The benefit of this change is that Tito is more free to impart his knowledge of best practices applicable for the streets and subways of NYC without being fettered by organizational bureaucracy from half a world away.

And the teaching is very detail orientated which helps strengthen basic techniques. I started Krav a year and a half ago without ever doing any material arts and was really surprise by how easily it was to pick it up. The reason why I love doing it cause I'm learning how to defend myself in actual real life situations also picking up various martial arts technique (muay thai, bjj, boxing... Etc) along the way, and of course to stay healthy and fit!

Not only have I lost a tremendous amount of weight, I've gained so many new tools that I can use later on in life. I know they teach only a select few so I'm not allowed to really say much about the class so I'm gonna try and post as anonymously as I can. I literally feel like I'm in a family. It's something that i've never come across in my 22 years of martial arts experience. And no, its not some kind of traditional or modern martial arts class at all. It's really hard to explain but you literally feel like you're working amongst family. Passionate teachers. Friendly members. I wouldn't dare to say student simply because we're not treated like students. The experience that has been fostered has been so enlightening that I really have nothing bad to say about them. Whatever you're interested in, whether it be martial arts, self defense, losing weight etc, this group is BEST for you. IF and only IF you can make it in of course. But if you do, I can't wait to meet you.

Class time has been spent in a very efficient way, so there was quite lots of practice on situations which were very close to real. There was some blood, too. I'm just kidding. It's always good to make most of the mistakes in classes rather than in real situations. And I think CTG has done a very good job on making sure everyone performed the moves correctly and fluidly. Imagine going to ballet classes. Truly understand the stuff that one is doing is very important in order to do it right. So it's not only the amount of practice but also the friendly instructions on the details that help people master the techniques. I'm a practical person, so I want to mainly talk about the practical aspect of my experience with CTG. There were more factors about CTG that made me feel good after every time I finished a class. It's one of the place where people can learn and appreciate MMA.

First off, the gym is very clean and well kept. There's access to weights/lifting equipment if you want to warm up or even workout separately. The changing rooms are clean and private. I've been training here for 6+ months and should've left a review a while ago. This gym finds a great mix between pushing yourself past your limits to grow while still building friendships and community. Zata is the main No Gi instructor and has built a phenomenal curriculum. Each class is full of drills and technique that work well for all levels and have made me such a better grappler. Zata also teaches at a fast pace, which while sometimes is difficult, is extremely necessary for becoming comfortable with live training. Zata also welcomes everyone like family and in a sport where it can be frustrating, intimidating, and uncomfortable, he's exactly who you want in your corner. I would hands down recommend this place to absolutely everyone and anyone who is interested in martial arts, self defense, and exercise. Anytime I'm in NYC, you know I'll be here.

I signed up for a 20 hour womens' self defense class, it was 5 hours over 4 Sundays and it was intense but one of the best experiences I've ever had and incredible important. I didn't realize before taking the class, how vulnerable and unprepared I was should anything happen to me. Most people freeze and unfortunately, that hesistation could be the difference between getting away/saving your life or something happening to you. Prepare's classes do "prepare" you by setting up training sessions where they try to put you in that 'adrenalized' state - they set up mock attack scenarios and harassment scenarios that are about as real as you can get in a simulation and it really does get your adrenaline going. But by training you over and over again in how to deal with different scenarios (grabbed from behind, taken down, other unpleasant things), you engrain your responses and the correct techniques for dealing with each scenario in your muscle memory and hopefully, in the event that something does happen, you will just remain calm, conserve your energy, and be able to remember what to do and hopefully protect yourself and get away safely. The instructors and assistants are amazing and it just felt like a safe environment. Very supportive, no judgement and everybody was there for each other. It's really emotional and for some, traumatic, putting yourself in these scenarios and trying to train yourself physically and mentally in what to do and how to respond - but I have to say that my experience was very positive and I feel much more prepared at least that should something happen to me, that I would have the tools and know-how to give myself a chance to protect myself and hopefully save myself. I highly recommend taking their self defense courses. I will periodically go back for refreshers because I really think that this is such an important thing for everybody to know.
