This was one of the best experiences in terms of customer service, niceness, politeness, and just plain being professional and helpful! It was a Sunday, we had been having some weird experiences with the Altima locking and unlocking ad litem.....And when it decided to do it on its own sometimes it would turn all the accessories on too, so after a day of sightseeing we return to the car in the little but absolutely stunning community Of Banff in the province of Alberta in Canada. Here on Sunday other than tourist attractions it's quiet and conservative. Banff is a resort town in the province of Alberta, located within Banff National Park. The peaks of Mt. Rundle and Mt. Cascade, part of the Rocky Mountains, dominate its skyline. On Banff Avenue, the main thoroughfare, boutiques and restaurants mix with château-style hotels and souvenir . The surrounding 6,500 square kilometres of parkland are home to wildlife including elk and grizzly bears Did you know: The mountains in Banff National Park are believed to be between 45 million and 120 million years old. We were on our last day of vacation and our rental truck got a flat tire in what seemed to us to be the middle of nowhere. We were able to make it to the Peter Lougheed Discovery Centre right before they closed and were able to use a pay phone to call the rental car company. They sent Eli from Standish Towing & Recovery. Eli was definitely our angel that day. He was able to change the tire with a smile on his face. We apologized to him for having to drive so far and he said he didn't mind at all. He chatted with us and was so pleasant and comforting. We figured we were going to be sleeping in the truck that night but Eli definitely saved the day. He was very professional and courteous. I stupidly ran out of gas close to Lake Louise during weekday work hours. Unfortunately, there is no towing service there, so I was connected to Standish Towing and Recovery in Banff by 411. Standish answered the phone right away and dispatched a truck with 10L of gas promptly, and I received a call from the driver that he was on hist way: ETA about 25 minutes. So far so good. About 40 minutes later, I phoned the driver to see where he was at and he informed me that he was diverted to another call. Neither he nor the office bothered to call to inform me. Had I known this, I could have contacted someone else. Worse yet, had I not called, we would have been left stranded there indefinitely. Minutes after I contacted the driver, I received another call from another driver that he would be on his way shortly. He warned me I would not like the bill. At this point, we'd been waiting so long, and only a handful of km's from our destination, that I just wanted to get it over with. Eventually, the driver arrived with the 10L of gas. For the privilege of having my service take about 3 times as long as it should have to be delivered to me, I was presented with a staggering bill of $389.41 ($356.58 before tax), composed of: - a $200 delivery bill (instead of charging mileage, which would have been maybe half that amount) - an $83 service charge for pouring the gas into the tank - $15 for fuel (charging $1.50/L for gas costing $1.10) - a $23.58 environmental surcharge because why not If you were following closely, you will see that the line items on the bill actually add up to $321.58, not 356.58, so on top of it all they ripped me off another $35 which they simply just took. The day was moving on rapidly, we had already been stuck there almost 2 hours: we were essentially under duress to pay up and they knew it. No apology, either, for leaving us cooling our heels for so long, though the driver did not that "at least it's not January". True enough, but I suspect it is always January in Standish Towing's cold, mercenary heart. I made 3 big mistakes that day: stupidly not monitoring my gas gauge, calling Standish, and NOT just calling a taxi company to deliver a jerry can instead. read more

This company charged a low income senior $943.30 on November 5/19. The vehicle was towed 16 km from Highway 1 to Canmore, AB. Why would it cost $ 185.38 for fuel/carbon surcharge to tow the vehicle 16 km. Also charged $170 for hookup and transport, $172 for winching, $75 for deck truck, $220 for traffic control and the fuel surcharge. I understand, the tow job took an hour. This is an outrageous bill, on a poor senior, that did not know he was taken advantage of. A call to the company regarding the bill was unanswered. read more

6/10 lugs broke off my Ram 5500 1 ton truck. I called them and they said they could handle a truck my size. They came quickly to collect my truck and charged me $495.96 to tow me to Banff 32kms away. If you use these guys for towing know they are NOT cheap nor up front on the costs read more

I had the misfortune of locking my keys in my car on a section of the forestry truck road west of Sundre, Ab. Standish towing was contacted by AMA. The service was excellent. Both the rescue truck driver Quentin and the individual who responded via telephone to the call interacted in a polite, professional, patient, kind and empathetic manner. Service was prompt and respectfully carried out. I would definitely recommend them for your towing and or recovery needs. read more

These guys could be the rudest on the road. Speeding in winter conditions.. they'll cause the accident then over charge you to get you out. That's if they aren't parked illegally somewhere taking up what few spots are available for tourists. Save yourself the trouble and Call anyone else before this company. We were stranded in the middle of nowhere on 93 and Dave came to the rescue. He went above and beyond in every way! He gave us recommendations for mechanics nearby and drove us through downtown Banff on the way to the shop to show us what was within walking distance. Not to mention he had a super friendly personality, which actually made the two hour drive in the tow truck cab an enjoyable experience. He even took the extra time to make sure our storage basket on the hitch didn't scrape the ground as he loaded/unloaded our truck from the tow bed. This guy is a pro! read more

If I could make this less than one star, I would. Let me just say that keys got locked inside the car and we had to wait for someone to come and help unlock our car. I understand customer service is a hard enough job but the person that came and helped with our car was completely rude upon meeting him. A Chinese man that didn't even bother to introduce himself. What he said to us was "You should have waved your hand, I drove around once" in the most rudest tone I have ever gotten from someone that works in customer service. And I have worked in retail. First of all, once is not enough for someone to be annoyed. Second, he had driven to a different museum that was different from what my aunt had clearly said to him. The tow truck driver, Ernest was one of the best tow truck drivers I've ever had. Gave me a ride and helped my figure out what to do while being stranded in canmore. The impound on the other hand is a dump and I had called them an hour early to make sure someone was here to meet me to get my car (there's no office) I been here waiting for a half an hour and still nobody.
