This Staples has been my go-to for shipping for quite some time, but this week I needed printing services. I placed an order online for pickup, and later in the week, I placed a second one. When I came to pick it up, Snayder helped me, and he was not only kind and helpful but also incredibly attentive. What really stood out was that without even looking at the order details, he remembered off the too of his head, how to spell my name! That may seem small, but for me it was such a nice touch. A lot of people automatically spell my name as "Eileen," but he remembered it's with an "A," and I truly appreciated that extra attention to detail. When I got my prints, they were vibrant, crisp, and high quality. It's great to have the convenience and speed of this location and also its excellent customer service. I came here today to pick up an item an item that was on sale for this whole back to school thing. As soon as I came in I immediately stopped the man at the door and asked where the item I wanted was located. He pointed me in the right direction. I got to witness someone's child throw a tantrum at the door becuse they did not want to buy school supplies... bummer for the parent. I then made my way to the register where I was greeted by Yesenia she was nice and polite when she was focused on me the customer. But, I watched her send out text messages while I was still at the register. I hope it was not because the conversation seemed pretty important. I don't think it is great customer service to be on your phone while you have a guest and a line but, what do I know. The store was clean and organized and aside from the computers moving at snails speed. They really need to work on updating there system to something faster. I spent like 7 minutes at the register waiting for the machine to go from one thing to the next. I would go back to enjoy some of the deals they had. read more

Recently my Ethernet adapter was laid to rest, unexpectedly, I was offline for several days. A friend (nothing beyond friends as the dude is apathetic with a dead soul and empty heart) who is a tech geek took me to this Staples as we walked between aisles in search for network cables and LAN adapters which were all locked in a enclosed glass case. To our utter shock and complete dismal, as my good friend were formerly a Staples employee leading to a manager in a pastlife, this location's customer service is non-existent! There were NO employees in sight to assist us with questions or opening the enclosed glass case to show us the options for Ethernet adapters. At this difficult time, some people need to use the computers at Staples. Bad enough that they rip you off at the rate of $18.00 per hour (30 cents per minute) but the credit card strips don't work properly. Wouldn't authorize my payments after a dozen tried. I'm glad the libraries are offering computer use again. read more

He underpromised and over delivered in several ways that really made a difference to my project, which was running behind and in a tight spot. Simon, the evening Operations Manager, referred to my "Jewish ancestors" while following me as I was leaving the store after refusing to help resolve a customer service concern, for which I had requested to see a Manager. He had also come within a couple of inches of me, which I interpreted as a physical threat. I called the police, who (and I understand) could not take action, as he did not actually touch me. The above was preceded by Bryan at the tech desk speaking profanity into a cell phone for an extended period while I and another customer waited; he later said he was speaking with his boss. There are of course at least two sides to every story. I was indeed peeved at the prospect of having been possibly sold something other than how it was presented when I had paid for it. (That issue remains unresolved and a reasonable manager would have been able to clarify it one way or the other.) That, however, did not warrant the above actions. read more

This staples location is just awful in my personal opinion. I went in there today to purchase a Bluetooth headset for my husband for an early birthday gift. The employees were just standing around talking, I stood by the glass case for about 20 mins no one offered help till I was walking out. I didn't even respond. So happy Staples, 5860 Broadway, Bronx, is close to where I live! I needed to fax and copy documents and this is the spot! Staples opens at 7 am through 9 pm. I like to go early and gets business taken care of. To use the copier, fax, scan it's initially 5.00, then afterwards a small price per sheet! There's 5 machines and 4 computers, for customer use. I've not seen it to the point of people waiting to use a machine, since there are other business to conduct. The staff is helpful and courtesies. read more

I'm always a fan of free wifi and was thrilled to learn that Staples has....dun dun dun.... free wifi!! So not only can I shop for office equipment that I probably won't see a penny for even though its for work purposes, I can be super duper productive and check my work email. The sad thing is, it's true.. I check my work email way too frequently. Is there a self-help book about that? ANYWAY! Went a bit off tangent there. I recommend that you check out the clearance table- usually at the back of the store: they've got some pretty nifty deals. For example, I squealed with joy when I picked up a uniball pack of 3 multi color- black red and blue gel pens and paid I think $0.50 for it! Maybe it's been a while since I've last had the urgency to visit a staples, but I noticed that they've stocked up on non-office related products as well. 7am- 10 pm hours are sweet! Why is it, some places you just don't have any luck with? I have successfully shopped at other Staples locations across the city, but I feel like every time I come here, something goes slightly wrong. On my most recent trip, I wanted to get some lightbulbs, but apparently they just remodeled and no longer carry any at all. Previously, I bought toilet paper here, but then went shopping at Stop & Shop across the store and found it was cheaper. When I came back to return the pack, the manager said they would price match, but by then, I didn't want to return to the grocery store and just asked them to refund my money. One of my pet peeves is the decline of customer service in practically every situation I encounter: restaurants, bars, utility companies, etc. So, it is refreshing when someone provides not only good, but exceptional customer service. Such was the case when I went to this Staples branch earlier today. I am a notorious pen saver. There is just something about writing pens that I love. The other day, I decided to clean house and went through my entire collection of pens (google the Collyer brothers), which numbered in the hundreds. I divested myself of the overwhelming majority of them, opting to donate them to local agencies. However, I was stuck with a problem. Some of my favorite writing utensils had no ink. As I entered Staples, Andrew, the lovely elderly gentleman, asked if he could be of assistance. After 25 minutes, we found all the refills I was looking for. He was patient, engaging and reminded me of the customer service that was prevalent when I was a kid. During the course of our conversation, I asked if he minded if I asked his age. He wanted me to guess. I said 70's. He thanked me and said 85! God Bless him and eternal kudos to Staples for hiring him. These young whippersnappers could take a lesson or two from him. read more

Had to make a quick run in last night--about fifteen minutes before closing and the staff members who were there were not the friendliest. I work retail so i loathe people who come in right before we close, but my trip was very quick and i just had to print some documents. The copy & print associate was not happy to have been at her job and had an attitude when the printer stopped working and she had to fix it. The lady at checkout had an attitude also. Smh. I get it, no one in retail appreciates those customers who run into the store moments upon closing but, have some kind of professionalism in your work please. Boss's Birthday is coming up, and she is obsessed with fancy pens, so when I thought of where to buy her gift the first place that popped into my head was Staples... I mean they are supposed to be a supply store right?? Walk in and is greeted by a very old fella, but I enjoyed the warm welcome... unfortunately the other employees do not take as much pride in their jobs as this old fart because every other employee was rude, dismissive and lazy... I had to ask 5 different employees where the professional pens were, and let me warn you finding these employees were not easy, it's like Ms. Pac man trying to get those little ghostly thingy lol Anyway I finally find it on my own and there is a pen case display with only one pen and it was grade A ugly! I asked employee #5 where the other pens were and his educated response to me was "ughhh that's all what we get, we sold out a few weeks ago" A FEW WEEKS AGO?? Come on now, really? This place really deserve 1 star but they get an extra one for Mr. Saddlebags... he said goodbye to me =) read more

This place is like stuck in the 70's Circa 80's and in a need of a makeover. The Strip mall it in needs some TLC. The workers don't smile and need to be a little cheerful..the lights flicker. Like Gabriel said in an earlier review, you're not going to get great customer service in a place like Staples, because, quite frankly, a lot of the people working there are doing so because they have no other options. That said, when you do run into a friendly and helpful employee, it's a nice surprise and definitely bears mention. I bought an office chair and a 6 pack of printer paper here and the employees on the sales floor were very friendly and helped me load everything into my car. Whenever I need to replace an ink cartridge, I head over here, give the woman at the front the empty one, and I'm in and out in a couple minutes. read more

This Staples is always grossly understaffed. You will never be there for less than a half hour, even to get/ship the simplest thing. You will usually only find two or three employers managing multiple stations. Terrible every time. read more

My sole computer, a Sony Vaio laptop, recently died of old age. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, and my wife's need for video medical appointments, I went to the closest dealer in computers. I informed the salesperson that this would be my only computer, and I was convinced to purchase a HP Envy model PC, complete with Staples' Premier 4Yr service contract and including a 2Yr Virus Shield with McAfee LifeSafe. Upon receiving the new computer, which had imbedded my last computer's memory, I was unable to log onto the internet. When I called Staples' tech support, I was told the problem was with my Verizon Fios network. I called Verizon to no avail, and when I attempted to telephone HP, their machine told me that due to the pandemic I could only reach them by computer! I was finally forced to call Microsoft for their Windows 10 software; they were glad to help and reset their software. But I then found out that there was no 2Yr Virus Shield installed! I then contacted McAfee, who said that the subscription had never been registered; moreover, the activation code listed on their contract was not an activation code, as it contained only 15 characters as opposed to the requisite 25. Staples Tech Support insisted that McAfee was wrong. I called Customer Support at Staples; they said all I could do was go to this location and ask for a refund . If you need a new computer with reputable tech support, avoid this Staples at all costs!!! read more

2 stars because they always have what I need and I have happy nostalgia in regards to this location. I came here a lot growing up and it was fun. Now? Well it's obvious any sort of professionalism no longer exists. My most recent experience last week: I stopped by to pick up a few items. Got my items but not without a bunch of judge-y stares and side-eyes from bored cashiers. I've worked in retail in the past so I get it--I know how much retail sucks.. but DAMN. Come on. Our cashier (who was OBVIOUSLY on shift) was some straight-out-of or barely out of high school-aged girl eating a bag of chips, drinking a Coke, and on her phone... all while simultaneously ringing my items up. I love food and I'm not picky person but that was disgusting. Nobody wants grease or cheese crumbs smeared on their items. I thanked her and of course didn't get any "you're welcome" "no problem" not even a slight smile back or adolescent stare. Lol okay read more

do not attempt to use the "so called ups" service at 5680 bdwy.bx. ny 10463 - the telephone # listed -call it and you get recording: number out of service. call the main line for staples and you will get a person who claims, even though they work several feet away, tells you he doesn't have the number & will transer you over. after being transferred over, no one picks up. tried this 3 times and same results. the store itself is ok , the ups service is a joke. read more

If you are considering using this store to send a UPS package, BEWARE! The clerks who staff the UPS counter are going to try to jack up your price. I found a shipment price online that I liked, but when I got to the store, they told me the price was double what I found online. I discovered that the clerk changed my packaging and value in the system and that resulted in a MUCH higher price! So instead of an overnight shipping, I had to choose 6-day shipping because of the price. Over the years, I have seen dozens of customers leave the store without sending their package because the price quoted in the store was nowhere near the price quoted online. If you must use this UPS counter, print out the quote you see online in advance from UPS.com and take it to the store and don't let them change a thing. I complained to UPS but they say they have no power over the store. This is not the first time I have come up against this problem. Don't be taken - the clerks are trying to rip you off! read more

I like this place because they always have the ink and toner necessary for my business. The managers are very pleasing and my needs are always taken cared of without hesitation. However, the other people who come here to shop are animals, they destroy the store, leave stuff on the floor (food, drink containers, products they don't want) all throughout the store and let me not talk about the piss bottles outside in the parking lot. The staff is great, the animals that shop with me aren't. Extremely lousy, rude, disrespectful to the cordial employees and inconsiderate and selfish to the other shoppers. I'm 45 years old and I have 20 years of retail experience and with all confidence i can say that staples has the worst customers in the bronx. read more

Awful service and super expensive! I came in to send a fax and the prices weren't posted. They charged me $2.19 PER PAGE!!! I could have bought a fax machine for less! The printing center is the worst. People that work there are complete imbeciles. The computer work stations are equipped with very slow computers - and you are being charged by the second. If you are printing anything for yourself from these stations, not only do you get very poor quality, smudges and all,l but you also get royally ripped off. I've had a few bad experiences with the printing center at this location - other staples have been just fine. I really will try to avoid this one at all costs from now on. read more

Yesterday, November 16, 2009, I decided to buy a replacement TN-350 black toner cartridge for my Brother laser printer. I checked staples.com and found that the price of the Staples-brand remanufactured cartridge was not that much less than that of the original equipment cartridge, made by Brother. The latter is Staples Item #585456 and the price shown for this item was (and, one day later, still is) $66.99. I clicked the "Check in Store Availability" link, entered my zip code and found that the item was "in stock" at my local Staples store (5680 Broadway and W. 234th St., Bronx, NY). When I found the item in the store, though, I got an unpleasant surprise. The displayed price was $76.99! I complained about the discrepancy to a salesperson, who directed me to the store manager. He went to a computer, brought up the Staples web site, saw that I was correct and agreed to charge me $66.99. When I asked for an explanation for the higher price in the store, his response amounted to no more than hand-waving. I pity the unsuspecting customer who enters the store without having looked on line or who is not as assertive of his/her rights as I was. This dual pricing amounts to a bait-and-switch scam by Staples. They should be forced to end this disgraceful practice. read more

This is not my favorite Staples. Frequently the lines are long and the staff is overworked and understandably tired. However, my most recent experience has now made me thrilled to shop here. I had a large, specific print job I needed done and the timing was sensitive and I was nervous and worried because well, it's easy for things to go wrong or get messed up. I ended up calling the store to confirm my order after placing it online and was lucky to speak with Jazmine. This young woman was incredibly capable. She knew what to do, how to do it, what questions to ask me, and just all around made the experience wonderful. She was a pleasure to work with, both in terms of the fact that she was a pro at her job and because she was just friendly and reassuring. I had absolute confidence in her and the job was done right. I will absolutely go back to this Staples again just to take advantage of her awesomeness. I couldn't have asked for better service. read more
