I had to add another review to this place especially because of the absurd negative Nancy one last month. ((Btw if you noticed, she only has 1 review which is a complaint, so, that's unfortunate that she felt obligated to spew and defame.)) I have multiple reviews and I have been to Star Nails many times in the past couple of years of living here. So please hear me out: This place is wonderful for basic services and I have never been disappointed. Of course you should pay attention to what the technician is doing to make sure it's according to your preference, as they are not mind-readers, but I have never had a negative experience or had anyone argue with me or give me less than stellar or standard service. In fact, I have been to another salon in town and was less impressed with their level of service compared to their prices. I feel that Star Nails is more thorough and willing to accommodate and I have had very pleasant conversations with their staff; this was both before and definitely after the change in management. Long story short, I have been very pleased with the service I've received here over the years and am happy to see it run well under new management. Their prices are (pretty) fair (inflation is not their fault) and they do a terrific job. They have great massage chairs, relaxing music, or TV if you want to watch. It's unfortunate that someone had a bad day and went online to badmouth this place but I make it my goal to set the record straight and not let small businesses suffer because of Karens. My polish have been chipping and bubbling up since I've had it done. Although they are under new management, I see old habits die hard. The guy rushed and by the next day, my polish was bubbling and peeling. I went back, one of the new owners corrected the issue. 5 days later, it doing the exact same thing. My wife and I went to Star Nails, as she's seeking a decent place in town. She had already tried two others, one being crappy and the other not giving a long-lasting service. I go along as a former nail-biter, now converted to mani-pedis. This place got us in right away and is now my wife's favorite shop. I was less than impressed with the job the woman did with the clearcoat she put on my nails--if it were a paint job on anything but my nails, I would have complained and had it re-done. However, the younger man who did my wife's nails was helpful in recommending colors and finishing treatments. As well, he was very detail-oriented and took his time to make her nails look awesome. She has received many compliments on the cool look of her nails. (Hint: ask about the "unicorn" finish.) Great place and the one to use when looking for nails. read more

This is my favorite place by far in Tupelo to get my nails done. I rarely have to wait more than 5-10 minutes to get started, whereas most places are 30 minutes and up. This shop is owned by a husband and wife, and they put a lot into this place and it shows! Facility is new & updated, clean. Everyone here is very friendly. I will keep returning. UGHHHH So, new management, so I thought I would give it another try from the previous managers!! BAD MISTAKE! I went in for a basic spa pedicure ($40) He did not ask to assist with the chair, he did not ask me if I would like my toenails cut short, when I realized he was done with the first part of the cleaning, I had to ask him to clean out from underneath my toenails (I HAVE NEVER HAD TO DO THAT) he wanted to argue with me about other places not cleaning out from under your toenails/fingernails unless YOU ask??? WHAT?? I have had pedicures all over the nation and I have NEVER had to ask for this process!! I have not chosen to get a pedicure in this town for many reasons; but I thought , "I'm gonna go and get myself a pedicure! I have not had one in a long time, I'm gonna do it!:)" I don't think I have ever regretted spending $41.20 on a pedicure, as much as I have this one, it was so awful!! The fact that he wanted to argue with me, the fact that it's new management, the fact that when I walked up to the entrance, there is brown mulch, with white Marboro cigarette butts all in front of the front door... this should've been my first clue to rethink my decision! Just an all-around bad place!No-one interjected, or had anything to say about the situation. Very sad, very disappointing, badly operated! Worst place in the town for eyebrows!!! Totally ripped my eyebrows off on one side !! The lady who does the waxing is not trained at all. Doesn't speak a word of English. I explained to her just to clean it up through somebody else and then she did this !!!!!! The owner is a rude, unapologetic woman . I went there and I ruined my face!! Do Not go there!! read more

Rushed thru my nails. Paint job looks like my 11 yr old did them and they broke off 1 day after getting done. And wasn't even long at ALL! eye brows was done good but younger git that did mine an daughters nails in my 18 years of getting nails done NEVER had them break off within days. Weeks or month maybe at that but not within a day or two. Was rushing and did a shit job. Rushed doing them. Paint job looked like a kid did them. Won't be back. Now eyebrow guy did great job but not nail tech! He's a younger guy maybe 30+ and it was aweful. Never had my nails break within days or break at all. went to support a friend I used to work with a wife's business but won't be back had nails last amonth or longer am not break and again not long length. And broke in two day my kids broke in a day and paint job was aweful. Had to keep telllong him to get paint off my cuticles and skin. read more

A customer was told she could not receive a pedicure because the chair had a weight limit. This customer had been to the salon several times in the past and gotten manicures and pedicures without any issues or unkind words. She immediately left the salon, never to return - rightfully. read more

After Tupelo, MS recovered from a terrible tornado, I decided to see what new businesses were on North Gloster. I saw Star Nails. I had a manicure and pedicure that I was very pleased with. So I would refer my friends family and church members. Fast forward to July of 2019 I went to get a mani/pedi one of the owners immediately went to the front of the shop to get me a chair without wheels because he said they break so easily. I said yeah I would not want to role out the door. After The technician finished my manicure the older lady which also was an owner look at me as if I was free Willie and said to the other owner a white mail to explain to me about the pedicure. He proceeds to tell me his chairs have a weight limit and he would not be able to do my pedicure. The shop was full and I was so embarrassed. They made me feel like I was this overly huge animal that went around breaking chairs. I told the man I had been there many times before , so I paid for my nails and left in tears. I went to another salon that completed my service. I have MS and take a variety of meds. In my 46 years of living I have never heard that weight limit stuff from any nail salon before. So if you are fat avoid Star Nails cause they are only going to embarrass your fat self. By all means please dint go there. Terrible customer service. read more
