Worked a booth at the Stanislaus County Fair this past Friday. Fair staff was extremely friendly and helpful getting us to where we needed to be to set up the booth. We were in a prime location, close to rides, and the food court. We could hear the live music from around the corner. Had a large shade tree and breeze at our location, and in close proximity to the restrooms. The Fair opened at 4pm, but there were people in earlier than 4, maybe 4H or other vendors and their families. Even though it was a warm day it wasnt too bad being at the booth with the breeze. They had alot of food vendors, sale booths and rides. It was a good size Fair and the turn out was great. I enjoyed the vibe and people we interacted with. read more

A few months ago we went to the car show and swap meet, unfortunately, staff could or did not direct us to handicap parking. When asked, the young lady told us there was no handicap parking anywhere, which didn't make sense to us since the event was a huge on-going for years event and this was our FIRST time. The owners are required to advise their staff that there is handicap parking and where to go. My friend did get upset with the lady as we were there for a few hours and leaving where we entered as we exited and saw her. Her manager did not use her customer service and communication towards my friend but was disrespectful him and in front of other workers. There is a way to handle this issue via being, cool, calm, collective with the customers. read more

I like the fair experience up until we got in line for the zipper and it was pretty late and right when it turned 12 they sent everyone away and we wait for 2 hours in that line they could've gave a warning saying something like cut off is at 12 take the risk or not but no not anything! Hot, hot, HOT this mf was hot as ish. When i was there parking was easy since hardly no one was there. We didnt know that sunday was free. It was nice tho considering it was 5 of us and got in for free. The bracelet for the rides was crazy expensive for the very limited rides and for some rides u need two people. My nephew wasnt able to get on all the rides because of that. The farm animal part was alright, kinda small. One thing that sucked was one of the booths to win a super mario stuff toy. The guys running the booth got mad cuz a lil girl won a stuffed toyS i heard them speaking in spanish getting all upset cuz a lil girl won a bit stuffed animal. That just put a bad taste in my mouth. Wow! Wasn't expecting much out of this fair, but was pleasantly surprised. Drove distance about 2hrs. from Solano Co. following my Google maps redirect thru rural farm roads & cornfields to arrive in Turlock, CA. To see one of my favorite R&B bands perform, Con Funk Shun who originate from my hometown of Vallejo. $15 bucks entry fee for the fair + the concert was the deal of the century! Overall, this fair could really teach all the other fairs up & down the state something about value. A return to value before most all other fairs started gettin' all greedy & trying to rip everyone off it seems (Alameda Co. Fair, Marin Co. Fair, Solano Co. Fair, CA State Fair are you listening?). OK duh, it gets hot here in Turlock during the summer (peaking @ 102 this day), like at some of those other summertime fairs I mentioned. But, this fair has quite a few cooling stations & devices throughout the fair to keep you comfortable. Such as oversized misting fans in the foodcourt areas and air conditioning & fans in the other buildings. It also can get a bit dusty out here amid all these farmlands. A face mask might be helpful for some, idk? Fair looks small and rather underwhelming from the Archway main entrance & ticketing area, but don't be fooled, as there's quite a bit to see inside. Combined tons of booths & food vendors and a respectable amount of traditional rides. And with very decent prices all things considered. Great fair for kids too with a lot for them. $10 bucks to park, which ain't bad at all, but--even better-- Turlock transit buses were free for the week with free parking & shuttle accommodations from nearby Stanislaus State Univ. Throw out all those stereotypes you might've had about Turlock and similar nearby farming towns. It's really a charming + modern area as was exemplified by this great county fair. Will def. be on my list to return next year. Good time! read more

Idk i honestly had a great time, best fair this yr . It coulda been better like bring back the old coupon books. The deals were better. I actually made it in without issues this time so it wasn't that bad. The bands were all great. I feel like the fair upped there local entertainment. The dog racing was alright ha they didn't seem to listen well but definitely the bands from the main stage to the other stages were perfect. They had some great vendors too. If you closed your eyes while standing in the Alameda County Fairgrounds then were transported to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. You wouldn't be able to tell you had left. I had no idea what a great facility they have here. Its lush and green. Nothing like what I expected to come out of Turlock. I really don't think Turlock knows what a great thing they have here. My company threw a small convention/trade show in one of their large buildings. There was a full kitchen to be able to serve at least 250 to 400 people. Room for booths to be set up for the trade show. A stage to give presentations and plenty of table space for people to sit and eat their food. Also, there was a special treat for me because at the same time we were having our event there was also a "Blues Grass Festival" happening on the other side of the grounds. I loooove blue grass. I went over and checked them out because I'm nosy. They were camping out for the weekend. People had tents, RV's, and trucks with campers. Plenty of room to lay a blanket out and pick a banjo. I got to listen in on a great jam session. The music was so wonderful to hear. These Fairgrounds have so many little hidden gems. I tried taking pictures of everything so I could share. I don't know what other events they have here but it may be worth coming to check out. Just gorgeous and special. You are very lucky Turlock to have such a wonderful place to call your own. read more

Disappointed in the Fair this year. Understand that this is an annual event we always look forward to with great anticipation. Parking was hysterical! The North lot was closed and they sent us to the South lot which was also closed, and they sent us to the West lot. I wanted to go to the Fair, not on a tour of Turlock. The Fair itself just seemed kind of sad and dusty. No one was happy. I know it was hot, but c'mon! Even the animals were lethargic. Sigh. The grounds themselves were confusing. Where were the signs saying Main St, Exhibit Halls, Restrooms, Food Land, Arcade, etc? Not at this Fair. And the food (umm...like half the reason I go) was awful this year! Got some nachos and the liquid cheese was a weird shade of gold-GREEN! I kid you not: it was moldy or burnt or both. Nasty. Went looking for my fav game where you shoot water and it blows up a balloon and the first one to pop is the winner? You love that one too huh! Well, it sux. $5.00 will get you 10 seconds (if that) and the balloon is digital, and the whole deal is bogus. BBOOOO!!!! And please! I couldn't get a basketball to land for nothing! Way cheaper to buy a stuffed animal at CVS lol. If you need Cash, there are plenty of ATM's that will tack on a hefty surcharge...I think it cost me $5 to pull a Hundo. Beer is plentiful (thank god). Restrooms are clean and well supplied and mostly stink free. U can hear, but may not necessarily be able to see the musical entertainment without buying a ticket. Save ur $ and squint! The animal exhibits were da bomb! Lotsa babies this year! Lotsa overheated, sore boobie mommas too! Usually, I'm all in for the crafts, quilts, household gimmicky crap, all that fun stuff. I couldn't find ANY of that! Boo-hoo! I found mattresses, an over exuberant gentleman hawking cheap Tens units, the Democrat booth, the Republican booth, and that was about it. No Ninja blenders, no zucchini spaghetti makers, no cleansers for everything from your face to your furniture. No make-up or hair blow dryers, curlers and such. Way disappointing. My advice? Take the kiddies early evening so they can see all the lights! Bring ur own water (save mucho $$), stay hydrated, and appreciate what's left of what I'm thinking is becoming a dying event in Stanislaus County. read more

I remember when I was a kid, I used to look forward to the fair coming to town for weeks before it's arrival. On the surface it's the same fair. There's the exhibits, the rides, the animals, concerts, and other attractions. The smells from various types of food wafting across the fairgrounds, oh and the cinnamon rolls. Yet the excitement that used to be there seems missing. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy looking through the exhibits, having a couple of beers and possibly running into a few old acquaintances. And did I mention the cinnamon rolls? I guess its just that county fairs have a lot more competition for your time now than they did before. There are so many other things to do now. Additionally for some strange reason a few years ago the Stanislaus County Fair started running the same time as the California State Fair. The words once a sang by the late B.B. King seem most fitting now when I describe the fair experience. "The Thrill is Gone" 2-stars for the fair 1-star because the cinnamon rolls are as good as they ever were. read more

Not the best county fair I've been to but certainly not the worst either. Decided to go with a friend one perfectly cool Sunday morning when it was FREE. Yes the fair is free on Sundays before 3pm however I soon learned why. Upon entering we immediately headed to the livestock area consisting of prized cows, goats, sheep, chickens, etc. They were hammering out some of the placings I think and had the rest of them in their respective cages/pens for onlookers. I think we spent a good hour going through all those areas but were soon wanting to check out the food and rides. When we got to those areas, it was non-operational. Not sure when they were planning to fire up the rides and the grills but my excitement soon sank, then again that's what I get for being a cheep-O haha! In any case it was a nice day with nice company and we got to do other things after our brief visit. I think I do want to go back next year albeit later in the day so I can take advantage of those amusements! read more

Visited the fairgrounds for the Assyrian Festival and did the 5k yesterday. Apparently they also have an awesome farmers market that was much more amazing than the Modesto one. The festival was small but we met Beneil Darius, UFC fighter and ate really good food. We also tried a very yummy beer that I never had before. I wish we had more time to visit more vendors at the farmers market but I will definitely go back. I think someone told us it will go until October. read more

I went to go see Weird Al with my sister. He put on a fabulous show. I tried Gator for the first time. It was delicious! $5 for parking wasn't that bad. Love that they have coupon books now. Saved some money on food, which is always a good thing. They moved a lot of things around this year so it was interesting going to different buildings than last year. I saw a lot of Police Explorers, and they upped the security everywhere. I will actually be going back on Thursday to take my daughter. They are going to have Elmo and Abby, so she will enjoy that. read more

An old style county fair. It reminds me of fairs in small towns in Oklahoma & Texas. They have various rides & lots of food choices. Once you pay the admission price, various entertainment is free. There is plenty of law enforcement & therefore it seems quite safe. read more

I'm disappointed and ticked off. The fair claims that it closes at midnight but Lemme tell you, folks, they close the entrance gate before 11pm, apparently. I've never been to this county fair but when we pulled up to park, they STILL charged us full $5 for parking. Don't scoff at this complaint because there was a little over an hour left before closing...they should've just waived the fee. We asked and the attendant says if we were to roll in at around 11:10pm, they won't charge us. We parked and walked about a minute to the entrance and the very unhelpful man at the gate told us the gate is closed at 11. We beseeched him to let us in and then I checked my phone (accurate PST, by the way) and it was still 10:59!! So I told him and he says, "well my watch says 11pm" and ignored us and proceeded to lock the gate. Would he be struck by lightening from the big boss if he were to let us in?!? Jeez Louise. Thanks Stanislaus Co. Fair! Horrible service...PLUS, THEY CHARGED US for parking we didn't even use. 11:10 my butt. Never gonna try to come back. I'd say go to other county fairs or state fairs. read more

One of the funnest places to visit. I loved everything, the rides, the food, the activities and of course the free concerts. I loved how they managed to make everything so fun but also managed to let people learn about the history of Turlock and the people. I never have trouble finding parking spaces because I have many family that lives near but I know that it is difficult for other people to find parking spaces. Anyways I loved the fair because it was great, like always, and I am definitely looking forward for next years fair. read more
