Amanda in the copy center was soooo helpful. She's a genius working with the tech stuff and treats the customers with patience.

They will not pick up the phone or answer emails. Sent them a print via email yesterday and nothing, no way to contact. Horrible.

Because I was moving, the new laptop got packed away before even coming out of the box. A month later I started up the new Lenovo and the screen immediately began to glitch. My new machine was defective right out of the box. I took it back to Staples thinking it would be a simple exchange. It was not. Their story policy did not all for the return/exchange as i missed the return window for electronics. Staples tried to bring the machine up but the defective monitor did not allow for and repair/diagnosis. Rats! But the machine was still under factory warranty. I placed a trouble ticket on the Lenovo website and was assigned a case on February 2, 2021. I waited about two weeks, thinking I would at least have a follow-up message about my machine. I replied to the email with my case number asking for an estimate. I use my laptop for my writing gig on the side (and to post these Yelp reviews!) Bottom line, I needed to get back on the web ASAP. I frequent Topsham where this unassuming little shop is located on the second floor of suite 2 in Topsham Fair Mall and thought, I'll check it out. I was impressed by the cozy waiting room, masks were being enforced due to covid, and social distance measures were put into place, clear dividers were used to shield customers and staff. I sat down with owner/head tech Josh who specializes in Lenovos. He was sympathetic to my plight and said Lenovo will probably never get back to me, so he offered to take over my repair claim and with his magic connections he'd give them a call. WHAT A RELEIF! I was able to unload my headache and put it in the hands of a professional repair tech who has over 15 years experience in the industry. Mr. Mason provided top-notch customer service, he really empathized with my plight. I trust my machine is in good hands. Skip the big box, check out the Nerd Barn for computer, phone, tablet, etc. repair needs.

I've brought my amp to a few other places over the years and have been let down until my buddy recommended I check out Steve at Synaptic Amps. This was over 3 or 4 years ago when I first contacted him and I haven't looked back. Steve loves tubes and tube circuitry and it clearly shows in his work and the way he talks about what he can do for your amp. I've had two specific projects he's been apart of, my Fender Twin Rewire and the construction of my very own model to my specs called 'Tempest'. When I first brought my Fender twin to him I was just looking for some repair work. Some friends of mine in the music community here in Portland warned me that he could make my amp sound like it never had before so be prepared for greatness. Steve not only fixed my amp but completely hand wired it for me drastically changing the sound from cold and uninspiring to a warm, punchy, clear monster with detailed highs and a huge controlled low end. I was playing a Fender Twin Reissue amp that was wired with a big old pcm board. Steve gutted my amp and rewired it by hand and just like that I had a new amp similar to the way they used to be built by Fender. You might not think that rewiring an amp can't do a whole lot to the sound of the amp but you're wrong. Additionally, he built the amp to my playing style and specs by tailoring the EQ section to my semi-hollow body guitar. I am a musician, sound engineer and session musician with a huge need to have a signature sound that speaks to me and the people I'm playing to whether it be live or in the studio. With the transformation my Twin went through, I was instantly more inspired than I had ever had been in all of my years of playing. I owe that to Steve and his attention to crafting an amp that worked with the sound I was trying to achieve. I was so thrilled with the way that my Twin turned out that I went back a year later wanting him to build me a practice amp. That quickly morphed into him building me my own signature amp that is now my main go-to amp. The Twin I still use all the time at my studio for recording purposes and also outdoor gigs where I need a little more power. We named the new Synaptic amp 'Tempest' and it's constructed like a tank and looks and sounds absolutely amazing. Steve designed the schematic to work with my style of playing again and also built the speaker cab that goes with it. Details such as lots of clean headroom, a very characteristic EQ section and a buffered FX loop were just some of the many versatile features found on this amp. Love firing this thing up every time I play. I just couldn't be happier with what Steve is able to achieve for me every time he works on projects for me. I've tried to spread the word as much as I can to other guitarists looking for a tube freak that can morph their current amps into inspirational tools. Steve's super attentive, great to communicate with and his prices are more than fair for the amount of work you get. What's very important is that he can turn things around for you pretty quickly and if you're a gigging musician you know how important that is to have someone that can get it done fast. If you're serious about your sound and you need repair work, a mod or a new amp, do yourself a favor and contact Steve. He's the best in the business.

This has been genuinely one of the most frustrating experiences I have had with a business. I…read morebrought in my relatively new Xbox because it randomly just stopped turning on, and I couldn't seem to find out what was wrong with it. I brought the Xbox into Techy around March 20th, right as I was about to leave for Spring break for a little over a week, and I was charged about $50 for a diagnostic. I told them to keep the Xbox at the store for the week, thinking that would be more than enough time to find the issue and repair it. When I returned, I called the store and was told that the issue couldn't be resolved at that location, and that the Xbox was sent to Florida for some internal work. That itself was not the problem, as there was nothing Techy could have done but that in order for the Xbox to be fixed. The issue was that I called right at the end of March, either the 30th or the 31st, to inquire about the status, and that's when they told me it was in Florida. I was given a time frame of when it would be ready, which was mid April at the earliest, and the very end of April at the latest (in the words of the person I spoke with over the phone). They also repeatedly told me that they would call back with confirmations and updates, which they did not do a single time. April came and went, and I called at the end of April to get an update, and was told that it wasn't ready, and they hadn't even received any info from Florida. Again, they said they would call me back, and they didn't. I was very busy with school work from college for the next few weeks, so I didn't call back until mid May when my semester ended (they did not call at all in that time frame even though they said they would). They said it was still not ready, and that they could ship it to my home address. At this point, their estimates were already way off, but I gave them my info and told them to ship the repaired Xbox to my home when it was done. It is currently July 9th, and I still haven't received it. I recently called to inquire yet again, and they told me that the reason it was delayed was the 4th of July, even though over 3 weeks had already passed since the Xbox arrived back in Waterville. I live in Massachusetts, and I'm no expert on shipping, but I feel like 4 weeks to ship a single thing from Maine to MA should not take that long. Overall, this was just an incredibly frustrating experience with little to no communication from Techy. I will say though, that all of the employees were very pleasant, nice people, so nothing against their characters. I just wish that they were more realistic in their estimates, and also more communicative with their clients.
