I thought this was a standard Staples. I only went in to print something so this review is for the copy and print area only. There were 3 people working when I went and they were all busy helping customers. I brought a flash drive and was notified that the copiers themselves have print capabilities. The machines are all updated which was awesome. I basically put in my credit card, inserted the flash drive, and it printed. All without a person or formal computer. It's very convenient. read more

Staples on Bank street. Absolutely terrible customer service. Will not shop there again. I tried to return defective printer ink cartridges but they would not reimburse me as they were not in original box. I was communicating with Brother to see if problem was my printer or ink. They said ink was defective probably stored incorrectly. Brother kindly offered to send me replacement. Staples said that since Brother was sending me ink cartridges for free they didn't not need to reimburse me . They asked for a note from Brother saying staples should reimburse me. Brother stated they cannot dictate Staples return policy and apologized for my inconvenience. The staff I dealt with should not be working in customer service. Very rude, unhelpful. I was actually quite appalled . Staples should replace their defective products. read more

Attempted to return a laptop. Didn't have the receipt which is on me but the staples.ca website clearly states that if I brought in the original card they could look it up. The manager Ali on shift was so incredibly demeaning and rude. His first Cut me off while talking to me, refused to look up an order and when I called was told that that was store policy and that he should have done it. Went as far as insulting my physical appearance and humiliating me. I guess God forbid I run errands on my one day off in sweatpants and no makeup. And then he practically threw my laptop I was trying to return at me after he dropped it on the counter in disgust. It's one thing to refuse a return it's another to go out of his way to show how little he cares for others property and flicking it back at me. If I started going around the store and started smashing laptops against the counters I would have kicked out but you allow your managers to mishandle bought merchandise. He acted like the laptop was covered in shit. I'm not sure if accepting returns personally affect his freaking bottom line but he treated me like processing it was the world's biggest inconvenience to his day and not his literal job. He literally said to me " I'm not going to do anything for you, you can go call customer support and they can deal with you" and rolled. His. Eyes. At. Me. I understand not accepting returns without a receipt but there was absolutely no reason to be treated the way I was by him he was frustrated and rude from the very first second of our conversation and devolved into personal comments on my appearance. I had a seamless experience at this location trying to find the right cartridge for my printer. They Ali and Alex ordered the right one for me and received it in 2 days. They even helped me to install it and tested it for me. I could not have had a better experience. Compared to Best Buy these people and the staff there were incredibly kind and helpful read more

i've also had a horrible experience here like the previous reviewer, and evidently everyone else on google that reviewed this place. I purchased a printer that was on sale here last month, I was completely confused as to which printer was on sale since it wasn't marked, i had to match it up with the flyer. I went to buy the printer, the cashier(turned out to be the assistant manager) asked if anyone had helped me, nobody did so I said no. She said that the reason she is asking is because this particular printer is missing a printer cord, which would cost an additional $30. She then told me to get a more expensive printer because it would save me money in the long run. I really just wanted the cheapest printer, especially since I knew the printer cords are like $2 at the dollarama. She persisted for about 10 minutes until I finally asked in frustration "can I please just buy the printer?" She reluctantly let me. Turns out when I got home that the printer wasn't compatible with my laptop (the manager said it was compatible with Macbooks). What the hell kind of printer doesn't work with Macs? So many students have Macbooks now. Anyway, I tried to return it, after never using it. The manager said that it was clearly very well used and wouldn't return it. I was mad. After I stated I never used it before, him and his little gang of employees decided to gang up on me insisting that I was wrong. K. If you say so. The manager also accused me of using it since I waited so long to return it (27 days). Theres a 30 day return policy and I just procrastinated. He didn't respect the return policy and was a smug a-hole about not returning it either. I was not pleased. I certainly won't be returning. I'm going to attempt to return it at another location since I'm sure this Staples is just shit. Edit: returned the printer at the location on Carling with 0 problem. This Staples location is in a really convenient, downtown location and shockingly, they have many parking spaces available, which is great. Unfortunately, I've seen way too many Staples customers be ticketed for parking here. I have a few things to say of this Staples: I purchased a computer here a few years back for over $1000 with a warranty (which cost another hundred or so). When my computer crashed less than a year of owning it, while still under warranty, I took it in to be repaired, and it took MONTHS without any resolution. I'm not kidding- months. Like 4 months. Finally, they agreed to offer me a credit for the value of my computer, which was apparently a measly $300 dollars... Additionally, I didn't really want to give any more money to Staples, so that was a real bummer. I opted for a MacBook, so I didn't have to deal with them, and so any potential issues could be dealt with via Apple. Today, I went in to Staples again to do some printing from my online Dropbox. It was something like $0.30 a minute to use the computer, and $0.95 PER PAGE for printing. Almost a dollar a page for printing in addition to the fee you pay for using the computer!? Such prices are ludicrous if you ask me. When I asked the person behind the counter for help, they pointed to the sign with the prices and walked away leaving me struggling to shut down the computer to avoid further fees to my credit card just for being logged on. AWESOME. *Do yourself a favour and head over to Katari Imaging on Elgin Street. Staff are way friendly, and the prices are incredibly more affordable. They printed for $7 what Staples would have charged $56 for. read more

This is probably the worst Staples in the city. It's very convenient, but that's where the attraction ends. I've had many unpleasant experiences at this store, but two stand out. The first one was when I went to buy a monitor. The store was mostly empty with the cashiers standing around with nothing to do. I went to the tech counter, but the person was busy with customers. I waited for a bit, but then approached the cashiers and asked. I was told there were only 2 people that could "deal with tech" and both were busy. I waited and waited and considered leaving more than once, but I really needed it. 15 MINUTES LATER, one of the tech people was finally free. I assumed they'd have to into the back to get the monitor, but I watched as she climbed a ladder and got the monitor off the shelf. So...only 2 people in the entire store are allowed to climb a ladder?? I would've done it myself if I'd known they were sitting on the shelf. The second (and most egregious) was when I went to buy a laptop. The one I liked most was $100 over my budget, so I settled for second-best. TWO DAYS LATER, the one I liked went on sale for $100 off and the one I actually bought was $20 off. You can't tell me the sales clerk didn't know they were both going on sale 2 days later. I supposed I could've returned it, but by then I'd spent hours loading software and it wasn't worth the $100 to have to do it all over again. When I complained to Staples corporate, I was completely and totally ignored. The convenience is a big plus, but only if you need office supplies or small tech products and only if they're on sale. Don't EVER go there to buy any sort of major technology. There are plenty of other more reputable (and cheaper) electronics outlets in the city, so don't waste your time or money on Staples - at least not this location. I was at the copy centre today! I needed to print a super important 91 page document. The woman behind the counter was amazing! She helped me not only patiently but when the order didn't print out right she did it all over again for me and helped me with the file! Just a sweet amazing person! I really wish I had asked for her name! This will be my go to Staples from now on! Plus FREE PARKING!!!!! That is always a plus in that area! read more

I brought my laptop here to get fixed because it crashed and had a few viruses. The people there told me I needed a new hard drive. I didn't know much about computers so I believed them. It took 2-3 weeks for them to fix it waiting to get the hard drive in. They charged me $300 for the repair. When I took it home, they hadn't even installed Windows properly. There was no Media Player anymore, and when I brought it back and told them, they told me to just download VLC player, which I did, but is ridiculous because Windows comes with its own player. There was no Adobe reader on it anymore. I told them this, and they told me I had to download it myself. Like, I paid $300 for that thing to be fixed, least they could have done was installed all the basic programs. Then I noticed that when I typed in Word, the letters would jump and end up in different lines to the point where I couldn't even type one coherent line. Of course, they just told me it was my computer. So I brought it to Future Shop and South Keys and paid the $100 to have everything wiped and reinstalled. I was out $400 in the end, $300 for Staples bullshit repairs. Do not go to this location. I never had a problem this bad at the Future Shop at South Keys or the Staples in Pembroke, ON where I had originally bought the laptop. read more

Poor customer service- you will be ignored, spoken to rudely, or they will be simply clueless and unhelpful. One bad day is one thing but after several visits and experiences it seems to be business as usual. If you ask for help be prepared to feel like you've completely ruined someones day. Don't interrupt the employees for assistance when they're talking to each other. It's rude. Just let them approach you. (you may have to wait a while) Just a crappy big box store staffed with employees who could care less. read more

Obviously they have too few staff, and because the first person who answered didn't follow through (at a time of low demand), their level of service is frankly, low. read more

Really bad customer service all around. I came in ready to spend good money on a printer and some school supplies. The attendant helping me was not very helpful and seemed to not care about what I wanted out of my printer. I then looked around for a few other things and nobody ever once asked if I needed help finding anything. I decided to only buy a few things because I didn't want to spend too much on the printer since I wasn't really sure about it. It's a shame that they don't value customer service at this store because I am usually a big fan of staples. read more
