WORSE salon experience EVER. first time there...i ordered a wash and blowout. i had to tell…read moreshampoo lady to scrub the spots she missed, having not properly washed! two washes and no conditioner/detangler!!!! mind you my hair is about 2 feet long from scalp to end! at end she piles hair atop head [no towel] and sends me to front of shop for the gentleman to complete blow drying. he did place a hand size towel around neck. i ask him for another neck towel because the water was dripping down neck....he starts to get one then says "oh it's not dripping anymore" as he dabs the neck....the towel falls to floor, he retrieves it and place back on neck. [i was too annoyed to even complain at that point]...when someone has their hands in your head like that it's not wise to complain lest something happens to your hair!! he continues blowing out using MINIMAL amounts of heat protectant, as i pointed out to him that he wasn't doing each piece, to which he mumbled something inaudible while pointing to bottle, like "see i'm using heat protectant". he finishes, leaving ends straight to which i said "can you turn the ends under?"...he thinks i meant to clip the ends....i said yes and he proceeded to ask me to stand up i suppose cause the hair was so long and he snipped the ends...normal people would have customer stay seated to do the clip/snip/cut....smh.....fast 4ward...payment time: $75.00...i said for what???? again, he mumbled something and said "ok $70"....i asked for receipt and he gave me a faded one with the price hand written in pen!!! i am an indian/american person of color, and they obviously are of latin. i held my peace cause God fights my battles and what goes around will come around,,,,mark my words!!!! She canceled our appointment. Undaunted, I went to Riverhead Beauty Supply. There were many brands with which I was unfamiliar, but they did have one that I've used before. So I got three bottles, some developer, some clips, some gloves, some lifting powder, color corrector, and a charcoal eye pencil. It's an extremely well-stocked store, bigger than most Sally stores, but nowhere near the behemoth in Aurora, CO (where a bomber bought his supplies, but I digress). They have a huge section of wigs and hair extensions, along with shampoos, all kinds of creams and oils, including arnica, and hair supplies, although curiously they didn't have color brushes with pintails. I had to buy a pintail comb. The security guard was nice, one lady was almost rude, and the cashier was cheerful and friendly. No one asked what I wanted, or if I needed help, unlike at Sally. I did tell the cashier that if I messed up, I was coming back to talk with her. Then I remembered that I had met a woman who does hair at a yard sale last summer, and we're meeting at Dunkin' for a consultation. Luckily, I am fully stocked with products. Prices are fair. Some shampoos are cheaper elsewhere, but on the whole prices are reasonably good. Some things, like the pintail comb, were very cheap: $2.

Throughout the service, the lady mentioned several times that I already had a lot of color in my hair, which seemed to be her concern. However, this would have been my third highlight appointment at your salon, and another hairstylist was able to successfully work with my hair during both of my previous highlight services without any issues. Unfortunately, the highlights were only applied mainly to my roots rather than being brought down and blended through the hair. As a result, my roots are now significantly lighter than the rest of my highlighted hair, creating a noticeable difference between the new growth and the existing highlights. The final result does not resemble the look I requested or what I have previously received at that salon. I've constantly reached out to see if it would be possible to get fixed and never heard back honestly so disappointed and won't be returning

I asked the girl at the counter one time what brands are cruelty free and she make a weird face and said she had no clue. I honestly wasn't expecting her to know (it was a shot in the dark) but she made ME feel weird for asking her. Other than the spotty customer service their selection is great and always well stocked. They have a well organized sale section and there's always a lot of items to chose from.
