As we slowly get our old 'as is' home ready for sale, I started to look at more things we could do to increase the 'curb value' inside and giving the ceramic tile and grout a professional cleaning came to mind. I checked out a number of companies/pricing/reviews and placed a call to Stanley Steemer. I could have booked on line, but, I'm high touch and always have questions so I placed a call (which was picked up by a human on the second ring). We scheduled a service call to get an estimate. George showed up at the scheduled time, answered all of my questions, gave us a demo, told us the cost and quickly followed up with a written estimate. Again, I could have scheduled on line, but I called so I could request George to perform the service. We were able to track George's ETA on line. He was on time and prepared the rooms plus the garage in the blink of an eye. He was efficient, professional and friendly. When completed, he moved everything back with no problem. What a difference! Today was my second time using the Stanley Steemer team. Last time they did a great job getting the stink out of my carpet after a long term houseguest made it very smelly. This time I just wanted it freshened up since it had been a while. Kobe showed up exactly in time and did a fantastic and fast job. I had an area rug cleaned by Stanley Steamer. The pick up was completed very professionally. However the delivery was awful. The person who delivered my rug and pad was very rude and disgruntled. He arrived along with the rug and pad. I have a coffee table that had to be moved. He asked me to help. Well I am in my 80's and was not able to help. ( I didn't understand why they sent one man to do the job.) He was upset that I could not help and was disgusted with me when I tried to ask him where to place the rug. After several attempts he got nasty with me and said "if you would just stop standing there with your arms crossed and maybe communicate with me" I was literally offended and scared at this point. He said his partner had called out today. I am not responsible for a called out partner. They should not have sent him by himself. I was very uncomfortable with him and scared at this point. He left here disgruntled. I would not recommend using the area rug cleaning if they have to have it sent to their site. Never again. read more

Scheduling was easy and Mohamed showed up on time. This was the first professional cleaning on my sofa ever with only spot cleaning in the past. I pointed out a couple areas to focus on and he took his time, standing all the cushions up to dry thoroughly. He took his time and did a very thorough cleaning job. The sofa looked like new when he was done. Mohamed was professional and friendly for the entire visit. He did an excellent job for a fair price. We contracted Stanley Steemer to clean two rooms and a staircase. When they showed up, they offered to throw in carpet protection and sofa cleaning for FREE. My husband even tipped them on top of that (almost $60) and gave them drinks BECAUSE they were so nice. They proceeded to CHARGE FOR ALL OF IT, causing the invoice to be doubled. Then the "manager" claimed it was a he said/she said situation and refused to even listen to us to dispute the charge. They are running a SCAM business. Will absolutely NEVER EVER use them again. And will scream from the rooftops to everyone I know to never use them. Absolutely the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Stay far far far away. read more

Appointment made for last Wednesday, June 26 between the hours of 8AM-12PM. Charles, he was alone, arrived around 11AM. According to the website furniture would be moved, though I can understand why large pieces were not. We had 2 carts (TV and computer) on rolling wheels; they were not moved and a recliner that my husband easily moves was also not moved. I emailed the company the next day with my complaints and as yet have had no response back. They should at least return and clean these areas! Not good. The only reason that i had them come out was to clean our new white sectional, that arrived to us stained. I've always had a white sofa and have never had issues having it steam cleaned as removing the slipcover is a LOT of work and sometimes difficult to put back on. Our technician took one look and said that they don't clean white sofas as it will turn brown with their solution and they don't do down? This has never happened to any sofas I've had cleaned nor have I ever heard of it. Then she spoke with the manager who said that it could be done but they don't guarantee any stain removal as it likely won't work. Since when do new stains not come out with steam cleaning. Anyways- they don't seem skilled or knowledgeable enough to trust them with anything in my opinion. Also- they called asking if they could come early- to which I said no earlier then 11:30. I have had Stanley Steamer clean my bedroom carpets multiple times. Never Again. The workmanship and customer service were horrible. The final product is lousy. I have had teams in the past move things, put foil under chair/table legs. These two simply steamed the middle easy to reach areas. They did not even reach under the bed. My wife set up cleaning service with Stanley steamer over two weeks ago. They arrived today with the wrong truck and said they couldn't get the carpets clean today. They never checked to see if we lived in an upstairs apartment. Trayvon Walker refused to call his manager and correct the situation. He was very rude! He literally just left so I called and of course it's a one 800 number that's not associated with that store. I spoke to David who tried to help but he basically he just kept telling me there was nothing he could do. So now I'm off to find another service or will rent a steam cleaner myself. I will never use or recommend Stanley Steamer ever again. People today want to have money but not willing to work for it. read more

Carpets were cleaned yesterday, crew of two came for the cleaning, they were both professional, polite, and did an excellent job on the floors, and they were affordable. Do not use the local Stanley Steamer services. Ruined my sofa with their cleaners . It had spots that developed a week after they left? These spots were not there initially. Chemical reaction?? I rarely post reviews but feel it's necessary. This company is so unprofessional it's strange they are still in business. I have now had three appointments the first of which the tech didn't bring the proper equipment for a high floor home. The second appointment I was not informed of as it was just rescheduled internally with no notification to me. The third and final failed appointment was supposed to be a morning appointment and the techs would have arrived at 4-5pm. Also a 5 hour arrival window is ludicrous in this day and age and just is not acceptable. read more

What wasn't expected was that I would occasionally catch one of them literally on hands and knees wiping at some hard to reach area. Our carpet looks better and the kitchen tile looks a LOT better. Wanted a thorough cleaning as I hadn't cleaned my carpets in a while, I live alone though so they weren't real bad. They arrived on time and were well organized. When they were done I did look it over and it seemed okay, but she made the comment " I think we made a difference ", for $300.00 dollars I would expect more confidence than that. After they left I saw several spots they missed and an area where they had sprayed an antibacterial agent without running their wash over. This was the single WORST customer service experience of my life. They picked up carpets and took them to be cleaned and then delivered them torn. Picked them up again and took them to be repaired and NEVER FOLLOWED UP. Instead turned it over to an insurance carrier with no call or explanation. The insurance company was completely ineffective. I had to reach out to the company that was fixing the tears, pay for it, and then re-schedule delivery. I can not even express how BAD this company is. The branch near Charleston is the absolute WORST! DO NOT EVER EVER USE THEM. I rate this NEGATIVE stars!!!! read more

Do not use Stanley Steamer for grout cleaning! We just wasted $350 on cleaning and sealing. They came out twice to try to clean. Our house isn't that old and there are only 2 of us here, so it wasn't horrible. There are streaks in the grout lines. On the second visit, they "forgot" to reseal the grout and had to come back again. This time they "forgot" to seal the guest bathroom.The main goal of the cleaners is to up sell more products and services. Apologies for poor service only go so far. The main complaint against this company is that they are dishonest. A customer can take the same exact job and develop multiple quotes from their online system. They will refer to spaces to be cleaned as "rooms" and "areas" but their online system will also specify "bathrooms", "hallways" and "entry". A person scheduling service can go through the online portal and be fairly accurate in what they describe but as soon as the technicians walk in to the home, the terms change and the price increases dramatically. When a discrepancy regarding a job scope is raised by the folks that show up, management should get involved immediately and explain the discrepancy to the customer. I was quoted $200 to clean and seal a kitchen and bath via the online system. When the folks showed up to do the job, they informed me that my job was in fact four areas...the dine in portion, the area around the island, the area behind the appliances and the bathroom. Their new quote was nearly $500. Before writing this review, I went to the online portal and recomputed the quote based on the information provided by the technicians that attempted to do the work. The scope of my job was the kitchen divided into two "rooms", the "hallway" behind the appliances and a "bathroom". I included clear seal to be applied. The quote came out to $319. This company employs vague pricing and pressure tactics at the site to increase the cost of the job. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I honestly wish that I could give negative stars, because they don't even deserve one. I had an appointment scheduled one Saturday with a time window of 2-5. I was moving out of my apartment that weekend and planned on having everything in the carpeted rooms moved out before 2 that day. The cleaners showed up at NOON, two hours early, and I told them that I wasn't ready for them to be at the house yet. After some back and forth they agreed to come back at 2. I later got an email "confirming a new scheduled appointment" for three days from then, in the middle of a work day, which I obviously did not schedule, especially since that Saturday-the day I had scheduled my appointment for- was the last day that I could have my carpets cleaned before official move out. I called, and they said that the office was closed but they would relay my message to someone and have them reach out to me. Hours later...nothing. So I called again, NEEDING my carpets cleaned THAT DAY, and they said the same thing-someone would reach out to me. Another hour goes by and nothing. It's now 4 o'clock and I haven't heard anything from anyone about when they are going to show. So I call a few more times, expressing my frustration, and NEVER ONCE RECEIVED A CALL BACK! I stressed about moving everything out by a certain day and time for them to be able to come out and clean, I'm losing money out of my security deposit (which I'm sure will be more than what I was going to pay to have the carpets cleaned myself), and we had to keep our electricity on for 3 days after we moved out so that our landlord could have the carpets cleaned before new tenants moved in. This is probably one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I work in customer service and I have for many years, so I am normally really patient when mistakes are made and things go wrong, but this was absolutely ridiculous. I don't think that I have ever written a review about anything before now, especially a bad one, but the service I received, or lack thereof, prompted me to say something about it so that others will be aware. I typically only post reviews when I love something but I'm so upset with this company I had to warn others. This company is dishonest, a pain to work with and will sneak in extra costs by upcharging you once they arrive. I booked a tile cleaning for my tiny kitchen along wth all carpets over the phone. Upon arrival the technician told me that the kitchen was actually 2 areas -to the left of the cabinets was one area and to the right of the cabinets the second. I'm annoyed because my kitchen is tiny but do not argue. Then he tells me once the tile is cleaned the grout has to be resealed because the cleaning takes off the sealant, this was never mentioned during booking. That's extra as well and since he's now saying the kitchen is two areas that means the sealant is charged twice as well. He gave me a choice between clear and color but very strongly pushed the color grout saying clear would still show discolored parts in grout even after cleaning. The color sealant is $150 per "area"! My total cost was $300 more than what I booked. I am extremely unhappy and will never use this company again. Since looking I have seen many other similar negative reviews. I had several friends and family members that booked during their special but have since cancelled after hearing my experience with this company. I spoke to the manager who said he would get back to me but not surprising I have not heard back. I strongly suggest you do not use Stanley Steamer. read more

.Bruce and Dina have owned their Conway, Myrtle Beach franchise since 1986. I had never used their franchise before, but had Stanley Steemer come out many times over the 16 years my wife and I lived in Dallas, TX, as we liked the hypoallergenic results. Stanley Steemer is the first carpet cleaning service to earn the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America certification, removing an average of 94% of common household allergens from the carpet they clean. It is a tough competitive business, though, with all the "chemical" carpet cleaning services out there. The two man team (Alfredo who has 11 years experience with S.S., and Travis) showed the professionalism and experience only a good franchise owner can teach. Keeping employees that long (11 years) is an accomplishment in and of itself in any business these days, IMO. Besides doing a quick and safe (no damage) job as I requested, I asked Dina to tell whomever she assigned to me, that they not try to suggest other services they sell, this one time, as I was in a hurry to get many things done, due to going out of town the next day. I knew that the carpet would take time to dry,due to the fact that we had many errands to get to that day before we left. Alfredo and Travis actually did as they were told, even though, they probably earn extra money by educating carpet cleaning customers to a potentially valuable opportunity, and then they made it easy to pay for with any credit card I may have. I was so pleased with the overall experience that I tipped each of them $5.00, which I had never done before with other S.S. employees. They also got out a number of old stains (one creosote petroleum based stain was greatly improved to my satisfaction) even though I hardly ever vacuum, and had never professionally cleaned this carpet in 8 years due to "out of state" family challenges. Before they came, we were considering buying new carpet, but now we feel we can get more years out of it. We've bought mats to cover the extreme wear areas that no carpet cleaning service can fix, and this should extend the life of our 8 year old carpet even further. I should tell you that my wife and I spent a half day before S.S. came, making sure that all electrical wires, floor lamps, floor heaters, etc. were out of the rooms to be cleaned. This speeded up the whole process, and benefited us, as well as the S.S. crew. The less obstacles they have to deal with, the better (and quicker - 1 1/2 hr.) the job they do, as they don't have to move your "stuff" out of the way. We also opened all window blinds with the louvers pointing downward for the sun to get on our carpets. When they were done, we turned the heat up in the house, and put two floor fans on, and pointed them down on the carpets that were just steam cleaned. These things made our olifin short fiber carpets be dry in about 3 1/2 hours! We were thrilled, as that gave us more time to get ready to go out of town the next day. Bruce and Dina have "slip and fall" insurance for their crew, but my wife and I don't, so walking on dry carpets is also a safety concern for us. read more
