Eight years ago, I came to Cancun on what was then my Yelp love adventure (read my reviews from that time for more info). Back then, I remember that there was an awesome coffee shop with ingredients sourced locally in the Yucatan Peninsula. Unfortunately, I did not find that store at Las Islas this time around. Instead, I found that the only coffee shop here is now a Starbucks. A bummer, because I didn't travel thousands just to drink Starbucks. Alas, I tried making the best of the situation. Granted, most other Starbucks locations in Mexico have provided me with great coffee and service. But this particular location was a rare exception. Let's start with the positives. The store has ample seating, both indoors and outside. The store is kept tidy. The bad... the baristas didn't know what they were doing. I would normally give the benefit of the doubt if the baristas are new, but they had to correct my drink twice. How hard is it to prep an iced coffee with a bit of hazelnut syrup? The ugly... the horrible tasting coffee. Two corrections, and it still tasted horrible the third time around. Fortunately, I added some honey, and we made our way out. Would I return to this Starbucks? Probably not. They need to get their act together.

This Starbucks was in a highly commercialized area in Cancun. They had shops and restaurants around that you would find in the states. The staff was definitely fast and efficient. They only spoke Spanish so I'm glad I had my interpreter with me.

Finding a Starbucks in another country is a great adventure when your a coffee addicted like myself! I collect the "Where we are Mugs" so this location was on my bucketlist! The Starbucks is a chain so inside was like any other Starbucks you see but it was just nice to be able to get a coffee during my trip. They do have different frappe to try, I got the cookies and cream, it was pretty amazing. There are a few desserts that are different from the states. I picked up the berry cheesecake and the pan de queso. The store was really clean and the customers were really nice was a great experience and I was so happy to take on my Cancun mug!!

Caramel Macchiato is yummy for the tummy.

Friendly baristas, plenty of seating inside and outside, efficient (fast), and clean. A nice break from shopping!

I am in love with the Chiapa coffee, smooth and not to strong. I don't think I have seen this brand in the states. This place is fast and the people working here are nice. The location is in the las Dorado shopping center and they do close late which is great.

I got my usual white chocolate mocha. You'll be amazed how many tourists are in this store getting their drinks. Great customer service.

Like I said above the ice shaken espresso was totally different from the version that I'm used to United States, but it was uniquely good in its own way. So I definitely give them four stars. The customer service is really good as well. The inside seating is very nice to relax as the AC is ice cold, which is good because it gets very hot in Cancun. So we were able to cool off drink some coffee and relax. I'm a huge fan of Starbucks so I will always give them a shot if I can find them when I'm traveling. Once again, if you like Starbucks , stop and give them a shot, he will not be disappointed.

There is indoor and outdoor seating - indoor is air conditioned and a little noisier. Outdoors you can sit on the wicker furniture and watch the tourists walk by around you. Unfortunately, Starbucks in Cancun do accept your Starbucks gift cards, but do not give you any stars/rewards in return. You also cannot redeem any free drinks or contribute to a Star Dash or promotion like Starbucks for Life with purchase. They do have their own app in Mexico, but not sure of how to activate it versus my US version. I wanted to try something different that I couldn't get in the US, such as the Mexican Hot Chocolate. Nothing really caught my eye so I ordered a cold brew. It tasted so different from the cold brew I am used to - not sure if they use a different coffee bean or what. Additionally, I was super intrigued by the food display case, so I ordered pan de queso, similar to the cheese bread you would find at a Brazilian steakhouse. They were a little powdery for my tastes, but still super chewy and delicious, flavor-wise. Overall, a great stop for a coffee recharge and some WiFi usage!

It's pretty hidden so be sure to look for the Marina Sunrise sign ( see in my pictures). You walk upstairs and through a Starbucks pop up store/convenience store and then back down to the patio. Very small area but all tables have a gorgeous view of the water and if you get there at opening time (8am) like I did, you get to see the guys getting the rental boats ready for a fun day out on the water. This place is sooo inexpensive and really tasty! If you're looking for a break from the overpriced hotel breakfasts, this is your place. For 90 pesos ( roughly $4 USD) you get your choice of eggs, meat, OJ, coffee. That's a serious bargain. I mixed it up and got scrambled eggs with chorizo and got Grapefruit instead of OJ and opted out of coffee since it was already so hot outside. They also provide delicious tortillas. Totally worth every penny and more! Back home a basic breakfast like this would have run me close to $17, so it was nice to get a break for breakfast not costing you as much as other meals. Worth coming by and enjoying a peaceful traditional breakfast.
