We were visiting family at the Lake and I googled ipad repair and found Off the Hook. I called and the gentleman said he could repair it for $90, and I let him know I'd come by the following day. The next morning, I contacted him to confirm that we were coming and and he gave me his address. Driving up, it turns out to be in a sketchy trailer park. I guess I should've turned around right there, but the gentleman sounded professional on the phone and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. We get to his trailer and the man says that he has 2 customers ahead of me, and I show him the screen and ask if we can come back after lunch to pick it up, which he was fine with. After lunch, I contact him to see if its ready and he says it will be done in 20 mins, so I tell him that I will come by soon and just wait outside. We arrive and in 10 mins he comes out to my car with the iPad. The screen looks fine but lock screen was on, which was kinda odd, but I assumed that he had to reset the iPad and then didn't have the password and for some reason entered in random numbers a few times to get locked out for 1 hr. I was unsure about paying but I didn't want to wait for an hour, and he had to leave. He let me know that there was a 30 day warranty and not to worry, so that gave me some relief. An hour or so later, my nephew tries the ipad, and the touch screen doesn't work. Ugh. I immediately contacted the vendor and sent him a video of us trying to get the ipad to work and the touch didn't do anything. He said that he was receiving another screen the next day, and he would replace it. I thought he got a defect and I wasn't too concerned. The following day, I called him mid-afternoon to see if he had received it, and he said the tracking was originally for the morning delivery but updated to 8pm. I let him know we would be leaving the lake the next day and that we planned to go canoeing, but could come early to get it done. I didn't get a response that night and the next morning I ask if he received the screen and told him we could come by after canoeing. He says it should be here today and he apologized. After canoeing, I asked if we could come by, and he said he was running errands but is trying to hurry to resolve this issue. I asked if he had an estimate, and let him know that we planned to leave that evening. He says "if i'm not back bf you head out I'll refund". I let him know that we'd prefer to get it fixed rather than get a refund. He doesn't reply and at 8pm, I let him know that we are leaving and to please process a refund. No response. The next afternoon, I told him to confirm if the refund had been processed, as I hadn't seen anything on my side and he said "Yes, it'll be done today". I don't get a refund, and for the next week, I message him almost daily with a status update, as I'm now getting concerned that we got scammed. I get different excuses; his phone got stolen and he can't get into Venmo, he's waiting for money to transfer from his square account, he's getting a loan from his bank and waiting for it to clear, and finally that he's got something personal going on in his life outside of business. Sadly, after 16 days of excuses, I tell him that I'll need to process a claim via Venmo if I'm not refunded and that is where I am right now. He confirms 6 times that he will refund me, and somewhere in there he mentions deducting the cost of the screen, which was never mentioned previously, and its defective. Do yourself a favor and go to a legit store. There is one by Andy's ice cream shop that is a normal business. Sadly, I had to learn a lesson the hard way. If you search his other reviews, there are many other issues, and he mentions that nobody reached out to him prior to leaving a review. I've given him now over a month to make this right, and I'll attach my text thread as proof so he can't say I've never tried to work it out. This is no way to run a business.

Secondly, he told me that he would purchase a new Chromebook I had but claimed he had to go to the bank first. I agreed to come back by later that day. He also said he would be interested in any other electronics I might have. I went home, came back as agreed and he said he wanted them all but hadn't gotten to the bank yet. So I came back the next day, door was locked during open hours on door, I texted and he said he was out to lunch, back in an hour. Against my better judgment, I came back and he still didn't have the money to purchase my items. A week later he still claims not to have it. From my standpoint, he is all talk and no action. Don't waste your time.

Get told that the phone they got was a stolen phone so they had to get her another one. She went to pick it up on Saturday and it is clearly not a new phone. Store owner said it's refurbished. I told them to keep it and just give her money back and he says he will but doesn't have the money and asked us to wait till the following Monday. The following week we got the run around the entire week. He is never in the store. When he would tell us to come to the store we would show up and it is closed. Dodged texts and calls. We just keep getting the "give me a few days or a week" run around, going on two weeks now. So tired of dealing with this mess. I really wish we would have never walked in this store. So now I tell my daughter she is just out her money or file a civil suit... worst experience.
