It's closed due to retirement of owner. There is a sign saying the owner retired and "thanks for the business".

I get so emotional seeing that handmade little wooden sign "Bennie's Nursery" as we make that left hand turn to head up the mountain. We then blast and sing Christmas songs as we venture up. Friendly smiles are waiting there to greet us. Each and every year they remember us, our story and where we are from. They always hand us a saw and ask "to the top of the mountain?". "Yes, indeed!!" That's where the most beautiful, tall, fragrant, fresh Douglas Firs sit, waiting to be picked and cut. You can of course just come and purchase one pre cut and wrapped, but what's the fun in that?! There's something so unbelievably satisfying in choosing and cutting down your own tree. It's all so exciting for us all for different reasons. The kids run around and dance, play tag and hide and go seek between the trees. Mission: find THE perfect tree begins. We used to find the absolute tallest one they had as we had 15 foot ceilings in our last home. Our trees were rather magnificent. Now we bring a wooden ruler they provide and get a 7-8 foot full, symmetrical beauty. My husband feels tough, saw in hand, ready to get his manly stance on and cut that baby down. I of course have to kneel down and make a few cuts also! Every cut counts after all. This Mama takes a step back and watches it all, thinking back on our visit for our very first tree we cut down here almost a decade ago. I was super pregnant and super emotional. Then I recall upon the following year there for the first time as a family. And then the following year pregnant again and having just revealed our big news to my husband's family at Thanksgiving. Of course then the following year as a family of four for the first time. The next year we visited with our first family dog we just surprised the girls with mere days earlier. The next year a new baby kitten awaits us a home to complete our happy family. Life always seems to be changing each time we visit but there are a few things that stay the same... how much we adore this tradition and how joy filled we leave this magical place each and every year. The service, quality and prices have never changed either. The staff is just wonderful! They are there to help you every step of the way. They will be as active or not depending on how ambitious you are. They are also more than willing to snap family photos. You can choose to drive up the mountain if you have a SUV or truck or you can ride in the back of one of theirs. We chose that this year for the first time ever. The kiddos were finally big enough to just hop in the back and sit on the hay bails. They loved it! Try it! After hauling your tree back down the mountain, the staff wraps it up and helps you tie it on top of your car. We used to bring our own rope but they also have some readily available so fear not. They write you out a ticket with the height, type and price and you pay at the hut. Cash only! The prices here are insanely reasonable especially for the size you receive! We can't believe the trees half the size and twice as much in the city back home. They have told us that they also provide and deliver trees for some pretty important people in NYC. Hot cocoa and cookies await us in the barn where fresh made swag and wreaths the wives of the workers make with extras that fall from the trees hang. You receive a discount on these items of you purchase your tree here. The smells of the cocoa and the pine needles fill the barn. The crisp mountain air all around. It's all so incredibly perfect. I love watching excitement on the girl's faces as they watch the most perfect tree being tied to the roof of the car, ready to head back down to Philly and eventually when it settles, ready to be decorated. It's all pretty special. We are so glad to have Bennie's be a part of our favorite holiday tradition for the past 9 years and years and years to come. No other place we would ever cut our tree! Cash only and don't forget extra for tip!

Let me first state that besides what I am writing my review for, the staff at Lowe's have been…read morereally great and other departments. I wrote a big review on HD's yelp regarding my situation with Lowe's and why I went with the HD, but wanted to go into detail of my experience with Lowes. This review pertains just to flooring because as I had mentioned above, everyone and everywhere else in the store was great to us. We went to Lowe's as we just purchased a home in Clarks Summit and one of our immediate to do's was to purchase new carpeting for the living room and 3 bedrooms. We were needing new carpeting installed at the least, a week before April 6th, 2018 to air out for my fiancee's bachelorette weekend and the bridesmaids coming up for it. We went because of their promotion with free install, which I know can save you a couple hundred bucks and free moving of furniture etc (this is extremely helpful as I tore my shoulder and had surgery just short of a year ago come next month). Cool, so we go in and look at carpeting (particularly stainmaster cause we do have a dog and I like being outdoors and just forget to kick my shoes off, etc). As we are looking around, we come across some laminate flooring and after some talking, we decide the two smaller bedrooms will get the laminate, but ask Joe if laminate is installed for free as well if it totals more than $699 and were told, YES, in front of myself, fiancee and her parents. So we think, damn, that's a good deal and no brainer for us. We finally pick out our rugs and put our deposit down for the measuring of all 4 rooms which I believe was $35. Measuring was done within 2 weeks while I was away for business and my fiancee was present for them to come and do so. They come in, do their job and leave. We go to Lowe's afterwards when the estimate is done, to see our price and pay for it. Thankfully we did because the wrong colors were going to the wrong room! Also, we saw we were being charged $1k for installation of the laminate. $1k! When the material of padding and flooring was $1,005! We decided to learn on youtube on how to install laminate and though my butt cheeks and thighs were burning for days cause of the walking up and down to use my miter saw and getting on the floor to install, it was worth saving a thousand bucks. We brought this up to Paul (May have got his name wrong, as Joe who we did everything with wasn't there) and he apologized and said there must've been a miscommunication. We went over everything and he showed us the transition pieces that were going to be used and we saw it wouldn't have matched well with the flooring the rug would've met in the family room and kitchen. We decided to cut that out as well considering our transitions were still in perfect condition and couldn't figure out why we would've needed them in the first place. (we were being sold on something we didn't need) We were told one color will take up to 6 weeks to come in as it was special order, no problem cause it would've left enough time for it to air out before my fiancee's bachelorette weekend. Come install day, the guys brought a rug that was cut incorrectly (it was cut to the size of the master bedroom), but THANKFULLY he brought 2 pieces the same size (sarcasm) and would be able to do the living room, but with a HUGE seam running in the middle of the living room! We told him no, but he kept trying to tell us he would make it so the seam isn't noticeable, but nah, with time it will be and if I am paying a couple thousand for rugs that have a 20 year warranty, I want it to look good for at least 15 if I get it cleaned yearly. The district manager talks to me and says that they will get the rug within 2 weeks for a new install and apologized a thousand times. I get it, mistakes happen cause we are human, but I didn't appreciate him (installer) trying to get me to bite on a obvious flaw. This was Mid February. Come March 13th, I see HD is running the same special, but no cost for removing carpeting. So I say we go the 14th to Lowes and cancel our order at this point and look elsewhere. What happens? Lowe's calls us saying they have the carpet that was cut incorrectly and can install and I ask, where's my master bedroom's carpeting and get told it still isn't in. 9 WEEKS AND YOU STILL DON'T HAVE IT?! SHOULDN'T THIS HAVE BEEN SORTED TO SEE IF A RUSH CAN BE DONE?! I tell them no thank you and went to Lowe's, cancelled my order. When I went to customer service and explained the situation, the woman, who was a sweetheart looked at me with a "WTF, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" face and told me she will get this cancelled and reimbursed to me + the non refundable $35 for measuring/deposit. After that, went to HD and had my measuring done and carpet was scheduled to April 6th (bachelorette's weekend), but had to reschedule it for the 11th. We started the total process on the 15th when we paid to get everything in motion and cancelled March 14th. 2 months later!
