Nothing to rave about this place, but it's a cute little spot in Huntingdon, PA. So far, I've had the following: - Crab meat soup - a bit salty but pretty good - Standing Stone Florentine - filling but could be more flavorful, in my opinion (I'd like to taste more of that pesto!) - Speedball (aka red eye) coffee - solid coffee - Chocolate Amore - sweet and dark. You could definitely smell and taste the cherry/fruity and vanilla notes of amaretto in that drink. - Frosted mint matcha - sweet, minty-refreshing, and vanilla-y. I would've liked it to be less sweet and be stronger in matcha flavor, but it's a good sweet non-coffee drink if you're looking for that. read more

Come only if you have 20-25m to wait if you are not white. I ordered two coffees and a sandwich. Two days in row I waited for about 20-25m. Maybe it was me. Maybe I'm brown. Idk but what I know is people who ordered after me got their order before me. When I made them aware they told me some things cook faster than others. I ordered a ham and cheese for the love of God. When I told her I want to cancel it she told me it should take only a minute. What am I missing here?! Then what the heck is on the menu that is made less than a minute?! I watched her make my order from beginning to start. It took her 3m. So not sure how others got their orders before me and no, they were not all call ahead orders. The day before there were 4 people working and two customers. Mind boggling!!! Hey Greg. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I ordered a ham and cheese panini, as you said that should be a quick order but it still took 25m. To ensure there is no favoritism you said they make it in order but people who ordered after me still got their order first. I watched and heard them order. I really wanted to dismiss it as this could have been an off day. However, it was the same thing the day before. There were two customer in the store, 4 employees, and I was one of the two customers. After I placed my coffee order the work crew just chatted for a while before they even got to my order. I stood there waiting as they just continued on with their conversation. Finally, I got my two coffees 15-20m later. Do you think that is excusable? I mean they just conversed as if I wasn't even there. I waited so long I had to add a sandwich because my kids got hungry. Our plan was to grab coffee and go to the cabin and eat there. Then another 15m for the sandwich. again ham and cheese panini. I really wasn't going to go back the next day but my kiddo really wanted that panini for boat ride. read more

For a town that doesn't have Starbucks or another specialty coffee shop, Standing Stone is an excellent choice‼ I'm not sure the barista knew foam could be forced through the milk to make a flavored coffee, but she was happy to experiment. I love the food here. They have lots of healthy options and the coffee is awesome. The people who work here also seem super friendly and contribute a lot to the great environment of the business. I love that they switch up their coffee menu and seem to support the community. The one time I went in, there was paintings that local kids had done all over the walls. What a hidden gem in the heart of Huntingdon. Friendly staff, cool art on the walls, plenty of seating and the roast their own beans! My wife was sad to only have discovered this place on the way out of town after a week long stay but I know we will be back! Their breakfast foods were awesome. Just wasn't a good visit. First of all, my husband could not get waited on. Stood at the counter and was completely ignored for 15 min while one was on the phone and the others I guess working. When finally we were able to ordered after being acknowledged, they ran out of coffee. The coffee wasn't anything g great. Then ugh the food took FOREVER to get. We waited a good 30 min for just two simple breakfast items. The food itself was ok. Nothing that should have taken so long to get to our table. I hate writing negative reviews but this one was a given. Won't be back here! read more

The only thing I would say to a person considering is that because everything is so carefully prepared (and so so so yummy) sometimes it takes a little longer than a large-scale restaurant. What an awesome cafe! This place has a very homey and welcoming feel to it right as you walk in! The food and drinks were delicious, well portioned, and fairly priced. And to top it all off the workers were super friendly! Highly recommend ordering one of their paninis--they are amazing. Also a cafe that serves spiced hot apple cider?? I'd come back for that alone. Went in for the first time, and expected to get in and out. Ordered 3 smoothies, and they all came out within 5 minutes. We also ordered 3 of the same breakfast items, (which were VERY simple to make and we thought they would be quick due to us not wanting to stay inside) and it took them 40 minutes to make. The breakfast items came with 3 slices of an orange, and I had black stuff on mine therefore I did not eat them. The wait was terrible! Their hospitality was awful, did not even inform us it would take a while, (nor did they apologize for taking such a long time) and so we were not even sure our food was being made as the employees were messing around in the back. This place was not worth the 40 minute wait for simple food and drink items. read more

Looking for high quality coffee? This is the place! The owners craft incredible blends of coffee they source directly and roast in house. I've tried multiple blends and haven't found one yet that wasn't incredible. SSCC also offers a nice menu with some seasonal specials, multiple tempting and delicious baked goods, and several tea options. The food is made while you wait, and sometimes that may mean a little while, but it's always been worth it! It's a great place to sit back, sip something yummy, have a nice meal (or treat!), and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

I am not the typical coffee shop girl, but Standing Stone may have sparked something in me that I didn't know existed! It made me excited to drink coffee. The coffee is strong, dark, aromatic, and delicious. They have soy milk, which is a plus and was unexpected. The atmosphere is spectacular. It's warm and cozy while being clean and somewhere you can sit by one of the large windows and curl up with a book, or get some work done. I absolutely loved Standing Stone. The menu is amazing. The salads are huge, fresh and delicious, for such a reasonable price. It makes you want to come back over and over! Standing Stone was something Starbucks could never be, anymore. read more

The coffee here is unbelievable. Literally some of the best coffee I've ever had; they sell it at various locales around State College so I decided to check out the actual shop. The food is just ok, I was here doing work for a few hours and tried a few things off the menu but didn't have anything to write home about. Daughter is considering Juniata & we stayed nearby for a visit, so decided to try this place on our way home since it was supposedly run by an alum. Cute set-up inside & nice outdoor seating. Appreciate the attached coin laundry option for students & the plethora of boardgames. Coffee was tasty. Service is slow, but that's okay if it's made-to-order, you're there to relax, or doing laundry. Can see it as a problem if you're a student trying to get to a class. Not sure how long they've been open, so will assume they're still working out the kinks. Will take a locally owned business over a Starbucks any day. That said, while waiting to place our order, we saw the sorriest looking breakfast sandwich waiting to find its owner. Looked like white Wonder Bread with a strip of bacon & maybe an egg in there somewhere. I ordered a coffee. There wasn't enough in the self-serve carafe to fill my cup. No biggie, but when I let an employee know, she seemed annoyed. I kept checking back to see if it was filled. 30+ minutes later, there was finally some Breakfast Blend available. That is not okay, when you're a coffee shop. Still, I put $1 in the refill jar when I finally filled up my cup (they request $1.50 per refill, which is okay, depending on how it's brewed, but since I barely got 1/2 cup to begin with, I thought $1 more than fair). One of two bathrooms were out of toilet paper. Again, keep in mind the place was not swamped, so I think there's a lot of work to be done with regard to timing, preparation, organization, & logistics. Daughter order a cheese, tomato & pesto panini, & while good (as it should be since it took 25 min to make, even though it wasn't crowded), it was less a panini and more a grilled cheese sandwich. She raved about the pesto. My friend enjoyed the breakfast burrito with orange slices on the side. Friend's drink also took over 20 minutes to make. They use fresh fruit in their drinks apparently, until they run out & switch to frozen, so kudos for that, too. I have to wonder how it is when school is in full-swing, but again, they come off as fairly new, & props to whomever took the risk to bring a little place like this to Huntingdon. I hope it works out. We will be back, for sure. But if it's functioning the same way 1-2 years from now, that's a problem. Best of luck! read more

Came in and ordered two coffees, one was a mocha which was delicious, and the other was Ethiopian ground coffee, which they didn't have any made, so I asked for a pour over (as opposed to french press) and the barista took the time to make the single cup of coffee I asked for instead of saying it wasn't available. Love their variety of blends and their french press coffee. Their atmosphere is amazing, and I love the board games and the local experience you get when you come here.
