I walked round Gare Centrale station but couldn't spot any so I decided to walk a bit further, passing by Premiere Moison which led me to the escalator right to a shopping mall - Place Ville Marie. I haven't been to the galarie mall despite staying in the downtown for the past 2 weeks. Well, I have ventured a bit further to other tourist spots lol. The mall is very well lighted, classy and comfortable. There's are a few upscale retail shops and coffee joints. I walked into a corridor and happen to spot the green siren sign 30footsteps away!!! I could have easily missed it if I haven't tilt my head to look into the narrow corridor on the left hand side of the mall's exit. I trot towards it happily and saw the queue snaking. It irks me a little but I decided to join the line, blamed it on my cravings. It was the usual morning white collar crowd where people stop by to get their caffeine fix. But the line has been moving fast. The bubbly barista took my orders and often I do not see anyone took the initiative to print my receipts (I'm using my Starbucks card), but she offers me so that I could use them to enjoy the current promotion for the $2 COLD beverages after 2pm. I took it with me even though I m leaving for NYC. I know it becomes useless when I cross the border still :( The wifi network is less congested here. A few table seats available outside the store (in the mall) but more seats can be found right inside the outlet. Fret not. I have enjoyed Starbucks services in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, I have been to at least 10 different outlets altogether. But I must say, this lady here rocks! I will be back when I reached/leave Montreal in 2weeks time.

Otherwise, in the afternoons and on weekends, it's nearly empty and the baristas are absolutely fantastic then, so if you're not craving your cup of coffee in the morning/noon, then just avoid the lines that hail from the nearby banks and companies. There's a tiny inside seating area which seats maybe 5 people comfortably (very stuffy and usually not cleaned frequently) and an outdoor patio area that's quite spacious with tables and chairs.

I was in the Vaudreuil-Dorion area and decided to get an iced black tea before I headed off to shop. I did a quick search and found this cafe. I decided to check out the drive-thru. It looked so new and inviting from the road. I placed by order with a cheerful barista. They switch effortlessly between French and English. She made sure that there wasn't any lemonade in my drink, which I appreciated without any prompting! There is a lot of parking. I parked briefly just to take a picture of the cafe's entrance. It doesn't have as much hype and branding. It seems lower key. However, on this particular visit, the service ran a little more aloof and they weren't crowded. Also, I prefer their selection of desserts. I went in to get something to eat and to do so in the dining area. I settled on a big cup of hot tea and a hefty slice of chocolate cake. While far from nutritionally balanced or healthy, that might have been dinner. However, in Montreal, using transit is always accompanied by walking - how much is up to you - and that can help counter those calories. Second Cup is a Canadian coffeehouse chain. Per the maxim "when in Rome," I try to patronize Canadian establishments when in Canada, be they stand-alone or chain entities. I will only go to Starbucks outside the U.S. if all the stars line up in its favor, so to speak. I've always had good to excellent experiences at Second Cup and, with the dynamic hustle and bustle of Gare Centrale and the Financial District, this is a nice store in which to sit, eat and drink, people watch (which never disappoints in Montreal), and do some laptop or "to do list" time.
