We scheduled an appointment to view one vehicle on their lot. We show up, we sit around for about 10 minutes in this room that smelled like essential oils threw up. It was so nauseating to the point where we were just finding reasons to stand outside from the headache. An individual walks out with a battery starter and brings back the car we had asked to see. The vehicle had little things wrong with it. The little things like a corroded rear view mirror and rusted out rims. But this confused me, as they were simple things that could've been an easy fix.. why wouldn't they have at least done that? The dashboard began to have a Master Warning light randomly after set on for about a minute. The guy then told us that it was because the doors were open and the engine was on.. didn't seem legit. When I tried to ask more general questions like if there was any work done on the vehicle since being in their care, he shrugged me off saying he didn't speak English well. He also didn't seem like he wanted to go for a test drive. Once going back in to speak to the main man, the first thing he did was slap a note with the total amount of the vehicle and the cost of the fees. Not even a hello, not a how are you, not even confirming the car. Once we told him that we actually wanted to look at the other vehicles and named off the two we also wanted to see, he shrugged his shoulders and told us "making my staff go look for it, just too much" and told us to go look for it ourselves and let him know which ones. Even though, we could name which models and what cars we wanted to see. After a second or two of walking around, we turned around and got into our car and left. After arriving home, we looked over the reviews and realized we made a good choice today by not doing business with these people. read more

I am extremely disappointed with this dealership honestly, I'm even disappointed that I have to give one star. After paying $7000 for the car and agreeing to pay the remaining $1000by March 31, I have been dealing with ongoing issues since day one. The check engine light was on the very first day I got the vehicle. When I brought it back on the second day, instead of properly addressing the problem, I was told not to come back with another issue. Mind you this was only the second day after purchase. A vehicle should not have a check engine light or mechanical problems immediately after being sold, especially when it was described as in good condition. They claimed the issue was fixed, but the same problem came back shortly after. What's even more concerning is that when I later tried to address and made Google reviews , I was threatened over the phone and told they still 'own the car.' Beware of This Dealership - A Scam Operation! Last Tuesday, we visited this dealership, thinking it was a customer-friendly place. We were the first customers of the day, and the owner, George, let us in. He asked what kind of car we were looking for, and I told him our budget was between $4,000 and $5,000. Despite this, he kept asking questions, and I reiterated that we were only interested in cars within that price range, hoping for a good deal. I had already checked their website and saw a 2008 Chevy Malibu listed for $4,500. Instead of helping us find a car, George seemed reluctant. So, I specifically mentioned the 2008 Chevy Malibu. He went to get the car but returned with a new price tag, now altered to $4,900. I pointed out that the website had listed it for $4,500. He frowned and claimed that his son kept changing prices without notifying him but assured me that he would honor the original $4,500 price. That was the first red flag. I asked him to pull the Carfax report, and he became aggressive, questioning why I was so insistent. He started yelling that all his cars were in good condition and had no warning lights on the dashboard. I remained calm and told him, "Sir, I'm sorry, but I need to know what I'm buying." When I requested a road test, he had his mechanic replace the old battery. I asked when the oil was last changed, and he vaguely responded, "The oil is okay, but go change it yourself right away." We went on a road test, and while the car wasn't in great shape, it was somewhat expected for $4,500. Compared to my 2021 VW Atlas, it felt like a wheelbarrow, but I couldn't complain given the price. We finalized the deal, but as I was about to start the engine and leave, every warning light on the dashboard suddenly lit up, and the car began vibrating. I immediately called George over to see for himself. He looked confused, drove the car to another garage, and had a different mechanic check it. They assured me it was just the new battery and that it would be fine. George promised that if the issue persisted, I could bring the car back. Just two days later, the car stalled while I was stopped at a red light. It restarted after five minutes, so I didn't report it, hoping it was just a minor glitch. However, while driving to work, the issue worsened--not only did the warning lights come on, but the wheels locked while I was on the highway. I was terrified for my life. Luckily, I managed to steer the car to the side and pull over. I immediately called the dealership, and George's son answered. I asked to speak to George since he was aware of the car's condition, but his son insisted I deal with him instead. I explained everything, and he rudely told me that the car wasn't under warranty, so I couldn't return it. I reminded him that his father had acknowledged the issue, which is why I wanted to speak with him. After some back-and-forth, he finally told me to bring the car in. The next day, I towed the car at my own expense--$125. When I arrived, I found George, who initially pretended not to remember me. After I explained everything, he finally said, "Fine, let's take it to my mechanic again." He asked us to wait in the office while the mechanic worked on the car. While waiting, we were having a conversation amongst ourselves when another man, presumably another son of George, walked in and rudely ordered us to stop talking. He commanded everyone to "shut up" because our car was being fixed. I was shocked and asked, "Excuse me? We weren't even talking to you. How do you have the audacity to tell us to shut up?" He then started cursing and demanded that we leave the office. At that point, I lost it. Who did he think he was? We weren't trespassers--we were customers whose car was outside being fixed by his father. We stood our ground and made it clear that he couldn't just order people around like that. He eventually backed down. Meanwhile, some potential customers walked into the dealership while no staff members were inside. They asked if we worked there, and we told them the staff were outside. They sensed something was off and asked if we were there to buy a car. I was honest and told them we had just purchased a car from this dealership, and it had serious mechanical issues. Since no one was available to assist them, they walked back outside. Just a few minutes later, the rude son stormed in, yanked the door open, and furiously ordered us to leave, accusing us of "chasing away his customers." I told him, "Sir, we didn't chase anyone away." He became aggressive, started yelling, and even threatened to force us out while throwing around F-bombs. I calmly told him, "How can we leave when your father is outside working on the car and told us to wait for him?" The two brothers then began threatening to physically remove us. Their father, George, joined in, slammed the car keys on the table, and told us to leave as well. We stood our ground. They then threatened to call the police on us. read more

STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP AS YOU CAN Would give a 0 if I could. I had to initially fight the guy (Ivan) in order to get more pictures of a vehicle. After he finally sent them, I asked about the maintenance history. He said he has zero history for any vehicle which I can understand as a buy as is dealership. However, after a 4.5-hour drive to go look at it, the vehicle was in awful condition. There was rust completely rotting throughout the entire car. He said it had been undercoated. Wrong. It looked like the entire bottom end had been spray painted, which was insane as there were literally holes through the wheel wells and into the door jams. None of the buttons worked, which he tried to say was no issue and they just had to be cleaned (no?). When I asked about 2 very common issues with the vehicle, he said that I was wrong and thinking of the wrong car brand and they are not an issue with the vehicle and got mad at me when I was correcting him. I said it looked way worse in person and if I was even considering buying it would have to be way less than his ask. He then wouldn't allow me to take it on a test drive before talking numbers (what??) He pulls up a fake Carfax and says they are selling for a lot. They weren't as I checked the KBB price an hour before. I said I need to drive the vehicle in order to assess how bad it is. It drove like a tractor, and he only allowed me to take it around the block going no faster than 30 mph. This dealership is a complete joke. I rarely use yelp unless I am traveling for restaurants, let alone leave a review. I will forever now look at reviews as this is one of the many horror stories with this dealership. Horrible experience with the owner. Wanted to trade in our car for another car but the owner was rude and kept telling us to not to touch the car when we wanted to make sure everything in the car was working fine. The owner also made small rude remark about us, I did not feel comfortable buying from an owner who treat their clients horrible. We drove a whole hour to see this car but to just get this rude experience was not worth buying a car from him. Please avoid this business. Updates** We received a text messages from the owner accusing us of treating the car badly when we wanted to test the button on the car or make sure things were working fine. After wishing a goodnight and to end this conversation, he continues to make rude comment. I honestly don't know how they continue to make a business when they treat their clients this horrible. This is the second experience purchasing a vehicle from Star Auto Sales LLC (Rochester, MN). The first transaction was extremely shady. They demanded $11,000-cash only. They would not accept a cashier's check. My bank advised against the transaction. I went forward with the purchase because it was a good deal. Although the transaction was shady, the vehicle is still running three years later. Hence why I chose to ignore the horrible reviews/shady transaction and give them another chance. I now understand why so many people feel ripped off. They sold us a car knowing it had extreme mechanical issues. I drove the car less than 10 miles and the check engine light started flashing. My mechanic immediately looked at it and concluded it needed a new engine. I reached out to Star Auto Sales LLC and they stated they would replace the engine. They offered to pay $1,500 of the $4,500 engine replacement. They indicated it would be replaced with a used engine that had 135,000 miles on it. My mechanic stated whoever did the previous work to hide the problem should never touch the car again. I was not going to give them another $3,000 for a car that should not have been sold in the first place. I was not offered a used car warranty. I would have gladly paid for one to have a piece of mind. I brought back the car to Star Auto Sales LLC after receiving the title. I had hoped that I would be able to exchange the car for another vehicle or they would buy it back. The manager (Evaan) at Star Auto Sales scanned the check engine code and told me that he can not sell junk at his lot. He would only be able to use the vehicle for parts. He offered me $500 for the car that I just bought less than a month ago for over $5,000 (which had been driven less than 15 miles). He also offered to take $300 off the purchase of another vehicle. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM STAR AUTO SALES!!!! Believe the reviews. They are giving used car lots a bad name. We are out over $5,000 and still need to find a car for our teenage daughter. Mind you $3,500 of this came from our 15 year olds own money. Star Auto should be ashamed and have their dealers license taken away. If I could leave a negative Star review I would. read more

This place is basically a scam. They lie about the condition of the vehicles they're selling. Just check them out here and on the Better Business Bureau, Facebook, and Google. They're also not afraid of bullying you so much they'll make your kids cry. My Mom, sister, and niece drove 2 hours for a vehicle that was in "very good condition" with "no issues" and a "brand new battery," but when they went to test drive it he needed to jump it. He tried convincing them that it was nothing to worry about. Obviously a deal breaker right there, in my opinion. After test driving it they noticed a sign that said if you test drive a vehicle you must buy it that day. Another huge red flag. He then took my sister and niece into his office and pressured my sister into buying the vehicle. When she said she wanted to get a second opinion and think about it for a few hours first he screamed at her, saying she was just there to play games and waste his time. He made my 7 year old niece cry from his behavior. After they left they told me about it and I called him and confronted him about the way he treated them and he screamed "F*** YOU, F*** YOU, F***, YOU, F*** YOU" over and over again before hanging up. I called back and he went on a rant saying that they don't know anything about cars and they shouldn't be shopping for cars if they don't know anything, so it's their fault and it was just a waste of his time. The reality is they did know enough to realize the listing he put up was totally inaccurate. Then we looked at the reviews and found that this place is essentially a scam because of the way they lie about their listings. Since I live an hour and a half away, I called first. The first time I called, the guy who answered knew nothing about the one car I asked about and was very RUDE. The second time I called, I got a somewhat better answer to my question and that guy was RUDE but not as rude as the first guy. Well, I thought maybe they're just rude. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM STAR AUTO SALES LLC!! Cars are bought at auction, they are not put through any diagnostic testing to ensure they are in sellable condition. The customer service is horrible 90% of the time and that's being nice. Unless you pretty much guarantee them that you are going to buy the vehicle, they aren't going to show you it. The website lists inaccurate and down right false information about the vehicles. The vehicles are purchased at auction, how can they know so much about the vehicles? I purchased a vehicle for $10,000 from them in mid December. 2 1/2 months later and approximately 2000k miles driven, the vehicle is undriveable. The check engine light came on, a bad sensor light came on, the vehicle started shaking and it lost power. After having the vehicle checked out by a mechanic we were told the vehicle has been burning an insane amount of oil for a long time. Due to this issue there has been permanent damage caused to the engine. Cheapest fix to just get it running was $3,500, other option was to replace the entire engine which would cost $5,500. When we contacted Star Auto Sales in regards to this they said they were not going to help in any way and said they don't care if you pursue legal action against them. This dealership may have more used vehicles than any other dealership you will find in and around this area, which is why I went there, but TRUST me, if you want your moneys worth, do not enjoy being screwed over and want to avoid a huge headache, DO NOT BUY FROM STAR AUTO SALES LLC! BUYER BEWARE! Okay, met with Evaan and things seemed fine however he came off a wee bit strong in some areas. This may just be a cultural thing or something of the sort but "if you drive and like it we expect you to buy" seems a bit much. Either way we test drove the vehicle we were interested in and things seemed to go well. A couple of key points. -Check the tires on the cars. The one I purchased definitely had some issues. I am used to large dealerships that put new tires on the cars and are up to date on oil changes etc. The tires on this particular vehicle looked nice at a glance but upon further inspection at home they are almost all damages and worn out and have cracks. In the tread and minor cracks in the walls of the tires. I was about 40 min away from the dealership when a tire SHREDDED ITS SELF. I took the tire off, lowered the "spare" and come to find out the spare was the tire that had blew and the one under the car was the one that belonged in there in the first place but was out of air and is LEAKING air. This leads me to believe that they noticed the tire might have been flat and then replaced it with the spare hoping for a quick sale, which they got. I was lucky enough to get a kind farmer to air up the tire for me and return it. Before this kind man showed up to help I called Evaan and spoke with him and he said they offer no services of any kind as I was "too far away from Rochester". After having the tire returned I put it on and limped the vehicle home. What was supposed to be a 2 hr drive turned into a almost 5 hrs ordeal. -I didn't notice at the time of walking around the car, but the oil is in need of changing as per the sticker in the window. I understand it's a "as is" car and they are just a lot for used cars BUT an oil change is cheap and if someone's is spending THOUSANDS of dollars in cash and not jerking you around with a loan then it's the least you can do. -They don't provide a work up of what's done to the vehicle by their mechanics (who ever they use). While I was sufficiently happy with what I saw I would urge you to push for more information as nothing is really PROVIDED so you will not know unless you ask. -On my drive home I noticed the car would Rev high RPMs around 30mph and higher. Then would not shift into 4th/5th gear. Limping the car home it ran "fine". I got the car home, let it sit over night and came back the next morning to see what was up. The car was at that point throwing me a check engine light.. Had the codes pulled, there is one or two bad shift cylinoids in the transmission. Talking with the mechanic, this is definitely something they would have seen before and just cleared the codes for. Again, there was NO INDICATION OR DISCUSSION OF THIS AT ALL. It will cost me another grand or more to have it fixed. *UPDATE 4/3/24: In their listing it says "no damage", "no accidents".. well, you'd be surprised to find out that after all the stuff I've been dealing with I looked up the vehicle on car fax to find out it WAS in an accident with a "moderate" damage rating and that was NEVER disclosed to me at all. So check the cars Vin first... *UPDATE 4/3/24: I spoke with the owner of the dealership and asked for a copy of the report their mechanics would have provided them. He asked if I'd wait till the end of the day and he'd get me what I need. I did ask who they do their work through and he declined to answer unfortunately. Later in the evening Evaan never showed back up to the shop as he said he would. Told me to call back tomorrow so I'll do that. I called back at around 12:00 and he isn't in the shop and won't be there as he is "at auction" *UPDATE 4/4/24: Vehicles transmission has dumped all of its fluid on the ground. It's in the shop at the moment. Absolutely infuriating that I buy this car from them and they decline to help me at all. F... me right? "You didn't get the warranty so I don't have to help you". All in all I would just be very thorough with your inspection of the vehicle and ASK QUESTIONS. I would NOT go here again.. read more

Complete waste of time! I was just car shopping and found two in the lot that I was interested in. Couldn't find anyone until stepping into the tiny building. Upon entry saw one man in the back smoking in the back and so far down in his seat I thought he was gonna slip out and fall asleep. Another about the same way, but came rushing over when we entered. He then told us about the cars but didn't seem to know much about any of them. I wanted to test drive one and he made a copy of my license. Seems odd since he was in the car as well. About a block away all the dash light came on and the car broke down. The car then broke down 4 other times getting around 1 block. The man claimed that it was shocking and he didn't know why this is happening. I almost laughed when he offered to let me test something else. Such dishonesty and horrible customer service. He says NO! We started walking out and I read the sign again and I told him we ARE looking to buy a vehicle today so he let us test drive it. We got back to the dealership and my daughter tells him we are going to go look at other places. He got very mad at us. He wanted us to buy the car since we test drove it. He said to us, DONT DO THAT AGAIN, amongst other things, Meaning test drive another vehicles. Had he not been so RUDE, My daughter would of bought that vehicle! about horrible. took the car on the test drive and the salesman told us the car was perfect at driving and the Interior was good. when I got inside the car the left side near the back windshield was molding? and he said if you test drive it you had to buy it?? when we started driving instantly I noticed red flags about the car, especially about how bumpy it was. and as we were driving he kept on making sure I was going to buy it and pressuring me. then when we were getting back tot he place he pointed to the dealership to do the paperwork, when the place where we started to drive was a different place. then when I got back i said I did not want it, and then he started saying how rude we were for wasting his time and started yelling at us. u did not say anything and just left but for anyone else going here, please yell back and becuase he needs to learn. he also wanted 4,500 for this car that was MABEY worth 2,500. THIS PLACE GAVE ME A BAD GUT FEELING; so glad I decided to listen to it. Right off the bat the sells man, Evan (Evaan), was cold and barely spoke to us. The car was okay but there was quit a bit more damage and rust then stated in the advertisement. Very rude about my poor little trade in. We asked to test drive the Pontiac Vibe and yaaaaaay Evan came along! I was already so done with how he treated us; I had my mind almost made. My boyfriend didn't notice anything that stuck out while driving (sidenote: looking at all these reviews something was bound to be wrong with it in a week.) I was on the fence. They were pushing the sale, said there was no warranty, and wouldn't take any offers. So I ended it with a satisfying "I don't trust you, you were very unwelcoming, and I won't be buying from you." (which is not like me to be outspoken, but I kinda liked it LOL) we left and they called us as we were getting back on the highway and said they would take our offer.
