I had the best customer experience at Stanton in Corpus Christi Texas. The place was clean, roomy and well lighted. The staff was kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The whole examination was quick and comfortable. All steps in the eye exam were explained well. And having a virtual doctor was a new and unique experience. Very safe and cool. The Doctor was easy to work with. I didn't feel pressured. I know I had the best experience and look forward to picking up my glasses. I like to send a BIG thanks to all the staff. I had an appointment to get my eyes checked with a doctor. we get there and a doctor wasn't even there to check my eyes. They didn't even go by appointments which mine was for 10:30 we didn't even get out of there till 1:00 in the afternoon. It took them almost 2 weeks to get my glasses I got my glasses. I couldn't even put them on. I was so dizzy for two days just by trying them on so they made another appointment for me to see a doctor we go there and they said the Dr. left at 5:30 and they had made my appointment for 6:00 so I have another appointment to see the doctor what is wrong with this place? I don't like to talk bad about anybody. I want every business to flourish, but this is really messed up. I would not recommend anybody to this place. I wish I could just get my money back. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! We made two attempts to make an appointment to see the optometrist. For the first attempt we booked the appointment over the phone and showed up only to find out that the appointment was made with a technician. An appointment for a senior who had never had an eye exam.... Took time off work again after booking an appointment with the optometrist. Got a text a few minutes after booking the appointment that it had been rescheduled later in the day no one called and asked if we could reschedule our appointment. Despite this we show up for the appointment anyway and got handed an iPad by a very dismissive distracted woman in a lab coat, we didn't get asked for insurance cards or anything. After a few minutes which we approached the desk again after filling out the forms on the iPad to ask about providing insurance cards. We waited another 45 minutes watching people that came in long after us get called in for their exams. When I asked if the Dr. was behind I was told " I don't know, I just came back from lunch" "the girl at the back desk should know" I said there was no one there and she responded "that's because she's teching" Every single person we encountered was rude and dismissive and couldn't care less about anyone waiting for assistance. After being treated like this by the rest of the staff you couldn't pay me millions to let these people touch my family's eyes. The place is also in deep disrepair which is the first red flag. 0 pride in their work or work place. What a terrible vibe in this place, I wouldn't send my worst enemy there. read more

The worst appointment and service from day one. The doctor was great. But when I got out from him the girl that was suppose to help me was in a hurry. Close to quitting time and more busy talking to another male employee that all i got from her was have you ever worn glasses. I said no just contacts. I didn't know that there were different types of lenses. Bifocal etc and some were plastic and other kinds. She said bifocal I said I guess. Then when I asked for a sample contact I couldn't get it in my eye. Usually someone would help me at other offices. She walked away to talk to young man and waiting to get off work. The front desk and girl and guy, there are no other ways to describe except rude. The exam office is friendly. But really bad breath. No optometrist in office, telemedicine. The odd part, I was told a yr ago I needed cataract removal surgery in right eye and a young cataract in my left. This was by my optometrist I trusted before I moved to corpus. There was no mention of any cataract. Even though where I bought my glasses said the numbers showed a problem. I also said I will not wear toric lens due to preservatives they use in the lens. I was prescribed toric. I do not advise anyone go there. Also front desk, when she had my card, could have just been a misspeak, but it asked for a pin.. instead of saying do you want to enter a pin... her words, what's you pin? It want a pin. How many people have given her a PIN number? Filing grievance with my insurance. Thanks for the reply, however it's not enough. I went there because I had never had any complaints before, however, this time I was seen with the telehealth version and my left eye prescription seems to be inaccurate. The "doctor " seemed to get impatient and overall I have the wrong prescription. I was so desperate to get new contacts that I overlooked it because I am on the same pair of contacts for at least four months. I can get by with this prescription only because my right eye is the dominant. With that being said, I will go to a real optometrist to get the right prescription from now on. read more

Oh my GOODNESS. She was soooo patient and sooooo helpful. ShE made it fun and absolutely no pressure. No rush. I would give 0 stars if that was an option. On my first visit I was reluctant to go in due to The fact that the business looked vacant. Shrubs are seriously overgrown to the point that some parking spots are covered in overgrown plants. Palm trees have so many dead frawns blowing in the wind just waiting to drop on someone's head or cause damage to a car. trash everywhere in the parking lot. Upon entering the business there is a horrible musty smell, beyond dirty carpet. Just an extremely neglected business. I originally had an eye exam at Stanton which went fine. I ordered glasses for distance & glasses for reading. (I'm not a fan of bifocals.) Several months later I realized The tinted glasses I ordered for driving were not great for nighttime driving so I returned with my tinted Driving glasses & asked for this same prescription just without the tint. Seems like an easy request right! Well, I left & came back the next day to pick up my glasses only to find out they were not right because they filled them as my reading prescription. Tech told me "we have new people so I'm not sure what happened" but they would redo them & make it right. You think this would be the end but no once again I left & came back a week later to again pick up my glasses for distance & guess what for the 2nd time they filled the glasses with the same exact reading prescription. After waiting several minutes for the tech to try to figure out was was going on I was told they didn't have my lenses & they would have to be ordered & they would call me when they came in. I waited a week without hearing from anyone I called & was told they were ready. I thought GREAT! I'll be right down to get them. Unbelievably they were wrong for a third (3) time. At this point I said maybe I just need a refund & I can go somewhere that can get it right. Tech said no go get your driving glasses & bring them in & ill compare them to these new glasses & sure enough they were filled for a 3rd time as reading prescription. She said I'll make them right jusT give me 20 minutes. I waited the 20 minutes & thank the lord on the 4th try they got it right. While I understand people usually only review the bad stuff & I really try not to do that but this breakdown of customer service was exceptional. I'm not sure if this store has a manager or person in charge. I would think not due to the upkeep of the store & poor business practices. I hate this store. You can never get through on the phone and I have been waiting for almost 2 months for my glasses. They made the order wrong and I was told my lenses would be in a couple of days. I called today 9 4 2020 n was told it will be another 2 weeks. I tried calling to get a refund on my credit and of course no answer. I want my money back so I can go back to family vision where the service is so much better and you get treated as a person. The managers at this location don't even acknowledge you or say hi. They're extremely busy. And They're deals are on specific lower priced frames, od course. But make an appt for the morning (mine was 1030am on Monday) and they were great! They do a lot of walk-ins and I saw the people signed in before me, but my appt went smoothly. Eye doctor was Dr. M____. I didn't quite catch it but it went smoothly. I didn't know where to go afterwards so I asked a lot of the sales associates about different things like insurance and frame and lense costs and they were all helpful. Cassie was wonderful. Honest and thorough and super helpful. Great customer service and easy to talk to. She was also kinda new to the place but already so informative. She received a phone call from an angry customer (I know that phone call) but she was cool, calm and collected during the entire conversation. Very reassuring. read more

There is a reason this business has such a terrible rating. They are dishonest and thieving. Twice now I have tried to get them to print out a copy of my prescription, and they refuse to give it to me because it's expired, they say. Law states that as a patient, you are entitled to your documents, so that's an outright lie. They then tell me they will only release those documents to other eye doctors (so other doctors can have medical info about me, but I can't?), so I decided to play ball and had the other eye doctors contact them, and they once again refused to release this information. The only way this establishment stays in business is because they charge less for their exams than other places. If they operated at the same cost, they'd be under in a years time. read more

My husband and I got both our exams, mine was glasses and contacts, 2 pair glasses for him, bi-focal, I pair contacts for me plus I got both my old frames filled with my current perscription, all together it was $475.. I spent $380 at walmart with adjacent exam, on just 1 pair.. Only real issue is, be prepared..they are very busy and overwhelmed.. We will be back, but seriously, THEY ARE OVERWHELMED. read more

Terrible management. I went to get an Eye exam to get glasses & they end up getting my eye prescription wrong! They didn't want to refund me my money for the eye exam, so I had no choice but to go back, & when I did they told me I had to make an appointment, when they didn't tell me that to begin with, they had said I could go back whatever day at whatever time. So I ended up wasting my time AGAIN. They didn't even apologize or take any responsibility for messing up my prescription, or telling me the wrong information. I have had a few unpleasant experiences at Stanton Optical in the past, but my daughter suggested I give Stanton another try. I went online to schedule an appointment and was thrilled to see they had an appointment for 5:50 today (9/18/20). I rushed over to Stanton and walked up to the desk at 5:50 on the dot. The man at the desk saw my appointment but told me they close at 6 and the doctor would be leaving at 6. They refused to honor the appointment that I booked on their website, I even received an email confirmation. I was told that I wasn't charged for multi-focals, which I need. Visited Stanton optical today searching for eyeglasses at a reasonable price. First. The exterior is trashy and overgrown. Empty plastic bottles, fast food cups and overgrown weeds everywhere. Upon entering, had to sign in and begin the search. When we finally got reached, the value section that is always advertised included a whopping 20 frame choices. Because my daughter didn't see anything in that section, we were immediatly told we could apply for care credit to help pay for a more expensive pair of glasses. They salesman had no clue our financial background but assumed if we began in the value area, we needed help paying for glasses. Took my son to get glasses on Monday. I was taken aback at the *FREE* eye exam. It is NOT free and should not be advertised as such. We had a 11:30 appointment time and wasn't seen until after 1. When we asked about the *FREE* exam in the office, we were told a totally different story on the phone when booking the appointment. On the 2 pair of glasses for $69 deal, the selection we had to choose from was 7 pairs!! We would have been better off taking the prescription somewhere else and having it filled. We were initially told that every pair of glasses would be ready in 30 minutes then we were told that it would take 2 weeks for the glasses to be made because the 2 pairs for $69 are made by cooperate. We then were told to pick a pair off the wall and we could pay $50 and it would be ready in 20 minutes. I feel that we were taken advantage of, lied to and victim of bait and switch. read more

-1 star (4 total visits in-store but 8 to/from) We are 8 hours away from home on our beach vacation when a wave came through and took my glasses. I contacted my insurance company and I had one remaining set of glasses to redeem. They referred me to one place, but that place couldnt get me in until Tuesday and this started on Friday. I googled Walmart Optical at my husband's suggestion. I clicked on the first link that came up, thinking I was calling them. They answered Stanton Optical, but I thought maybe that's just how walmart named the place. They were able to get me in within 30 mins. I took it . Customer service going in was great. Others were waiting for exams too. Noticed the dingy carpet in that area. Got me back for pre exam. Then sent back for a short wait for exam with doc. That seemed pretty quick and he even made me feel somewhat better by telling me I wasnt the only one to lose glasses to the water. Sent me to go check out glasses and they'd send the script over. I spent a long time looking at glasses picked two because I couldn't decide, but decided on the one ultimately because it didnt seem as flimsy. (I later thought about how poorly lit the inside was and how no eyeglass store I had ever been too was that dark. Maybe because when you are leaving with your newglasses you think that you can see?) Went up to a lab coat because I wasnt sure if I understood how someone was supposed to come get me. So I asked if I had to sign in. She asked of I had been helped and I said no. So she ultimately helped me herself. Got set up with using my insurance and she said they'd be ready in 15 to 20 min. Came back after feeding us and the kids about 40 min later and they were ready. I put them on and immediately knew I couldnt see through them and an adjustment period wouldn't fix it. Looking down to the floor or turning my head makes me nauseous (fishbowl effect). They dont work in unison and singly they are off. She could tell they weren't working because of the way I looked. She said to give them a few days and if they still felt off to bring them back. So I did... I went back, first one there on Sunday morning, they checked my prescription and said it was exactly what had been prescribed and that I'd have to be scheduled for a recheck when the same dr, who wasnt there that day and to back tomorrow. There were several women behind me that came in and at least one was having a similar issue. She was very mad. But I guess her doc was there because they took her right back. My optometrist back in Dallas area said they faxed my prescription to them. Sunday, they claimed there was nothing on file, which not sure that the store area was where they would get the fax vs the optometrist area. (monday) I went to walmart afterwards to get a few things before driving back to the island again. Walking around Walmart (visually) made me nauseous. Nothing was clear and the motion sickness was stifling. I had to keep squinting. So far I have lost time and $75 bucks with counting against my insurance. Will update after 3rd return 3rd visit: after explaining to doc that I will not be doing bi focals didnt work last time he sent my script which they were going to have glasses ready in an hour. 30 min in they claimed lens machine is broken and it will be tomorrow (Tues) If not tomorrow then the manager will call me with options (options?!). I took script to another place and now I cant use insurance. I went to the second place because it was well lit, the original place I was supposed to go to and because i felt like i was getting the run around with Stanton. I picked up the glasses from the second place went back to change for beach and missed a call from Stanton with a visual vm that glasses were ready. I went straight back over the bridge and signed in. Waited in line and when they girl called me, she couldnt find my glasses and asked if someone called to let me know it was ready. I tried to show her my phone, and said yall just called me 20 min ago. She went to the back twice, checked the stacked boxes twice and the shelves/top of cabinets. Poor organization. 4th visit I mention the lighting because (keep on mind the prescription that the glasses are supposed to be are the ones that are in the ocean and I cam see through. ) I put them on and thought I could see. It was dark and I could tell that the fishbowl effect was gone. The materials are also the same. Yet the vision in my left eye is off. Not sure how the script is the same and I could see through mine but not theirs? Waste of money (gas too), time and insurance. read more

I used to love coming here when they first opened. However now they are slow. When my glasses are supposed to be in by a certain date and I call to check status, I get out on hold, which turns into it rolling over to a voicemail, then I have to call back and get told again that they are to busy to help me but will call me back, which they never do!!!!!!! Save your time and money and go elsewhere. This company is not able to handle their business in a timely or honorable way. They are nice until they have your money. Then they delay your glasses using the machines as an excuse. Then that delayed date is changed. And don't hold your breath waiting for Nate to keep his word and call you back. Evidently he doesn't understand that people have voicemail and caller id. You either call someone or you don't. Don't play games, Nate. Learn to honor your promises. They promise your glasses on a specific day then call with a sob story about the machines. Then the new date goes by and still no glasses. No honoring their word at this company. According to one of their own staff members and other reviews they have been using the 'machines are down' excuses for sometime now. I am extremely disappointed with the service I have recently received from Stanton Optical. I was trying to figure out the status of my order but nobody had any answers. They were also very unprofessional. I couldn't get any answers over the phone so I went to the location and my contacts were sitting behind the counter. She said they came in earlier this week. This frustrated me since no one on the phone could find my order. She handed me two boxes which she thought was my full order. Once I stated that it wasn't she said "Oh yeah, these are yours too!" Absolutely horrible. Paid for glasses on july 3. Promised glasses on julu 17. Still NO glasses! Had to call and call. Husband went into store at 3pm on thursday and glasses in box with lenses and frames, not started on! Called one hour later, not knowing hubby had seen glasses Not processed at all, i was told by the manager, Mike, that one pair was done and they were working on the second pair. I knew he was lying. I called yesterday and demanded that my credit card be given a refund. I waited for a call back verifying the credit and finally got one from the service tech that my card had been issued a credit. What a hot mess! They need to take the glasses off the shelf that they cannot make or send them out to a lab that can. Oh and the cost was $517.00! read more

Then taken around to the eye center for the discount outs 45 per glasses and i STILL paid over 700.00 for thier eye glasses. Went to Wal-Mart just to price the glasses there and i could have gotten them both glasses for 400.00 easy. I'm numb with disappointment. But it's just money right?
