I had my wedding reception there, and it was incredible. The food was so perfect, service was incredible, it was the time of our lives. Could not have picked a better place. The food was ok. No one greeted us when entering the restaurant. The server walk by and said " hey sit where ever. Service was terrible! No eye contact! No refills on drinks! I had to go up to the bar to give him our check after waiting for a long period of time for change. Floors were dirty and it smells like dirty bar drains that need to be cleaned. Went on a Wednesday evening early. Had one server, who seemed to be fairly new. Ordered a gin martini which he had to prepare as there was no bartender on. This is backwards to how most places as this operates. Usually, if you have a full bar, a bartender is first on, who acts as server also. This young man went through several glasses before settling on a gimlet glass, with warm gin and an olive. The food was ordinary at best. Couldn't find a real reason to return. read more

Tried to have dinner here last night. Haven't been here in about a year and wanted to try it again. Arrived just about 7 pm. Waited for someone to acknowledge and seat us. Cooks saw us. Bartender saw us, but was visiting with some friends at the bar. Walked further into the restaurant and she annoyingly said, "just sit anywhere"! That was an indicator of how the night was going to go, so we aborted early, turned around and left. It's a shame that staff can be so unwelcoming...to people wanting to give them money! We had a reservation for 630 there were 2 other tables there and it took over 1 hour for our food to come out. Even the kids meals. The temperatures were variable where the cauliflower I had was cold, steak over cooked brown center on a medium-rare order. The kids cheeseburger was good. We didn't leave until ten to eight after we shoveled our food in. I would not recommend this is you have kids with you or you are in a rush or moderately hungry when you walk in already. Maybe eat before going, so that you'll be hungry again when the food comes out. Service was fine and they replaced the cold cauliflower quickly. read more

We were in the area and thought we'd give it a try for lunch. I ordered the special, a prime rib dip sandwich. The au jus was excellent, the meat tender. My only negative is I can't stand mushrooms and that was not mentioned. Other than that, service was great, food was good. The dinner menu looked pretty good as well. read more

This place is so bomb! The bruschetta appetizer is like nothing I've ever tasted before. They put a light layer of herbed cream cheese on the baguette slice, with layers of tomato, bacon bits, parmesan flakes and a balsamic reduction on top. The flavors are amazing and work so well together! I highly recommend trying it. My second favorite thing was the sun dried tomato salad with the balsamic dressing. They are not stingy with the feta, bacon, and tomatoes on top. The turkey pesto was also delicious! Emilee was our server and she was so sweet and attentive the whole time! We discovered this place on a day trip. It's just off highway 165 in the center of Hilmar. The restaurant is very nice but casual at the same time, with beautiful landscaping. Inside there is plenty of seating with a great bar and views of the garden. Our waitress was darling and very attentive. We had the western tri-tip sandwich with garlic fries (they also have regular, sweet potato and onion rings!). The meat was tender and delicious on a soft, warm roll. Our daughter chose the meat pizza (big enough for two) and she loved it. Pepperoni, sausage, bacon and ham! The crust was thin, light and crispy. Super good. We also ordered chicken wings with all three offered sauces on the side. Perfectly fried and not greasy. Definitely going back to try one of their amazing looking burgers. Great American Grill is a nice and clean restaurant. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing. The staff however is a toss up. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's not so great. The food is pretty solid. Again, also a toss up. Sometimes very good and sometimes not so good. This place is a solid middle of the ground establishment. We had been to this restaurant before when the previous owners had it and the food was always great as well as the service. Today, we went in there as the hours stated they were open for business. The door was open, but there was no one in there but the cook. We stood for a while to be greeted, we walked around the restaurant where the cook saw us, but never said a word. The restaurant was empty and cold. My husband and I felt uncomfortable and awkward. Sadly we walked out and will not be returning. Arrived at the restaurant at 12:02PM and was seated, we had to call the waitress over to order. We ordered our food and 40 minutes go by and still no food. 19 minutes left of our HOUR lunch, asked for the food to go because I'm not going to be able to eat my tri tip sandwich in one big bite. Then when the waitress goes to tell the cook to make it to go and informs him we have to go back to work he makes some snide a** comment saying we usually call when we only have a 30 minute lunch and order it ahead of time. Mind you we have a HOUR lunch, we waited a whole hour to get our food 16 minutes before our lunch ends. Oh and then when we check the food to make sure he got our order right, I ordered garlic fries with my tri tip and my coworker asked for onion rings. I received my coworkers onion rings and she received my garlic fries, the waitress asks if we want the cook to switch it... for what? For him to not give our food for another 20 minutes ? Anyways we let the waitress know we heard his comment and she proceeds to tell us they had 3 orders ahead of us. The place was damn near empty. ANYWAYS I wouldn't recommend to a friend unless I don't like them and want them to waste a hour of their life. Also that isn't the first time the cook has made a comment, we ordered pizzas last time and the waitress proceeds to tell the cook that he's going to hate us because we ordered pizza... don't think customers are supposed to hear that. I won't be returning. Or if I do I'll call 2 hours ahead of time for them to give me my food 30 minutes until my lunch ends lmao. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. No one was in the restaurant no hostess no hello after standing there for several mins. We saw a young man got his attention he said sit wherever. No server came by we flagged same kid down but it was awful from start to finish! Never got our appetizer, no silverware, food was awful! It's funny because I saw tri tip ends on ig NOT what they look like & they are NOT good at all I got this as my entree. My husband got a burger it was horrible! went here out the first time and it is a very nice place. The decor is well done and they have many things to offer for your event with outside seating with a large gazebo. Large bar and wine cellar in view for all to see. The menu is small but good. The Chicken sandwiches, and gourmet burgers, all looked very good coming out. We visited once before with a group of four, and this was our second time visiting. The menu has changed so much since then. We came from a few drinks and a bite to munch on. Our sever was wonderful, Mariah. She was attentative and made sure we had everything we needed. We had the steak bites with mushrooms. A great choice! We went on a Saturday afternoon for our first time and we won't be back. Walked inside and the place was empty nobody to greet us. We eventually meandered over to the bar for a seat after we saw a chef so we figured they were open. Out comes the server and makes us a drink but we had to ask for food menus. Our server seemed like she didn't want to be there. We told her we were having a couple of drinks and then getting some food to-go. Our to-go order included food for another family member who was not present. She came back over to the bar and made us our second round and then disappeared again. When she appeared back it was with a newly employed server in which she was training. They spent so much time away from us doing the "training" we ran out of time to order food because she never checked back with us to get our food order (at least an $80 bill+drinks). We went to the front and found them at the cash register in which we paid for our drinks and left. We were helped fairly quick by a different waitress. Our food came out 15 minutes later and the waitress never stopped by to see how we were doing and also never brought out our condiments. I visited for a business lunch and the restaurant was a perfect choice. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful while the entrance is flanked with lovely olive trees. The inside is very clean and modern with lots of wood and glass and a nice big view of their wine cellar. We didn't have cocktails but the bar appeared to be very nice. I had the beet salad and I loved the simplicity of it which let the beets do their magic. I would highly recommend trying them out ... and the beer salad! read more

Our waitress, failed to get her name, appeared as thought she hated her job and we were definitely putting her out. I don't even know where to begin this place is amazing! The second I walked in I was greeted by a hostess and decided I wanted to sit up the bar. Great environment and great music playing. The bartender Kayla provided great service and mixed up the most yummy Moscow mule with her own little twist. I've been here several times and I love getting the special of the day since it's always something different. The last time I was there I got salmon and it was to die for! Can't wait to go back and try something new again. I didn't sit outside but the outdoor patio looks beautiful I'm hoping someday I'm able to have an event thrown there as well! read more
