So excited to find a used book store in Craig with a great selection…read more Black Friday was my first time in. Colorful friendly senior staff I found engaging and humorous. Purchased 4 books and looking forward to the entertainment. I have many books from popular authors and after my experience I was looking forward to donating. Being 100 miles from home. I make the trip about once a month. I stopped by this Sat excited to pass the books on so others could enjoy. The owner seemed reluctant when I explained I had brought books that we discussed a few weeks before. It seemed a chore and she was doing me a favor. Despite the change in demeanor from our last meeting I chose to proceed not letting on I was donating and was not going to accept the in-store credit. She seemed unimpressed with cache(3 boxes) but reluctantly offer $40 in store credit. Most books were .50 some were a dollar. My previous visit I spent $40 on 3 books ( good books worth the money) .When I questioned the minimal amount she offered I was informed its all on the website. Then I was informed that the store credit was only good for a week. I was taken back by the change in attitude from our previous encounter. I did take a medium coffee in exchange for the books. This was more than I was planning. I did share with her that I will not be back even though I had thought I found my new favorite spot to get away. No good deed goes unpunished some say. I was so excited about the donation and in the end I felt used. This will be the last time I think about this and am looking forward to finding my next favorite place but will think twice before engaging beyond just being a customer.
