I would give 0 Stars if I could. We walked into the store holding a lap top computer and asked for tech support. We were directed to a counter where a man was nearby putting helium into balloons with a woman clerk. He asked if we needed something. We told him we needed help with a lap top that would not start up. He said we would have to wait a few minutes. He continued to fill balloons. We stood there patiently for several minutes ( around ten) while he ignored us. Finally I asked another clerk if there was a manager and he pointed to the man filling the balloons. We walked out. I felt he was very rude and that filling balloons was more important than customer service. My advice is that Staples train their managers to understand that customer service is most important. I won't be visiting that store anymore and we took the computer elsewhere for service. read more

This is my local inefficient Staples unfortunately and my spot for Amazon returns, but they seem to have made it intentionally worse and worse to make returns there, first they separated it off from the shipping services and then , starting today, they realized it was a drag on the register line to have too many people. Their solution ? Now shunt you off into a little side area where you have to wait for all of the regular purchase customers to be cleared before you will be serviced . I was going buy something from them, but after being treated like a second class citizen for coming for the wrong reason, I sure don't feel a need to help them out. It's extra ironic that their Amazon returns process has a review kiosk to rate the service that they basically have stopped allowing people to use by unplugging it. These people clearly just don't care and are going out of their way to treat Amazon returns customers like toxic waste. I get it that Amazon returns are burdensome and they probably don't bring in a lot of money, but that's not my problem as a customer, that's between them and Amazon. Stop punishing the customer for your corporate deals .. you certainly aren't going to make me a Staples customer by treating people this way. read more

I want to commend Carey Slaeker who helped me with a UPS item in Staples today The UPS at this store does not offer packaging of goods to be shipped. I had a large framed photograph in bubble and brown wrap that needed further boxing Instead of just selling me a larger box to package on my own, he cut out two cardboard pieces (from a box I purchased) and taped them together to secure my art He went WELL out of his way for me. " it doesn't matter if it's your own camera, if I feel that it's taken by a professional, I can"t print it out" . This was the reply I got when I went in there to get a couple of photographs printed out. I was refused service because one of the staff (ms. Ch*****) "felt" that the photograph is taken by a professional. And apparently there's no such thing as a fair use policy. Fact: The picture was taken by family on my canon 5d Fact: there's no trademark attached to it. Despite of this, and despite of another staff member stating that the photo can be printed, Ms Ch***** maintained that she wouldn't give the print. And all the while she was quite rude while doing so. Now I know staples operates on the whims and wishes of individuals and not on a set guidelines! read more

When it comes to the Waltham store, I'm a bit bias. Okay I'm a lot bias. It was my home store, where I started with Staples, Inc. And so I know or knew most of the staff here. However, it seems that at this point, 4 years later, most of the staff I knew are gone and have been turned over. While watching the turnover the last several years, which is in part due to management and being in the retail industry along with h.s. and college students having graduated and moving on; I still love this store and return for all my office supply needs, despite some personal variances with select individuals. However, I digress. The new staff and what remaining of the old timers here are very customer oriented as this has never been an issue here. And I'm proud of that. It is always clean. Someone is always willing to help you. Returns are never an issue. Getting something from another store is never a hassle. I wouldn't return if I didn't like this place so much. And if you know me, I'm a hard person to please when it comes to customer service as that is my number one pet peeve and the golden ticket to my patronage. read more

I came to upgrade my wife's Verizon phone. 20 minutes into my adventure I ask if I'll be done in another 1/2. Please note I am the only customer at phones. The answer it will take at least another hour. The staff member helping said there has been three system changes since he last did this and has a big 3 ring binder. If I hadn't told my wife that I would do this I would have left right there never to return. I returned about an hour later. Started all over again. In the end I left. I never knew that staples sold all sorts of electronics like computers, tablets, and Apple accessories. But now I know, and I'm impressed. This particular store is really well kept and organized. It is bright and clean, and pleasant to navigate. I'd be surprised if they don't have what you're looking for. And just a tip: sign up for their rewards card and you will get 5% cash back on all of your purchases, and you can track your account online. read more

The print department is great. The store manager, however, deserves a public rebuke. He was clearly never taught to treat an irate, frustrated customer with care. Instead of apologizing for a series of bungles including a wonky checkout, when I became impatient, the manager of the Waltham store escalated tensions by telling me -- not once -- but 3 times -- that he would never act like me. "I'm a shopper too. I would never act like you," he proudly said three separate times. I'm in customer service. Have been for 15 years. I always begin with an apology, followed by keeping my opinions to myself. read more

I went to Staples last night for a new printer. My old one was guzzling ink like a hummer goes through gas and I was really sick of it. So rather than go out and buy more ink (because i had run out - again), I did a little online shopping around and saw some great deals at this Staples, which is conveniently located all of 7 minutes away from my house. The employee who helped me out was great. He helped me find the perfect printer for my budding small business. He answered all of my questions knowledgeably and truthfully, which made the decision pretty simple. The price I got was great. The printer was on sale and it was a really good deal. It's only been 1 day, but thus far I'm happy with my purchase. So maybe you're wondering, "why only 2 stars, Michelle? You sound happy with your experience." Wellll...let's just say I don't appreciate high pressure sales. Let's go even further and say that high pressure sales that border on being rude and disrespectful really really piss me off. I made my decision, I'm at the checkout with the salesman who helped me from jump, and the manager comes over and graces me with a lovely display of douchebaggery. Not only is he clearly all over the salesman's back, looking over his shoulder and second-guessing everything the poor guy did (and like I said, I think he did a great job), he then basically just comes at me trying to sell me more and more and more. I went for it on the XL ink cartridge. I'm going to have to buy one eventually anyways, so why not just throw it in while I'm there. However, when it came to the service plan he just wasn't listening. As many times as I said "no, I'm not interested," he got more and more aggressive. "Well why don't you want it? Don't you know it's a good deal? Why would you take that risk? Blah blah blah." I started getting really irritated and downright angry. My final response was "yea, I like risks and I'm not interested. leave it at that." After a mini staring match, he finally moved on, probably to harass another employee or customer. I was so aggravated with his attitude and his treating both me and his employee like morons, that I'm still considering contacting Staples' main office and complaining. Let me also add that I used to be in commission sales and even I wouldn't go after someone the way he did to me - and that's with my paycheck being completely dependent on selling. At least the experience ended on a positive note - the employee carried my new printer out to the car for me and gave me some last minute tips on setting it up. I don't think I'll ever go back here for a bigger item. Paper, pens, envelopes? Fine. Anything that paints a "sell me more, I have money" target on my head though? No way in hell. read more

This is a review of their shipping & customer service. I ordered a filing cabinet from the Waltham store to be delivered and the in store help when I ordered this was wonderful. The problem came with the shipping. I was supposed to receive online notification when it was shipped, but I never got an email. I happened to check my order online and found that they had already tried to deliver to me once the day before. Right away I called and asked when they were next delivering. I was told they called the warehouse and it was on the way. After waiting all day I called back again. They told me that it was definitely coming and not to worry it was only 4 and that they would be there at 5. 5 came and went but they never arrived. Friday came and I had to leave for vacation at 3. I waited for them, but by 1 I became worried that I'd miss them again, so I called again. I was told it was on the truck and that they would contact the driver to let them know that if it was after 3 not to deliver until Wednesday when I would be back. I told them I could wait all day again on that day. Customer Service apologizes and says that they will email me a $25 coupon for my trouble of waiting for them. Even after double checking and confirming my email, no coupon arrives. Well, I get home on Tuesday night and see online that they tried to deliver on Monday and Tuesday, when I wasn't home. Wednesday morning I call again. This time customer service calls the warehouse and informs me that they will be delivering today. So, I wait again. I stay home all day. At a certain point I start to watch the road. No trucks from Staples. At 5 I call again, and this is the part that really got me. They tell me that they looked into my order and that it is my fault it wasn't delivered because I wasn't home. That was the last straw for me. There was no way I was spending another day waiting for them and being lied to by them. I was home all day, no one came and then they had the nerve to lie about it, no apology nothing & I'm told it's my fault. I was done. I asked for my money to be refunded. I will never shop from there again. They don't care about their customers or treat them with any respect. They said they would refund my credit card and then hung up on me. I'll be watching my statement to see if that will actually happen. I've been a loyal customer or Staples for years and I never will be again. In store is different, but the shipping and customer service is really lacking. If you look at my other reviews you'll see that I don't really give anyone a bad review, but being lied to and mistreated was more than I could accept. I think what bothers me the most about this whole experience was not even having the customer service person say that they were sorry for my trouble or acknowledging what had happened. I also needed assistance and after walking around the store SEVERAL times with no luck on finding a single sales person I left! Very bad customer service and general bad layout. Came in with a big order this morning and Chelsea (the supervisor) was upfront and told me that my order may take a while. Because of time constraints, I had to go back a few times to adjust my order but each time she was courteous, professional, and friendly. This review is for the printing services. We printed our wedding invitations at Staples, and the team could not have been more helpful in getting us the product we wanted. We had a bit of an issue when they ran out of the paper we were using, but one of the members of the printing team (Chelsea) went to another store to get the paper so that we could send our invites out on time. I've been into this staples 3 times in the past month to use their printing/scanning services. Every time I've been there, the services have been unhelpful. Twice my printing didn't work and the associate blamed in on the WiFi and didn't offer any other assistance. I left and got better service at the FedEx Center in the next shopping center. Today I went to scan and three of the printers were being fussy. Also, it costs less to print a page than it does to scan a page, and scanning isn't even using paper! Early this week, had occasion to buy a Fax Machine from this store. They found me a deal which could be a bargain. Manager Josh was very helpful. I forgot my cell phone on the check out counter (I am 76 years old, so it is easy to do). But Josh kept it in custody and delivered me personally when I went back to the store. I was trying to ups a couple of packages and was waiting 20 minutes-there was only one person in the designated area and he was working with a customer who wasn't even buying anything. I found this guy Lee who is running around the store doing nothing. I asked him if he could help me and he said, "Go back and wait in line". He is a very little man and compensates with a huge nasty streak. The store manager is also a waste of time as she is clearly not interested. I suggest you do your due diligence as you can often find better buys on AMAZON and Ebay. In some cases like checks you can get them at 1/2 price. read more

They didn't try to sell me the most popular brand/best seller, but instead really took the time to listen to my specific needs and budget and recommended a printer that would fit those needs. Went to Staples print department to get some information on a very large project which I am printing. I asked the man there some questions about pricing he told me you can find it on the web. When I told him, Yes, I could but I came here to get additional information. He was useless. Please hire someone who wants to work. Also, please realize that no one wants to pay thousands of dollars for a print job without a sample. I asked for a sample booklet ( a coil, plastic cover and backing to show my client how it would be bound. He refused. Told me I could wait for it-go to the web. What a lazy #$#$. Well a local printer was happy to take the business, he not only gave me a sample but he gave me a discount for volume. He answered all my questions and I got a great result. I had purchased a beautiful map to mount on my wall and I brought it to Staples to get it laminated. I watched as the attendant guided map through through the machine and him notice that it had torn on the border. He didn't make any obvious movements to signal that it was torn but I saw that he had seen it but didn't want to call attention to it. At this point since it was only the border, I had decided to just point it out and ask for a small discount off the laminating fee. After finishing, he trimmed the extra film around the map and rolled it up, placed a rubber band around it and proceeded to ring me up. I unrolled it and looked at the work and mentioned the rip on the border but on further observation noticed that it wasn't laminated on one third of one of the corners! It was completely not laminated, now if he watched it through the machine and then trimmed the dam thing, how could he not see this? But then again this is why he rushed to roll it up thinking I wouldn't look at it. I mentioned the rip and it not being completely laminated and he said "no charge", but he was definitely ringing me up prior to me unrolling it. I left the store unsatisfied but returned 5 minutes later to talk to the manager and she tells me that Staples is not responsible for how your item gets damaged in the process and he should have told me that prior to doing the job. When I explain to her that nobody explained to me that my items could be damaged. If nobody is held accountable for my map being damaged while in their machine, why would I use their service. That seems like a crappy service to offer. Staples gets paid whether they screw up or not. She said that at least he offered the service free. My issue is that he was willing to be dishonest had I not brought it to his attention. Go to Staples for the products... not the services offered because the can't held responsible if the damage your items. read more

When you call, first you have to listen to an ad that is probably totally irrelevant to you and anyway, you called to talk to them, not to be talked at by a recording. Then the menu is long and slow. I want to give thanks to Arun, one of the Staples employees, for helping me today. I had called looking for a toner cartridge for my Brother printer. Someone in the house had used the one toner cartridge that I had in inventory without telling me so when the toner cartridge suddenly registered empty today, I didn't have one to replace it. With a lot of work to get done tonight, I decided that I had to pick one up right away, called Staples in Waltham, and was guaranteed that they had a number of the specific cartridges that I needed in stock. When I got to the store, I couldn't find them in the toner section, so I asked for help. Arun showed up to locate them for me, also didn't find any in the section where they should have been, and then he climbed up the movable ladder to see if any were hidden up above. They were not. When I told him that I had driven to this Staples location specifically because I was told on the phone that they were in stock, he then checked the computerized inventory list and said yes, they were certainly listed as having a number of these cartridges (19 to be exact) but they clearly were not where they were supposed to be. He then started checking all possible locations where a shipment of them might have been placed, finally finding a carton of them. This could have been a terrible review had Arun not taken the time to find these for me, but, save for a slight systemic issue (that the cartridges were in the store but had not been placed in the right location within the store), I am pleased and would come back here again. read more
