UPDATED Dec. 16th…read more SUMMARY: THE PIANO MOVERS OF MAINE WAS A NO-SHOW. OWNER JEFF DAY OFFERED ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, ALTERNATIVES OR APOLOGY, AND LEFT ME WITH $2500 EXTRA EXPENSES BASED UPON BROKEN APPOINTMENT. I recently sold my beautiful Yamaha baby grand piano, and the buyer chose The Piano Movers of Maine to move it, booked on Dec. 16th. The night before the move, Dec. 15, 2023, we learned one of the movers had the flu, he had no intention of showing up in the morning, and never proactively contacted either of us. Zero communication the night before. We only learned they weren't coming because the buyer wanted to confirm arrival time the following morning. Assuming the contact person wasn't moving the piano by himself, why didn't his partner call? Why didn't the company call? Why didn't the company find a new partner to replace the sick mover? Or even ask one of us to help find one? The ramifications of this last minute no-show are far reaching. The piano move requires my builder to partially remove the staircase, which of course was already done since the move was the following morning. But the staircase removal makes it impossible for my new tenants to move in, because they can't move without normal steps. Now it appears I have to pay my builder a 2nd time to reinstall the steps he just removed, so the tenants can move in on the lease date. Then I must pay him a 3rd time to remove the steps on the rescheduled piano-move date, and then I must pay him a 4th time to replace the stairs again after the piano is out. To put this into context: I sold the piano for $6000. The extra work will cost around $2500. At the very least I expect The Piano Movers of Maine to foot that bill. On the evening of Dec. 15th both myself and the buyer left a voice mail with Jeff Day, owner of the company. It was called out that Dec. 20th was the only other day both of us would be in town until Dec. 28th, and the only day that wouldn't incur the extra builder's cost or impact the tenants moving in. I will update this review when a resolution has been reached. Update the following morning, Dec. 16th, day the piano was supposed to be moved. Jeff Day did not bother to return either of our calls. Instead he sent a cursory text to the buyer without any acknowledgement or apology for the massive inconvenience and and expense. Summary: Can't make the 20th, you will need to call somebody else. AVOID THE PIANO MOVERS OF MAINE.

It was clear he knew a ton about pianos and went out of his way to not just sell a piano but to make sure the piano I was looking at was a great fit for my needs. Any purchase I make I do a ton of research and Eli was great at patiently answering all of my questions. They even went out of their way to open their store on an off day to accommodate my schedule.
