The workers there are so genuine. Every single one of them has a positive and uplifting attitude. They really seem to care and try there best to provide others with the help they need. Worst place to go to get glasses and contacts. I wear gas permeable contacts. When I went I told them that was what I wanted. Basically knew I had no choice because I needed some that day because one of my contacts broke. They made me wait over an hour to tell me they don't carry them. Employees are rude. Even the eye doctor didn't even care if she got your prescription right. Ended up with the wrong prescription which makes it hard for me to drive at night. My contacts and glasses took over 3 weeks to get here. Never got a call to let me know they were in. I would never recommend this place. POOR SERVICE ALL THE WAY AROUND BY ALL EMPLOYEES!!! Worst place ever! I went in to pick up my glasses and they wouldn't let me try them on until I paid the remaining balance. They said they couldn't let me try them on because they don't want me to run out without paying for them. I was told This is their policy. So be prepared to be treated like a thief!!!you kidding me! ZERO STARS! This was the worst experience I have ever encountered in customer service. At first they were nice with their big grins and false promises. This only lead to a frustrated representative yelling at the top of her lungs , "don't t help them so we can leave." Pardon me, Ms. Miranda, but I have only been sitting here for 45 mins. waiting for my glasses that were said to be ready today. To better clarify I placed the order the day before and it was mentioned to me they would be ready by 4 p.m. It is 4:47 p.m. and they tell me they won't be ready until possibly the next day. What was offensive to me was when I respectively went to talk to the manager Ms. Miranda continued to mouth off to fellow colleagues about how they could've been gone by this time. The part that disgusted me the most out of this ordeal was not the delay in glasses, but the poor unprofessional ethic they displayed for this optical. Okay, so I took time off work to make an appointment for an eye exam and new glasses. This place is close to my house so I figured that I'd give it a try. I made my appointment. for the "early morning" (I don't consider 9 to be be early) so that I could use the rest of my day. I arrived when the doors opened, and was greeted promptly. So far so good. The OD tech did the usual tech stuff. I was a little worried since she kept yawning and said that she had "just barely gotten up." Strike one. She finished up and showed me to the exam room. I sat there for a while because that's what you usually do in a doctor's office. They left the door open so I could see the waiting area begin to fill up. I took out my phone and started to kill time by looking at Facebook, etc. It seemed to be taking a while and before I knew it, 45 minutes had gone by. Strike two. I left the exam room and found the tech as she was finishing prep for another customer. I asked if the doctor was here, and she said that "he should be here soon." So wait a minute, he's not even here? Neither one of them? I asked when they would be there, She said, "They usually get here in the mornings." No kidding. The morning? She had no idea. evidently, the doctors at this place show up when they want to. So I have to make an appointment, but the doctor shows up when he pleases. Strike three, you're out. I left and will not be returning. You're close to my house but I will definitely travel farther for better service. Not everyone has a choice. Some people need the deal so I'm sure they will put up with your negligence. But if you have the means, find another place to get your eye exam and glasses. I never thought I'd find a place that makes Dr. Barnes look like a well oiled machine. read more

I just got my glasses from here yesterday. After reading all the poor reviews of this place, I can't say I'm surprised. I even read management's response on Yelp and even though it seems sincere, they really don't get the fact they are a service business rather than just selling eye-ware. Always a reactive response rather than proactive action. I didn't have a problem with my exam, promotional offer, or even product up to the point I paid and waited for my glasses to come in. It seems once they make the sale, the rest of the process just really isn't all that important. After waiting 2 weeks without a call to notify me my glasses were in (as they said they would), I had to call them. I see a culture of poor leadership, no customer-centric training, and even high turnover based on just three visits. I still have to return to pick up contact lenses. This time, I'm prepared with low expectations and know I'll have to follow up on them again. When I walked in, the bald Hispanic gentleman wearing the suit and scuffed light brown shoes (which he has worn all 3 of my visits) greets people when they walk toward the front service podium. His attitude is much more positive when you are a new customer, but if he knows you're there to pick up product, he's not quite as enthused. When I told him I was there to pick up, he just pointed to the seating area without any instructions to sign in. After being seated for 10 minutes (no other customers) and having 2 employees behind the service counter looking at me without any acknowledgement, they just walked about. Another lady walked in, was instructed to sign in an attended to immediately. I had to walk up to the counter again and asked to be helped. They finally attended to me and I was out in 5 minutes. It's clear that there is lack of training, lack of communication, lack of pride and lack of service in this dysfunctional business franchise. They are far below their operating potential. I went for an appointment yesterday but knew I would be at least 20 mins late. They adjusted my appointment time to allow me an additional 45 mins to make it. The wait time was far less than expected once I checked in. The eye exam took less than 7 minutes and was very simple. After selecting my two frames I was well taken care of by a lovely and very friendly young lady. I have to mention that I have had eye exams at the VA and the prescription that Stanton gave me works FAR better than the prescription from the VA. The frame are sturdier as well so far. I would surely recommend this business to anyone wanting fast and quality service. Did I mention that I walked out of there with my glasses finished? Some places, including the VA take a week+ to have them mailed to you. read more

Excellent Service. I was helped by Roxanna and man oh man did she do a great job of treating me. I went in only wanting to do an eye exam but after talking with her and getting to know about the promotions offered at Stanton I decided to walk out with a new pair of glasses, and new lenses for my current frames. She welcomed me from the second I walked in and was very pleased to work with me. The eye examination was also great, the doctor caught that my current glasses were too strong for what my vision needed, and I got to say everything looks great. I am very pleased with this organization and will go back when it's time, or to get a pair of sunglasses, which they have a good deal for me to do so. BEWARE! Ask before you do anything with them. Which are the "free" frames? Answer in my case: fewer than 10 in the entire store. And the lenses s were $199 each. Your prescription is only good for one year and after it expires they can't do nothing for you, I was left with prescription sunglasses that only lasted me 15 months and the tint started to wear off... Not the ideal situation. I came into the store on a Friday to get an eye exam for a contact prescription. While i was in the store the staff was courteous and professional. Upon leaving I received my contact prescription. However when I went to order contacts we discovered I had two different brands for the contacts and that I was unable to order them until it got fixed. I was told that it wasn't an issue and to come back tomorrow and it will get fixed. I returned to the store and was told to come back again after 5 since i needed to wait 24 hours. I called back Sunday only to find out the the doctor who was supposed to fix my prescription has been on vacation all along and thats when things turned hostile and unprofessional. The staff told me to come in for another pair of lenses. Then they called me back to tell me that they were out of stock. Then they changed direction and told me that they gave me two contacts when they infact gave me one trial pair of contacts. I dont appreciate being lied to for any reason. Satisfaction guaranteed definitely doesn't apply there. I paid good money for the prescription only to discover I can't use them and I can't change the prescription bc the doc is on vacation. thats really f**ked up. I would give no stars if I could. I called to schedule my appointment, and verified with the representative that they accept Tricare. Of course, when we arrive (we had three appointments) they tell me that they do not accept Tricare. When I told him that the scheduler advised that they do accept Our insurance, he told me I must have called the call center... I called the number advertised for this location! Don't have a call center answer your calls if they do not have the correct information!! I believe this is a tactic they use to get people into the store so that we'd go ahead and pay the $49 exam fees. I should have listened to the other reviews and not attempted to go here. It took 2 hours to do my eye exam and be able to order my contacts and lenses, I gave them the info for my Insurance over the phone and when It was time to pay I was told they don't accept it so ended up paying 350+ out of pocket. My order was supposed to arrive with in 10 days, I called and was told they will be ready in another week which would make it 3 weeks to get my order instead of the 10 days I was originally told. Went In for an appointment at 3:30 didn't get seen until an hour and a half later because there was so many people with appointment as well! I've been needing an eye exam so I decided to wait people were helpful in the waiting area. I just wanted to get an exam and leave. After my exam, A girl in the white coat asked why I didn't want eye glasses from there and I said that I usually get them online from zenni because they are cheaper and she asked if I had my pupillary distance (pd) because they ask for it online and I said no because when i usually get exams done else where they give it to me and she said it doesn't come with prescription there but if I came back to get glasses she could leave me the pd with someone. Ummm no thank you. Only reason I gave them a star is because I was able to be seen that day. read more

My family and I went to get all of our eyes checked for the first time since we moved to El Paso. We go in and they checked us in. I swore I was supposed to be getting a free eye exam, but they charged us 20 and we get seated in the back. We fill out all of our form, get our pressure test done, and it's here where things went downhill. One by one we go back to get our eye exams, and when it was my turn I noticed there was no physical optometrist in the room she was on the screen. I get past that and when we get done no one is there is tell us about our results. My son had a bad reading for his pressure test and I get a paper explaining that he needs to go to a specialist and something about glaucoma. No one explained anything to us yet again. They were just pushing their glasses and the prescriptions on us; without any explanation. It was a horrible experience trying to figure out what my son's pressure reading was and what the numbers meant. I had to freaking google what his results were. This place was a hot mess, they need to do a better job with explaining things to their clients. If something is wrong don't just give me a paper stating someone needs to go to a specialist with a paper about a specific eye disease and try and send people on their way. I gave 2 stars due to the clerk helping us with our glasses, but other than that I will not be returning.. except to pick up my glasses read more

Actually my rating is ZERO! Two members of our household and myself had appointments. We were there 15 minutes early. After signing in we realized we had many people ahead of us, some of them waiting for a while yet to be examined. We waited in the waiting area for 25 minutes (after registering) when we were taken in for a quick 60-second test (looking into a machine) and told to wait again in the waiting area. After another 35 minutes (one Hour total) they took in a young man waiting there longer then we were. The purpose of making an appointment is efficiency. After waiting that hour, we calculated from the people waiting before us that someone overbooked and that we would have to wait for at least 2 or more hours before being seen, so we left without an examination or our glasses. Making an appointment here seems to be a waste of time. Also, Stanton Optical may have been practicing social seating, but there were too many people walking around for our comfort. It would take an apology and guaranteed examination upon walking in for us to return. read more

Paid for eye exam, glasses, and prescription sunglasses. $376. The $69 frames they claim are limited to a small selection, and lenses are extra (not included in the $69). I went to pick up my glasses and I see blurry out of them, also the lenses are way thicker than Ive ever had in my 30yrs of wearing glasses. I even paid for the higher quality lenses. I have to come prove to them by bringing in an old pair of glasses to show them, and I live way on the other side of town. The sales rep found it amusing to explain the lenses are thicker since my prescription is so strong. Im very dissappointed!! 28Jul2016-Just left from taking old glasses to show Stanton Optical my lenses were not even close to protruding from the frames. The Dr claims my new prescription is way stronger than my old glasses. I would have never paid for the lens enhancements or custom prescription sunglasses had I been notified the lenses would be almost twice as thick as my old glasses and I still saw blurry out of both new pair. What a giant waste of time and gas! I live over 20miles away! ugg! I ended up just getting a refund and now I have to start the shopping/exam process all over again. read more

My wife went to Stanton Optical after looking up businesses that accept Tricare (I am in the military). She filled out all the paperwork for the eye exam and included payment by Tricare as our insurance. Nothing was said or done. The paperwork was not reviewed and after the exam was finished, my wife was forced to pay full price because that specific branch does not accept Tricare. This is false advertising and a horrible way to conduct business. read more

If I could give half-a-star rating I would. I should've read the reviews before I came here. They produced the wrong prescription and said exactly what the other reviews say they would "you'll get used to it". Then after a brief discussion about that ridiculous statement I was told only the true prescription is on the center of the lens! Woah! What a minute! Do you know how stupid that sounds?! So what prescription is on the edge of the lens? Shouldn't I be able to see clearly through all of the lens and not just the center? I was basically told I couldn't move my eyeballs away from the center of the lens. If I wanted to see away from the center I would have to move my entire head, so I guess I have to move like a robot?! BAD BAD BAD Service. It took more than three months to get my eyeglasses made right. The place has no system to assist people walking in. And they are rude. It always took more than an hour to get something done with them and I don't mean the glasses, just to get help or answers. When they finally gave me a pair of glasses I could see out of they forgot the transition. I tried to get a refund for my glasses before but they have a policy no refunds. Will never again go get glasses there. I hope if you are reading this you won't either. What a nightmare. read more

This will be my second complaint about Stanton optical this time it's because of the warranty I purchased the warranty and all the extras so that way my glasses were protected when I went in today to have my glasses fixed I was told that it was going to be an extra $36 and some change to have my glasses fixed when I paid for a warranty and for the anti scratch coating when my glasses are scratched I am very dissatisfied and I will be calling the manager and registering a formal complaint against this site I am very very unhappy with Stanton optical and I will never ever visit this location or any Stanton optical ever again read more

I found this place on Google called ahead to see if they took the current insurance I have (since my husbands insurance doesn't kick in until September 1st) they said they did so I quickly made an appointment. I had lost my glasses at work last night and needed to replace them as soon as possible. I figured I might as well get my exam done for the year since I was way overdue. Got there a little early for them to run my insurance and I was told they in fact DID NOT take my insurance and I would have to pay out of pocket. Very disappointed but needed the glasses today so went ahead with everything anyway. My exam was $45 dollars which they said would be waived, but I think they meant $45 is really half of the normal price and that I was getting a "discount". The "nurse" who got me started before seeing the doctor was NOT friendly whatsoever and seemed as if she didn't want to be working. I tried to ignore it. I saw the doctor after waiting a few minutes and she was quick, friendly, and attentive to my needs. The exam was a breeze and went by very quickly. I was pleased as I didn't want to spend the entire day getting my eyes done. After that I was told to go up to the front desk to have my frames picked and my lenses put in my place. We wandered for a moment and finally one of the girls (her name was Hayley) quickly approached hubby and I and asked if we had been helped. When we had told her no she told us to pick my two frames (buy one get one free) and then have a seat. She rushed to help us which made me feel very at ease. I picked my frames and Hayley was quick and worked with us. I was told that one pair could be today and the other pair in two weeks (extra stuff for the lenses). Perfect I needed a pair today. We were told the glasses wouldn't be done until three and an automated voice machine would call us and let us know when they were done. I left feeling very satisfied. At about 1:45 exactly an hour from the time we left Hayley called me PERSONALLY to tell me my glasses were ready early. I was thrilled! We went and picked them up and as soon as I walked in I was greeted again by Hayley who had everything ready for me. She was so helpful the whole time!! When we left at about 3pm I got an automated call saying my glasses were done but thanks to Hayley I was told sooner when they were actually available. This made the experience so much better! Four stars for Hayley. I don't know why all the negative reviews, granted it was more than I wanted to pay but I got two great pairs of glasses and one in the same day which I really needed. I also chose 99$ frames. I could see that there weren't very many choices for 69$ but if you want to pay the minimum I can't imagine why you would be so picky. Not only that but I really think you get what you pay for especially when it's for your eyes! Perfect day. read more

Why why why am I just now reading the poor reviews?! As some said make sure you ask and then double check before doing anything here, it's all a lie. First I called and asked if they take my insurance, the guy said yes we take all insurance except Medicare. Got my eye exam and then they told me they don't take my imsirancd... ok... then the doctor walks in not a word, just starts asking questions, super rude and unprofessional, then the ads are all a bunch of bs. The contacts i ordered were marked up double than online and then they quote me that they are "50% off" and the glasses and lens were ridiculous priced as well. When asked about the "specials" they can't do it because it applies to a different location. Finally, I picked up my glasses as the girl was cleaning them the lens fell out has to come back the next day to get them fixed and now two weeks later they fell apart again. Very disappointed in this place. I'm covered under FEDVIP and according to my insurance provider, this place offers full exams. I go to my appointment and it's only a vision test for prescription, by a doc not even in the room. I get COVID is a thing, but there was no optometrist to check the health of my eye with that bright light. I've been wearing glasses for over 30 years, so I know what each eye exam should entail (the puff of air, the focus on the little barn house, and the actual doc checking). On top of that, I ordered 5 pairs of glasses for my son and I, great deal not complaining about the price. However, what should have been 10 days of waiting for them to come in has now turned into a month. So what that your contacted lab is something you can't control. I'm sure I'm not the only customer waiting, get a new lab or give me a discount. Either way, this is unacceptable. You get zero stars. read more

This place is definitely not about customer service at all. Had appointments scheduled and we were treated like cattle. Just get our money and get us out. We are here now for my daughter's follow up for contacts. Appt at 5. Got here at 4:45. Wasn't greeted walking in. Went to deal was told to sign in and sit. The Dr. who is doing the follow up stood at the desk and colored a paper with highlighter, talked and joked with the other lady at the desk and then walked away. She waited until 5 to call my daughter back even though we were the only ones waiting. My daughter is now in a room and this Dr is standing at the desk chatting with fellow employees. Beware! I have been wearing glasses most of my life and this is the only time I have ever had a problem with a pair. They strain my eyes and give me headaches. They just told me that I would get used to them. I have been wearing them for weeks and I am still not "used to them" :/ Eye strain and headaches shouldn't be something you get used to . Also when I put my face on the thing that checks your eyes and determines your prescriptions it had someones mascara on it. I was careful not to touch it.The part where you put your forehead and chin on looked oily like it had not been cleaned either. I should have demanded it be cleaned and I am not sure why I didn't. Be careful with pricing too. Get the price upfront. The way the pricing works is kind of like a flea market.You have to kind of negotiate your price. Never assume you are getting a good deal until you ask all of the details and get a concrete price. The staff is friendly but they seem to lack experience. read more

Soooo I read the reviews and I was expecting this place to be a nightmare, and it wasn't. I came in strictly for a new contact prescription which is always going to cost more than an exam for glasses, so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that this place is under NEW MANAGEMENT! Yes, some of the staff are a little on the airhead/clueless side, but they're not flat out rude and in all fairness, they're really young. The independent doctor that works for them was very patient. I wasn't happy with my prescription and she let me try on different contacts and different prescriptions until I was happy. She could've just given me a number and let me go, instead she made sure the prescription was comfortable by letting me try trial contacts. The GM did happen to help me out when I was ready to pay, so that's probably why my experience was so smooth. My total was way more than I had planned on spending, but I ended up getting glasses and 6 months worth of contact lenses. I received half off the glasses AND the prescription. My glasses alone cost a total of $79!!! That's including the prescription and making them thinner. NO ONE ELSE DOES THIS. They have a lab here so I didn't have to wait for my glasses to be sent out. They do it all right here. The only downfall is that they don't have contacts in stock, those have to be ordered. That's huge for me since I always have contact lens emergencies. However, they gave me a trial pair that will be fine until my contacts come in. Did I mention that I can come back for three more contact exam appointments for FREE! That was also part of the deal. THIS PLACE WILL RIP YOU OFF. NOW I'M OUT $45 FOR AN EYE EXAM. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!IT IS FALSE ADVERTISING. They tell you it is a free eye exam, but i still have 2 charges on my card...one being for a $45 eye exam. I am a single father on a budget. My attitude, my time and my money are something that are very important to me. I had heard about this place from family. I had initially gone to Walmart for a quote. I decided to give this place a try since everyone i know spoke highly about it...boy were they wrong! Although the "the white guy in the suit" that helped them, wasn't there. I walked in on Sunday...one of my days off. After standing at their help desk/podium, i stood there for about 5 minutes. I wasn't greeted, no, "we will be right with you". Gabriel went behind the podium and asked if he could help. I told him i would like an eye exam. he immediately told me "we aren't taking walk ins". I then asked him for the next available appointments, which he advised me of. I told him i would think about it and would like to look around. I was looking at the frames for a bit. I went to the Dr's office in the back to schedule the appointment when i was asked by the Dr "do you have an appointment?" i said no. she said "we can take you in as a walk in" this made me happy to be seen this quickly, yet i felt like i was a second class citizen...as if they didn't want to help me. I paid my $45 dollars for the eye exam. I then advised what I wanted as far as frames and specifics go. I was then given a $300 quote. Long story short, i have 2 charges on my card 1 for $45 and the other for $69. They made me feel as if they were doing me a favor to work with me and giving me a credit for the eye exam, yet I still have the charge on my bill. The manager on duty was not friendly at all and even went as far as to tell me "here is a walk out card." I don't know what it is for and what CR-39 means on the top right hand corner. Are they calling me a name?! I tried calling the 800 number ...not only did they not take my number down correctly for a call back, but the second time I called, they had me on hold for 17 minutes...i thought they had forgotten about me. I then got the district manager's number for Texas and New Mexico, Joseph. he refuses to answer my calls and keeps sending me to voicemail. I guess i'm going to have to further investigate this with the BBB and post this on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to make sure other people aren't mislead, treated rudely, and don't waste their time. Update as of 3:00PM Jose the "general manager" called me shortly before completing this review. He kept pointing out how "professional and courteous" he was throughout the call. I explained several times though out the hour long phone call as to how that is how business should be done. Had I the time and effort to deal with ANOTHER optical place, i would have taken the refund i had initially requested. He kept pointing out the value i was receiving for what I paid for. I kept explaining that it wasn't about the money, per se, it was the individual circumstances that, combined, ruined what my expectations were. From not feeling welcome, to the unfriendly "manager" Lucia, to still having a charge for an eye exam on my card that was supposed to be FREE, to the Representative From the corporate retention department taking down the wrong call back number...and most recently, a call from a manager that called me to educate me on the "process" of how things are done for an hour, almost lost me as a customer, didn't LISTEN to what his customer was saying and couldn't do anything anyway without checking with upper management about what he COULD do for me. All I got out of this is a lesson learned what they COULDN'T do for me. and if you took the time to read this, i would recommend you go to Lens Crafters or any one of the other franchise optical places in town...at least THERE their customer service is always on point and they don't offer something you can't get. NEVER AGAIN STANTON OPTICAL. fool me once. P.S. Joseph has still not answered my calls and voicemails have been left for him requesting to do so. UPDATE AS OF 02/03/2016 I READ A COMMENT FROM STANTON OPTICAL STATING THEY WERE GOING TO GET A REFUND. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY TOLD ME THAT DUE TO MY BAD YELP REVIEW THEY WEREN'T DOING BUSINESS WITH ME. NOT ONLY WERE THEY GOING TO CANCEL MY ORDER, BUT THEY WERE ONLY GOING TO GIVE ME A REFUND FOR $69 NOT INCLUDING $45 FOR THE EYE EXAM DUE TO "SERVICES RENDERED" I WOULD HAVE NEVER OBTAINED AN EYE EXAM AND GONE THERE HAD I KNOWN I WAS GOING TO GET RIPPED OFF LIKE THIS. read more
