be decent and give me the 10% off since the sale and extra discount was the whole reason I made the special trip there and now I missed both. Silence. I finally said "oh well I guess it's not worth $10 for me to come all the way back here on Saturday". Clueless of golden opportunity to treat a loyal customer with some proper customer service, he took my $100 and wished me a good day. Felt like stomping out of there like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. "Big mistake, HUGE"! The money doesn't bother me really but how easily he dismissed and confused a clearly loyal customer who was trying to get the deal the email had advertised. In today's economy, that kind of "service" is downright stupid.

Although it is like many retailers focused on the surfing, skater, and snowboard communities (like Zumiez, Vans, etc.), Volcom's focus seems more on the clothes than the accessories. So, if you, your spouse, and your kids all vibe with Volcom's style, you'll all be able to find things to wear, especially in the summer: A lot of swimsuits and board shorts, tees, caps, sandals, rash guards, hoodies, jeans, and flannel. My only beef is with the sizes ... not much for the big, not much for the tall. While not a lot many jaw-dropping outlet mall prices, their current "Essentials Kit" of 2 tees, 1 pant, 1 hoodie, and 1 hat is an excellent and well-priced way to get indoctrinated into the Volcom way.

I was here on an errand for someone, actually, so I came looking specifically for a long sleeve Patagonia shirt. They had plenty! They do feature a lot of Patagonia, Hippytree, Cotopaxi, and Naturebacks among others, including a few things with their own house brand. It's primarily clothing, and I didn't really look too much into the gear stuff. They had some nice sweatshirts, tees, and long tees. With those brands, you can imagine that they're not giving the stuff away. Long tees were anywhere from $25 to $50. That's about par for the course on the stuff, so not unreasonable so far as comparison shopping goes. I dig the vibe, I dig what they're into. It's a small store so you can pretty much peruse everything and see what they're about in one trip, but with changing inventory you have plenty of reason to come back again.

Definitely has the mountain vibe that compliments the nearby mountain ranges! One of the owners, Amber, was super friendly and helpful and I really loved the selection of clothing and accessories in the store. And help is an understatement. He spent THREE hours finding the exact right boot, measuring the flex in my ankle, looking at my feet, asking me about my skiing. THEN he made me wonderful new foot beds, warmed the Solomon boots and waited for them to mold to my feet. The next day skiing I realized I have never ever had a better boot: super strong to withstand very hard skiing and yet I had no pain whatsoever. It was simply an amazing miraculous experience. JP will soon be discovered so I recommend rushing to the Alta Lodge DPH or whichever branch he is in and quickly buying the best boots of your life. The whole experience was incredible and everyone else in the shop couldn't have been nicer either.

The next day Joy took all necessary measurements and got things rolling. Just over three weeks later, Bill, the installer, brought the draperies, hardware and tools to get the job done very efficiently.
