Hosting the All American Rejects for the price of parking and admission was pretty dope.

If you closed your eyes while standing in the Alameda County Fairgrounds then were transported to the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. You wouldn't be able to tell you had left. I had no idea what a great facility they have here. Its lush and green. Nothing like what I expected to come out of Turlock. I really don't think Turlock knows what a great thing they have here. My company threw a small convention/trade show in one of their large buildings. There was a full kitchen to be able to serve at least 250 to 400 people. Room for booths to be set up for the trade show. A stage to give presentations and plenty of table space for people to sit and eat their food. Also, there was a special treat for me because at the same time we were having our event there was also a "Blues Grass Festival" happening on the other side of the grounds. I loooove blue grass. I went over and checked them out because I'm nosy. They were camping out for the weekend. People had tents, RV's, and trucks with campers. Plenty of room to lay a blanket out and pick a banjo. I got to listen in on a great jam session. The music was so wonderful to hear. These Fairgrounds have so many little hidden gems. I tried taking pictures of everything so I could share. I don't know what other events they have here but it may be worth coming to check out. Just gorgeous and special. You are very lucky Turlock to have such a wonderful place to call your own.

We totally had a Grand time. it's been five years since we've gone to the fair and this was a good one and Grand Funk Railroad did their thing! yesterday, they have a new fan yes we are "Flat-lining" this morning but in our mind last night we were 40 years younger. o'well That's what we do. Disappointed in the Fair this year. Understand that this is an annual event we always look forward to with great anticipation. Parking was hysterical! The North lot was closed and they sent us to the South lot which was also closed, and they sent us to the West lot. I wanted to go to the Fair, not on a tour of Turlock. The Fair itself just seemed kind of sad and dusty. No one was happy. I know it was hot, but c'mon! Even the animals were lethargic. Sigh. The grounds themselves were confusing. Where were the signs saying Main St, Exhibit Halls, Restrooms, Food Land, Arcade, etc? Not at this Fair. And the food (umm...like half the reason I go) was awful this year! Got some nachos and the liquid cheese was a weird shade of gold-GREEN! I kid you not: it was moldy or burnt or both. Nasty. Went looking for my fav game where you shoot water and it blows up a balloon and the first one to pop is the winner? You love that one too huh! Well, it sux. $5.00 will get you 10 seconds (if that) and the balloon is digital, and the whole deal is bogus. BBOOOO!!!! And please! I couldn't get a basketball to land for nothing! Way cheaper to buy a stuffed animal at CVS lol. If you need Cash, there are plenty of ATM's that will tack on a hefty surcharge...I think it cost me $5 to pull a Hundo. Beer is plentiful (thank god). Restrooms are clean and well supplied and mostly stink free. U can hear, but may not necessarily be able to see the musical entertainment without buying a ticket. Save ur $ and squint! The animal exhibits were da bomb! Lotsa babies this year! Lotsa overheated, sore boobie mommas too! Usually, I'm all in for the crafts, quilts, household gimmicky crap, all that fun stuff. I couldn't find ANY of that! Boo-hoo! I found mattresses, an over exuberant gentleman hawking cheap Tens units, the Democrat booth, the Republican booth, and that was about it. No Ninja blenders, no zucchini spaghetti makers, no cleansers for everything from your face to your furniture. No make-up or hair blow dryers, curlers and such. Way disappointing. My advice? Take the kiddies early evening so they can see all the lights! Bring ur own water (save mucho $$), stay hydrated, and appreciate what's left of what I'm thinking is becoming a dying event in Stanislaus County.

Went here on several occasions for different events and every time ran into the same issue.... not enough open bathrooms. How do you get thousands to show up and don't get them a place to poop? Really?

They do serve lunch to 2pm. We were here to have lunch and then take pictures at their lavender farm. Hopping to catch some blooming lavender. Sadly, it was mostly a green garden w not much blooming lavender. There were a few other flowers blooming tho. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) plenty of parking. 2) location was plain but pretty and clean. 3) they had like 4 to 8 tables on the front by the parking area where you walk in. I saw a few people eating there. 4) they had a beautiful wooden table in the back on the grassy area with 6 chairs around it. That's where we sat for lunch. Our reservation was at 12pm. We got seated right away. Today was perfect to eat outside. There is no indoor seating or a restaurant here. I didn't see any. 5) there is a gift shop. But we didn't make it to see the inside 6) they serve salads and sandwiches here for lunch. Very simple and short menu. Their soup of the day today was tomato bisque. 7) our sandwiches and salads tasted fine. But salads are large portions. I could have shared my chicken salad with another. Sandwiches are normal size. Enough for one person. 8) Drinks were ok. Water tasted good. No funky or metal taste to it. 9) two porter potty bathroom but clean. Not the typical blue porter potties at putdoor events. A little nicer and it flushes. 10) our server was very nice. Cons 1) it took a long time to get our meals once we ordered. We were seated at 12pm. But we didn't get our salads and sandwiches till like an hourish later. By the time our foods came out, we sat to catch up and eat, and celebrate a bday, it was like 1:45ish already. Gift shop closes at 2pm. 2) our young server seems like she's still in training. But she was good. Wish they check on their customers more often. But maybe she was the only one taking orders. I don't know. 3) Conclusion This location was nice. Clean. Pretty. There wasn't any lavender blooming when we were there. But I heard it's a hit and miss to catch it in bloom too get beautiful pictures. It's ok though. We found other areas to get nice photos in. Foods were ok. Meh. But salads looked pretty and in large portions. Chicken on the salads were perfectly made. It was juicy and not dry. Each of our plates were $18. There is a small drinks menu. With both their menus being short, it made it so much easier to order something. Love that no one rushed us out after 2pm. We were allow to take our time on the area to take photos. They were setting up for a 4pm wedding. Not to bad here.

I asked her to send me the bar options not once, or twice but three times (phone calls and emails) I called a couple of times to get information and never got a call back... so finally I decided to book with another venue. I can understand if you're busy or something but can you imagine booking with this person, and then being stuck with her! She won't even help with the easiest of tasks... Imagine on your wedding day!! My advice pay a little more and go with an actual wedding venue. The receptionist gave me more info than the wedding specialist/planner or whatever she calls herself... SAD. Also fyi, ceremonies can only be prior to their restaurant side opening. *No you can't bring your own alcohol. *No you can't bring your own caterer. *$20 for a Gallo bottle of wine that costs like $6 at a store. Or You CAN Bring your own champagne.. But subject to a $12 corkage fee (per bottle) Average beer bottle is $5 Average price is about 20+ per person for food (buffet style) Add $3 per person if you want the food to be served. Nice venue, just needs a little work on their booking and customer service. if you can look past the "what ifs" on the most important day of your life maybe give them a chance. The wall street room is nicely decorated and the brick decor is very cool. They have recently added a garden area for weddings. Sure, some people may consider a place with a nicer view but I have to give these guys a lot of credit for sprucing up the place.

This event was not advertised correctly to the public. It advertised there would be live music, vendors, concerts, food trucks and adult food. Not to mention this would be a 21 and up festival. That was not the case kids were everywhere on the first day of the event. The doors were suppose to open at 1:00pm, but opened at 1:30pm. The security was very confused as to what was going on at the fairground and was not able to answer any questions posed from the public. On September 16th, CA Soul-Food Festival emailed out important information to review for those attending the festival on the weekend. All of the items mention that were permitted, people were able to bring into the festival. I followed all of the rules and was not able to disregard anything. For example, chairs were not allowed into the festival and customer would need to rent them at the fairgrounds. This was not the case. Once, customers were admitted into the festival at 1:30pm all of the important information went out the window. People were then bringing in items that were on the prohibited list , which included about 10-15 items. On Sunday, September 18th, I emailed California Soul Food Cookout Staff, left a message and chat email requesting a refund of my money. This was a horrible event and it was very unorganized and not well-planned. What happened to the gates opening at 1:00pm? What happened to the performances starting at 3:00pm? Nothing happened at all. The entertainment was the radio and unidentified performers to satisfy the audience. Other individuals who attended the festival were extremely upset as well. I was very, very disappointed and mislead. There were less vendors as advertised. Food was not prepared and it was 2:00pm and to mention the festival was set to start at 1:00pm. the vendors were informing me and others to pay for your food and come back. WOW, the lines were so long and this was horrible. Lots of people were out on this nice sunny day and to the festival was a mess. There was no one at the festival to inform the audience of what happened or of what was going on. I left the Alameda County Fairground at 6:00pm and at that time not any of the concert singers lined up to sing were present. This was clearly a joke. I took lots of pictures and will forward them on Yelp. It's Monday and no one has contacted me yet. I am going to make sure this festival never takes place again. People paid money to attend this festival and to fall apart as it did on Saturday, Sept. 17 is very disappointing. I will never attend an event of this kind again. I an notifying the City of Pleasanton regrading this mess on Tuesday. I am hoping CA Soul Food Cookout and Festival Inc. refunds me and others our money. Just a damn shame and embarrassing to the Pleasanton community. Owner/CEO Annette Jackson, I am waiting for you to call and apologize for this cookout mess. Be the bigger person and talk to those who attended this unorganized and unplanned event. This business gets zero stars.
