I felt compelled to write a review based on the recent poor review Rochester Toyota received. I believe that person's experience, but wanted to make sure the dealership was recognized for the excellent customer service we have received there over the past 14 months since purchasing an SUV from them. Every interaction we've had with an employee from Rochester Toyota has been wonderful. We walk away impressed each time. From purchasing the vehicle from Troy (great salesman!) to each time I've taken the car in for routine maintenance (having put ~40,000 miles on it in the past year - this has been quite often!), I have nothing but positive things to say. Their customer service is exceptional. My husband and I have repeatedly discussed how we received an extremely fair trade in for our car when purchasing the new vehicle. The process was transparent and easy. I did not feel cheated or scammed in any way, as some may with other dealerships. Troy has followed up with us multiple times to check on how things are going with our Toyota, which is appreciated and infrequent enough that it's not annoying. When I had some minor damage to my car after an unfortunate run in with a rock (to my windshield), Toyota went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. They have truly transformed us into customers for life as long as we're in the Rochester area! read more

They keep calling you after you leave saying we were just seeing if you still want to buy.

If I could give zero stars I could. 1hour & 45 mins to get a key fob, just seems ridiculous but maybe that's just me? But let's back up because maybe this all sounds like I am overreacting to someone just seeing the first headlines. I made an appointment over 2 weeks out to get a new key & fob. I was told they had the key in stock. The day of I called to make a modification to my appointment as I didn't have extra time to have them look at the recalled part. To have the guy tell me they didn't actually have a key or fob for my appointment. 5 mins later I get a call saying, they do have my key and they can still get me in. Being told 20-30 mins should be how long it'll take. Upon arrival, they couldn't tell me how much the key or fob was going to cost. They told me it would be 45-60 minutes for a key/fob. At almost an hour of waiting I was then told it would be another 20-30mins since they were having trouble with my key, ended up being 45 mins. I will never be going to this dealership for anything ever again. They were beyond disorganized. I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

My husband and I did some research on a Corolla we wanted to test drive and buy so we made the hike from the cities down to Rochester. Upon arrival, the staff greeted us in a non-confrontational, no pressure sort of way. It was so nice to not feel like we had to leave with something in order to have great service. We came with our kids and they were even accommodating to them as well. Offering them snacks (which they kept stocked), offering an iPad, and a football. The facility is quite large inside, so they were able to run around but still be safe. The staff were soooo nice! If I ever need a car again, or anytime I can give a recommendation, I will for sure send them here. Great experience with great staff. read more

Not sure if I will go back to this dealership. When we went here we were new to the Rochester area, which it seems the local car dealerships are very used to dealing with 'fresh meat.' You'll hear from every single one that they don't negotiate. We had a Prius for years, loved it, and were looking to purchase a new Prius prime model. We went on a busy Saturday afternoon and the only salesperson available was a newbie. He proceeded to try and break the ice by telling us how new he was and every time we asked questions about the new prime models he was honest and say he didn't know, which I appreciate, but then again I came to the dealership to find answers to my questions. As per usual they try to get you inside and coax you into buying a car on the spot that day! We were very clear with him that we were just looking and not interested in buying. I guess I made the mistake in asking if they had a spa blue color available on the lot. Next thing we knew the guy left and came back 10 minutes later with the manager. The manager proceeded to have a starring competition with us and try to strong arm us into buying a Prius prime. It was the most awkward moment ever spent at a car dealership! Just plain strange how he thought business could be conducted like that! My husband and I were so taken aback we ended up going to other dealerships and buying vehicles from them. I have recently talked with others who have gone here to try and buy a vehicle... they all say the same thing, not a very good atmosphere to buy your next vehicle. And they absolutely do not negotiate and they start with a higher price to begin with. Save your time and money and go to Zumbrota or the cities where you'll get a better deal anyways! read more

We were returning customers but we're treated so poorly we took our money elsewhere. Don't trust them! Ben in particular told my husband if we didn't sell my car to the dealership they may not sell us a new car. He then promised our car would be delivered in six weeks. We drove down signed over the title and processed my car. Than the story changed 4-6 months out for a car despite us putting down a deposit in early December on an order. The whole process was awful we took a loss in pulling out of our deal but I'm okay with that. Never will I give this dealership my repeat business. Nor will I send family or friends here. Plus no one here is on the same page. We could've done business locally but wanted to give them our business as our first experience was so great. Absolute worst experience of my life. Drove 6.5 hours to test drive a car that I really wanted. We were running a little late. We were told that as long as we were in transit they would hold the car no problem. Can't control traffic, bathroom breaks, grabbing food sorry not sorry. Got there about 4:30 pm they closed at 6:00 pm. Called and texted them multiple times to update them on the time we would be there. Got there and our sales rep was slumped against a column and we asked for him by name and got side eyed. He stood there for a minute and said get over here I have had my ass chewed all day for holding this car 3 other people wanted to buy it and you are late and we are about to close. Shuffled us over to his desk and wanted us to fill out paperwork immediately. My husband asked to see the car. He was insistent that we do paperwork. So we insisted that we see the car. He kept saying it was right out front this was not the car we asked to see then he started yelling over on the corner. He busted the doors open and was being physically in our face, slamming things and yelling. At this point I was crying and a finance guy asked what was going on. I told him that I could not deal with him. He said he would take care of us from here on out. He came over and wanted us to do paperwork. My husband told him can we drive the car this is why we came here and he said you haven't driven the car yet? Then he sent us on a test drive with the same aggressive sales man. Things were slightly better but not comfortable. I was going to purchase this car hands down but they will not transfer it even for a fee. Also tried calling them early in the morning on Monday and it took all day for them to return a phone call. I have never been treated like this at any dealership I have gone to. I will never go back there and did not purchase the car. This sales person needs to learn to have some decency when dealing with customers. Managers need to learn to return phone calls in a timely manner. They also need to do more than say sorry when you have been treated so horribly. At this point if I owned this business I would reach out to the customer and do anything I could to fix the problem and the relationship. read more

En route from MPLS to Chicagoland, on a sunny Wednesday, we noticed our Check Engine light had come on AND Cruise Control wasn't working! Around 3:30 pm, from the road, We called ahead to see if they could "squeeze us in" & look into it? Miraculously, The Service guys could look at the Code for us ! .... and DID, within 15 mins of pulling in! Result: It was a minor thing and cleared itself without further work, so our Cruise Control function was "back" ! Fantastic , since we still had 6 hrs left on I-90 & I-294 ! If you are searching for a vehicle, I suggest not going to this facility. They post vehicles on their website that are not available and weee never available. I sent a few inquiries via the internet to see a few models and received responses from Michael that were extremely rude and offputting. There was zero sense of customer service and he did not care about my business. Times sure have changed from days gone by when the sales people wanted your business and treated the client with a warm welcoming hand. I wanted to buy a Toyota, but could not get past the attitude that was extended or should I say not extended at Rochester Toyota. I did search for Toyotas at other local venues, however, I did not feel they knew this line of vehicles as well as companies that specialize in Toyota. I finally ended up going with a specialized dealership similar to Toyota, but with a different brand. Had my vehicle not been totaled, I would have traveled to the cities where dealerships are in abundance, I would have undoubtably purchased a Toyota. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I may trade in what bought at a Toyota location near the Twin Cities in the near future. read more

Do not take your car here. Do not buy a car here. Beware. Updating my review based on one aspect of their service and one aspect of their web site. A stack of recalls came to the house over the course of a year. We finally scheduled a service at Rochester Toyota to have that addressed. Unfortunately did it via their web site. Which set off numerous communications breakdowns and a blizzard of SPAM email from the dealership. After having to follow up twice to confirm we had an appt, she arrived on site before the appointment only to learn that they didn't have her on the schedule. Could not find it anywhere. Sit down we'll look into this. 30 mins later, oh, yes, you're right, you are scheduled for 15 minutes ago. Expected time to complete all tasks -- 3-4 hours including fixing the recalls. Can I have a loaner car to do some shopping? Oh, I'm sorry, we no longer offer free loaner cars for service work. We rent them for $45-70 a day. Mind you the car primarily is inside this place to get some stuff they didn't do build/right fixed--RECALLS. Yes, we should pay for a loaner car to drive 10 minutes to the mall. Take the dealer shuttle? Great idea. Only on this day wait for the shuttle was TWO HOURS. Also, do not send them an email via their web site for any reason. you will soon regret it as the email start coming and don't stop. Every day more and more with a confusing unsubscribe process (as designed no doubt). RUN!!! read more

I was looking for a used BMW Z4. I was lucky enough to find one at Rochester Toyota with very low miles. I was a little skeptical of flying over 500 miles to purchase a car I hadn't even seen. However, Ben Groth was there to help me every step of the way! Taking pictures of the tires to see when they were made, offering to pick me up at the airport long after the dealership had closed (my flight was cancelled), helping me get a hotel room, taking me on a fun test drive, helping me understand my new vehicle features, and even helping when we found a small crack in the headlight... We are no longer taking our car here we will drive to the cities instead. We got a lot of work done and have always brought it to the dealership for routine maintenance. Not even 2 years ago our Head gasket needed replacing it was the original and the car was 9 years old with almost 200,000. Have the work done and paid dealership prices, we leave and everything was fine until the next day we take the car out and it stalls out multiple times they didn't tighten the valve cover. Fine we all make mistakes not a big deal, no harm no foul. Then about a year to year and a half later the car just starts shaking once it gets over a certain speed, we bring it in they hook it up and can't figure it out, we did some research and asked them to check the sparkplug which they said they did so we leave take the car out to run errands the next day and guess what car starts shaking again so bad that we ​lose part of ​our heat shield. We call and they get us in even though it's a Saturday. You know what they found to be causing the problem? The sparkplug. So we have to pay for that service when if they listened to us in the first place it wouldn't have happened. Now I bring my car in for a routine oil change and they finish and come out saying my head gasket is leaking and it's conveniently past warranty. How does one head gasket last almost a decade and 200,000 miles and the one they installed doesn't even make it 2 years? Either a quality control issue with Toyota or incompetence on behalf of the garage and judging by the history we've had I'm guessing the latter. As much as I like my Toyota I'm 100% not buying another specifically because of the continued incompetence of this garage and willingness to stall and not take responsibility for their continued mistakes. read more

From following up on an inquiry online to showing us everything about our car before we drove off the lot. He's not pushy and truly cares about finding the right vehicle for the customer. For all my Rochester friends, if you need anything done with your car-- I cannot recommend Rochester Toyota enough. I got into an accident in late July and was given the runaround by my insurance company. Scott and Jon stayed in continued contact with me throughout the time I was without my car, which was prolonged by my insurance company. When I was charged out of pocket for a rental car due to the length of time my car was being working on, they reimbursed me for the portion that should've been shared with my insurance company. I am from the Twin Cities and drove down to get the exact car I wanted. Unfortunately after driving home my new car I wanted, I found the seat positioning was hard on my body and had to bring back the vehicle. Everyone at the dealership were very understanding, accommodating and helpful. They have a 7-day return policy. No strings attached. I never heard of such a thing. Also, I went home with a different vehicle I bought, it was a Toyota certified vehicle, which I did not find the same at other dealerships. Come to find out they certify a lot more vehicles than other Toyota dealerships. They have a lot of cars, a lot of helpful employees, and I can't recommend them enough. read more

After being surprised with a charge of $80 for my oil change, I thought to myself "Well, at least I got the 5 point inspection and maybe a free car wash". Clipboard guy said everything was good, sheet said all good. All lights checked as working. No car wash, no big deal. Get out to the parking lot to find I have a taillight bulb burnt out. Nice. Be nice if they did what they said they did. Guess they didn't want the extra business. I went somewhere else to get that done. Won't be back here. With an appointment, oil change took about 15 minutes (though they warned me it'd be an hour), but they keep it sitting for an extra half hour to make it seem like it was no easy task (not hard to notice with all the windows in the waiting area). read more

Don't go here. After 14 years of using them for working on my Toyotas. I own only Toyotas. The service has gotten really bad in the last two years. I have had trouble after a oil change in which my key stopped working. This last time I could not get an oil change because one of my bolts on my skid plate was striped. With them the only ones working on the car they would not consider fixing it as their mistake. I.E. they don't stand behind their work. They used to be so good in the past. I could go on with miss-diagnosis and expensive repair that did not work. Also, buying a used car from their used car lot that had a bad frame. They would not stand behind it because it came from their brother dealership Mazda, which all three have the same dealership owner. read more

Terrible customer service. Scheduled my appointment with them a week in advance for a service check up and a recall remedy for my Toyota, I wasn't greeted when I arrived, rather I had to wait at the empty service desk for a good 5 minutes until someone noticed I was there, then they sounded annoyed with me that I was there. After checking me in, they told me that it was a 2 hour job (max) and that they would call me. After 4 hours of not receiving a call, I called them and then they said it was done. When I arrived to check in to pick up my car, the service desk looked like they would rather go home than to help me. They checked me in and then told me that I had to wait some more because the service advisor was "busy and could not see me" after waiting I was finally greeted with a rushed "get you out of here" welcome. Didn't even go over what they did to my car. He just wanted me to sign and be done with me. I had to force it out of him what they did to my car and go over everything. He seemed annoyed that I even would ask such a thing. He then hurried and threw down and pen and had me sign, took the sheet pointed me to the direction of my car (which was in the far back corner of the back lot next to a bunch of ice) and said goodbye. When I turned my car on I had the maintenance required light come on which wasn't the case when I brought my car in. I asked to speak to a manager and they said they wouldn't be in until Monday. After a long day, Heather went above and beyond and offered to take care of the service and deliver my car back to the hotel so I wouldn't have to wait.
