They did it with kindness. Keep in mind there were over 40 other patrons in the store at the time. The selection of women's clothes is also quite extensive and they have a great couch to sit in and relax when your spouse is trying on clothes! All tags were the on it including the Koo De Ker label. I was asked by the young woman if I had the receipt. I said, no it was a gift and I wanted to exchange for a smaller size. She indicated that I was too late to return or exchange. She could even get up off her perch to see if their was one that I could buy (and sell the other one on Posh Mark). Unbelievable! It's not like I've waited until February to bring something back. Koo De Ker should mark on their labels their return policy on gifts! As I left I said, "I guess I won't be back, but you don't even care". Her response was "no I don't". I get it! It's a small boutique store but SERIOUSLY! I heard about Animalia through a friend of a friend. I've been on the hunt for a bulk shop since I…read moregot to Utah, so I was very excited to find them despite them being almost a 40min drive from my place. I also heard that they do offer food composting for 60 cents a gallon out back which was a godsend since my new 'hood doesn't do composting (and it's too early in the season to use for planting). The shop is super cute, clean and organized. Parking is very easy out front (no payment required). The vibrant woman working there was ultra helpful and friendly (she even remembered to text me when one of the products I asked about came in). She showed us around and let us know how things worked. I ended buying a lot more than I planned (including their kombucha! cinnamon apple -- yum!), and I am happy with all of their products so far. The rose deodorant is amazing. I have yet to try the epsom salts, but am excited to. The shop overall is a little bit expensive, but I'd much rather pay more to live responsibly. Composting price is a steal though -- definitely my go-to now.

Isn't it funny how that sometimes happens? They were both friendly and helpful, explaining how to dispense the bulk products, and happily answering questions. A small thing that is such a helpful idea, is that they accept donated reusable containers, so if you forget your own, or, like me, happen upon the shop without having previously planned on stopping by, you are free to use any of these bottles! The bulk goods consist of body, beauty, and home products. Featured brands are recognizably good ones: EO, Biokleen, Mountain Rose Herbs, and Meow Meow Tweet (you can even grab a bit of their well-reviewed natural deodorant!). In addition to the bulk offerings, they sell regular size natural makeup and beauty products, lots again from Meow Meow Tweet, Fat and the Moon, and others. They even have reusable period pads and cups. SLC, you're getting so progressive! In addition, there were creative planters and ceramic containers, gorgeously fragranced candles, a variety of incense, clever greeting cards, notebooks and other stationary, pretty reusable totes and bags, and jewelry. Most (maybe all?) are hand crafted, some locally. There was even a small rack of vintage clothing! Prices are reasonable; though do not expect overly cheap bulk prices. Living in Southern California and not being familiar with florists in the Salt Lake City area, it could have been an issue when I was tasked with coordinating the flowers for a surprise proposal for a young couple. However, from the moment I emailed Stefanie, I knew I was in excellent hands. I was able to share with her some inspiration photos as well as some of the darling couple. We discussed flower colors and more information about the young couple. We discussed over the next few weeks, both via emails and on the phone, what the future groom envisioned the scene to look like and where/how he wanted the flowers placed and then the rest was up to Stefanie. There was something about how she spoke regarding designs, as well as her website photos, that allowed me to trust her vision without seeing any floral selections ahead of time. Her prices were also right in line with his budget and on the day of the proposal, I flew into SLC, and picked up the arrangements. When I entered her cute flower shop, they immediately took my breath away! She could not have done a more perfect job. She happened by chance to use a rose called Moab, which is a dusty beige, almost pale pinkish wide open rose, which just so happened to be same name of one of the very first locations this couple went to on a weekend getaway. It's those magical moments that further showed me, this was the flower designer meant for their engagement. After their private proposal, when they started sharing their photos with family and friends, the amount of gasping comments over the beautiful flowers it became apparent to everyone how stunning the florist is and how they lucked out! Stefanie captured the romantic look they both desired. If you ever need to WOW someone with flowers, look no further than The Art Floral. Stefanie and her staff are so talented, you will definitely find what you need. If they choose to get married in the area, we will definitely be using her as well!
