******DON'T GO HERE ****** ******THIRD AND FINAL UPDATE****** After 48 days of waiting, i FINALLY have my dental appliance back and can say I am DONE with Star Sleep and Wellness! Throughout this whole frustrating experience there has never been any communication from here that wasn't initiated by me. No genuine concern or apologies from anyone regarding the failures of the staff from the start. Again I urge anyone to think twice before going here....unless you don't care that there is no thorough oral exam, just the sales pitch and then being in a group of strangers going through an "orientation". Everything about this business feels cold and impersonal. This has been a horrible experience and I will NEVER recommend this business to anyone. I am so glad to be done with Star Sleep and Wellness. ******SECOND UPDATE ****** One week later, February 9, and i have heard absolutely NOTHING from this place. I have no idea if my dental appliance was ever actually found and sent back to the lab for repairs. Of course there were empty promises to keep me advised on the status, I'm not surprised at all that Star Sleep & Wellness can't even manage this. Today I had an appointment with Dr. Suzanne Thai D.D. S. at DFW Sleep Solutions - such a DRASTIC difference in the 2 practices. Dr. Thai spent 1 hour talking with me about my concerns. Is there even a doctor at Star Sleep & Wellness? Who knows, I never saw one!!! Again, if you are serious about your health and sleep quality don't waste your time or your $1200.00 here at Star Sleep & Wellness!! I am so glad I have started the process over with a practice that cares about their patients and not just paying for the fancy top floor office at The Star. Go to DFW Sleep Solutions for truly caring and compassionate team who is ready to help you, not just take your money and abandon you! ****UPDATE TO MY REVIEW **** Tuesday, January 27, Grayson told me in email that he would be sending my oral appliance right away for expedited repair. On Friday, January 30, Grace informed me on the phone that no one knew where the device was yet. Today, February 2 I spoke with Grayson. The device still hasn't been sent to the lab. His excuse was the winter storm first - keep in mind that he told me on Tuesday what he was going to do and the ice storm didn't arrive until Friday night. The next excuse was that all personnel who could apparently do anything were gone to a seminar. This place is filled with excuses and horrible patient care. I advise you to run far and fast away from this business. ************************************ I am extremely disappointed in the level of care and follow-through I've received from Star Sleep and Wellness Frisco. My dental appliance broke four weeks ago, after I had only been using it for one month. I waited two days just to receive a call back, at which point I was told to send photos of the appliance. Based solely on those photos--without any in-person examination--Grace determined that the issue was broken hinges and ordered replacements. Once the hinges arrived, it was discovered that the actual problem was a compromised screw, meaning the entire appliance had to be sent back to the lab. This resulted in another two-week delay. After hearing nothing, I emailed Sam for an update. He told me he would follow up and get back to me. Another week passed with no communication. When I reached out again, I received a response from Grayson, the Wellness Director at the Frisco location, informing me that Sam no longer worked there and--more concerning--that no steps had been taken at all to move my case forward. I emailed Grayson two additional times with questions and requests for updates and received no response. Today, I called and spoke with Grace again--the same person who initially misdiagnosed the problem. She informed me that she does not even know where my appliance is, let alone when I might get it back. To make matters worse, just this week I was diagnosed with high blood pressure due to untreated sleep apnea and have now had to start medication. This delay in care has had real, measurable consequences for my health. At this point, I am requesting immediate accountability and resolution--specifically, clear communication on the current location and status of my appliance, a firm timeline for repair or replacement, and appropriate consideration for a refund or replacement at no additional cost due to the extended delays and lack of care coordination. Patients seeking treatment for sleep apnea should not be left without answers, support, or critical medical equipment. read more

Completed the myriad online forms to get a new dental fitting. Arrived to find a front office staff in mid New Years Eve banter like they were at a club. Finally was taken back to meet the physician only to be told no physician would be there today but if they would find someone to teleconference in to me. I thanked the assistant for her time, but indicated I didn't think their practice was for me. On the way out, I asked the staff to delete my information. Nearly 3 hours out of my day. read more

You're a paycheck. Not a patient. Poor communication. They send equipment when you're not home and don't inform you that you need to be home to sign for it. Then equipment is dead and threaten a $50 charge for returning equipment late, but you don't receive it in time. .They hound you almost immediately after your initial appointment for payment despite running your payment. The entire staff I interacted with were kind, friendly, knowledgeable and professional! They reviewed my sleep study results with me, assessed my needs and made recommendations. As a veteran with multiple federally confirmed toxic exposures and a history of severe insomnia and diagnosed sleep apnea, I was hopeful this clinic could become part of my long-term care team. While the sleep study itself was handled professionally and I appreciated the clarity around my PAP settings, I was disappointed that the clinic has a blanket policy against writing nexus letters, even with comprehensive federal documentation in place. For veterans seeking full-service and collaborative care--including support with VA documentation--this clinic may not be the best fit. That said, the staff were courteous and responsive, which I appreciated. read more

When I first visited store sleeping wellness I was very impressed. That was 2 months ago. Was refer to them by my previous sleep apnea doctor who retired. When I first went they were very kind and said they would take care of everything quickly. It's been 2 months now and I've yet to receive a new CPAP machine. It took a while to get my first appointment and I cannot get a call back at this point. They said they would get a supplier in touch with me immediately to get me a new machine. The company called me one time and left a message. I returned the call and it went straight to voicemail. I have never heard from their supplier since even though I have called numerous times. I'll also left many messages at Star sleep and wellness and no one has reached back out to me. The urgency is that my machine says that the motor has reached and exceeded it's lifespan. It also leaves a message saying that to contact my doctor immediately. I've tried and I've tried. My husband has tried and tried. And we can't get any help I live with fear now that my machine is just going to quit or catch on fire while I'm using it. My hands are tied I don't know what to do and I can't get in touch with anybody. I have Medicare so I have full insurance and I still can't get someone to call me back. I would like to speak with the doctor but that's been to no avail. So I suggest if you're worried about your sleep apnea they seem to be great on your first visit and then you're put aside. Maybe they need more help or they're understaffed. But when it comes to being able to breathe during the night, to me that's critical. read more

They provided me with a CPAP machine and explained the 90 days compliance requirement to meet insurance requirements in July 2024. I was told after 9 months of usage the insurance and my copays would fulfill the cost of the rental and I would now own the machine. Exactly 9 months after receiving and using the CPAP, I received a bill for the entire cost of the machine ($800) and the explanation that I had not maintained the 70% usage compliance for the past 2 months. However, those were the 7th - 9th month of using and I was only required to stay at that 70% rate for the first 3 months. I have called multiple times to talk with someone in their billing department for assistance and the only response I have received is an email stating they cannot help me with this and I need to deal with their supplier directly. The supplier is refusing to help and says I will be sent to collections for the entire cost unless I pay the $800 by 6/4/25. This despite the fact that my insurance, BCBS, has paid them the negotiated amount and I have made monthly payments for my portion so should now outright own the machine. Since Star Sleep and Wellness provided me with the machine and did not give me a choice of what medical supply vendor I could use, they should stand behind the equipment and rental agreement and assist me in resolving this. They refuse to do so. read more

Don't visit this establishment if you are on Medicare, they had a name change and because of that you will have to wait until they are Medicare approved....I would ask them up front about it BEFORE visiting. Throw away the CPAP! In case insurance doesn't TELL you... you CAN get an OSA (oral sleep appliance) in the stead of CPAP. I was fighting with the CPAP during the in house sleep test at 4BetterSleep - waking up, yanking it off, panicked and short of breath. Did they give me other options? No. Not that I clearly remember. So, I reluctantly bought the thing and never used it. (Insert eye roll here). Anywho. Went to Dr Kent Smith's swanky digs at the Star (or somewhere therein) at the request of the PCP and found out life can be different. Trakessa, the Wellness Associate, helped us with the testing. She was super professional, was upfront about billing, and worked great with our family. The NP told us about CBT-I, which was new information for us. Dr Smith was compassionate, didn't seem rushed, and was willing to discuss treatment options directly with our trusted family doctor on speaker during our first appointment. Ultimately, my hope is to bring some relief to our sleep struggles. My only regret is not knowing about this sooner. And my only complaint is getting his office confused with Dallas Sleep! I've already made two referrals and I haven't even been gone an hour! read more

Management are horrible people who conduct them selves as perfect people and blame their flaws on other staff. When I was talking to management about my situation I was being treated as if I wasn't human. They did not try to find a solution, just gave me a belittling attitude and acted as they didn't care about their clients. Management will be rude, unapologetic, and unprofessional. Do not come to this establishment as you will feel the dark cloud management keeps over their head. Go find a place with genuine care and genuinely care about their customers well-being. read more

Disorganized and unprofessional! I set an appointment for my husband up two weeks ago because he has severe insomnia coupled with hallucinations and sleep walking. I supplied them with all the information they requested to make an appointment including the insurance info. The office manager called the morning of the appointment to cancel because they were in need of a referral from my husband's PCP. They had two weeks to request this information, but failed to follow through. We did not know that was a requirement. The office manager did not take accountability for her lack of follow through for herself or the staff. She tried to spin it where she told me she was trying to "help us not pay anything out of pocket if we didn't have referral." That might be true, but why wait until the morning of the appointment to have this revelation??? read more

While I'm pleased with the device they fitted me with, there are some general concerns about the office itself based on my experience. Don't expect to see Dr. Smith except during the second visit for a short time period...although I've been told he is open to seeing patients again at your request. It just seems strange that he isn't present for initial fittings or even after 1 month consultation when you receive your device. The assistants run the show at the office. And for the most part, they are great about explaining what to expect and you don't feel like you are rushed through an appointment. I do feel like they do take a vested interest in taking down your concerns and trying to work with Dr. Smith to find the best possible solution for your needs. Kudos to the staff in that regard as this is most important. A recurring theme I see since becoming a patient; however, is the breakdown in communication within this office. Emails continually go unanswered and if they do respond, there's not enough information or they miss responding to some questions completely. It's really a waste of everyone's time trying to mange your case so you can make quick adjustments and move on. It's impossible to get someone knowledgeable on the phone that is familiar with situation. They have a new nurse assistant and she will try to push pain cream Diclofenac on you despite no complaints of pain. That seemed to be her ONLY agenda when speaking to me for our short 5 minute interaction. I never indicated that over-the-counter meds weren't doing the job when I needed it. We didn't even discuss how often I may even need pain meds(which is rare at best). When the pharmacy she selected (not mine) called me I asked them what she prescribed. Upon quick research, that medicine directly puts me at risk for possible serious medical complications given my health history. I refused the pharmacy's request to fill it and they still tried to send it through to my insurance company after I told them not to. This really is unacceptable to attempt a one-size-fits all approach to medicine and to push unnecessary prescriptions on people who don't need it. read more

Nickel and Dimed the whole way. This feels like a scam not a medical practice. They seem to want to treat the wallet instead of your sleep apnea above everything else. I had to pay $25 over the phone to secure the first appointment and then each part of their service has a separate co-pay. Office visit, X-Ray, and Sleep Study are all billed separately so you've got 3 specialist copays here on your first visit. I called 24 hours in advance to move my second appointment and I was asked to pay another $25 reservation fee. So in refusing to pay that, my sleep study will be useless and the money previously spent here is wasted. I will pass the information on to the referring physician as well so they understand this is less than ideal. read more

It's extremely important to get the proper airway for a good nights sleep. I finally found an appliance that was comfortable wearing. Horrible horrible horrible. You never see the doctor. Only his assistants. The mouthpiece they made for me did not fit and they tried to get me to accept it anyway so they could get paid by Medicare. When I said no, they shipped it to me. I called the office and told them that was fraud and returned the mouthpiece. They shipped it to me again. In more than six hours I spent there, I only saw Dr. Smith for about five minutes. And he gave me misinformation. Save yourself the time and money. read more

I was disappointed that Dr. Smith was not the person that provided my care. His assistants are very nice and did their best to take impressions and fit the appliance, but I did not find that they were successful. Each night, the appliance would push my teeth in one direction and each day they would move back. It was very uncomfortable. I gave up after going back for fittings 3 times, one time talking with Dr. Smith. He again did not provide any of my care even when I was having difficulty with the appliance. After going to my dentist, I have an appliance that fits right. read more

After 5 years of using my CPAP machine it was recommended that I get a new one. The doctor pulled my history and applauded my use and results. When I explained I was here to obtain a prescription to buy a new one the doctor confirmed it was good to replace them every 5 years or so. But she wouldn't write me a prescription unless I agreed to do the sleep study over again. This would've cost me more money out of pocket and was unnecessary since my results show everything is going well. The prescription would allow me to use my insurance to help cover the cost. These machines are expensive! The doctor refused to write me a prescription so now I have to pay full price out of pocket for a new machine. This is a money making process for Dallas Sleep and they hold the patient hostage by requiring a new sleep study in return for a prescription. They will benefit greatly by charging me and my insurance a great deal of money for the new sleep study. SCAM! If they were patient friendly they would simply write a prescription for a new machine since it was recommended by the doctor after she verified the use was benefiting my health. Very disappointing they put making more money off their patients over patient well being. Beware!! read more

Very unprofessional business. If you are looking for unbiased treatment, stay away from this place. The staff consistently, and unethically, tried to push me towards the oral appliance. Once I made it clear I wanted to try the CPAP first, they referred me to another doctor. Their website states they provide CPAP treatment. They do not! I ended up having to go to another doctor and had to start all over. Their diagnosis is very pointed. Waste of time and money! read more
