I was in the Vaudreuil-Dorion area and decided to get an iced black tea before I headed off to shop. I did a quick search and found this cafe. I decided to check out the drive-thru. It looked so new and inviting from the road. I placed by order with a cheerful barista. They switch effortlessly between French and English. She made sure that there wasn't any lemonade in my drink, which I appreciated without any prompting! There is a lot of parking. I parked briefly just to take a picture of the cafe's entrance. The tables are always super dirty and never wIped down.. grrr and the floors were filthy .. I didn't see anyone of their staff cleaning the place up from the timee I came in and after about 1-2 hours after I left nothing was being cleaned up. Pros: 1. Free Wifi throughout the joint. 2. This place is IT. The staff is unbelievably well trained, I RARELY get mistakes in my orders which are pretty complicated (soy/almond milk, unsweetened vanilla, easy ice, personal cup, etc.) You'd expect them to miss the mark once or twice, especially when it's crowded, but no. Of course, they don't have a variety of mugs and cups or even food like other Starbucks do, but let's not forget that it is a kiosk located in the middle on the mall and the employees are literally stepping on each other's feet to get your coffee to perfection. They have a nice seating area behind them, but I wouldn't recommend studying there just because it's a shopping mall and it can get crowded and noisy. The staff is incredibly nice and always smiling. One of my go-to Starbucks.

I had of course the spicy pumpkin latte again with skim milk and whip cream and absolutely love it. However as for location it's not the best. There are a few chairs and very small tables and a few couches. The staff/barista was very nice !! They have a special if you buy for $20 of coffee or tea products you get a free Grande format of whichever you want :-) I do believe it is OK to go there to have a coffee with a friend but not an ideal place to sit for over an hour to do an assignment or study. This is why I give it a 3. If you want a coffee to go, its a 4-5/5!!

It doesn't have as much hype and branding. It seems lower key. However, on this particular visit, the service ran a little more aloof and they weren't crowded. Also, I prefer their selection of desserts. I went in to get something to eat and to do so in the dining area. I settled on a big cup of hot tea and a hefty slice of chocolate cake. While far from nutritionally balanced or healthy, that might have been dinner. However, in Montreal, using transit is always accompanied by walking - how much is up to you - and that can help counter those calories. Second Cup is a Canadian coffeehouse chain. Per the maxim "when in Rome," I try to patronize Canadian establishments when in Canada, be they stand-alone or chain entities. I will only go to Starbucks outside the U.S. if all the stars line up in its favor, so to speak. I've always had good to excellent experiences at Second Cup and, with the dynamic hustle and bustle of Gare Centrale and the Financial District, this is a nice store in which to sit, eat and drink, people watch (which never disappoints in Montreal), and do some laptop or "to do list" time.

Speaking of grab and go, Dispatch is not a full sized café--it is a small kiosk with no seating. There is seating within McConnell, or you can sit outside and enjoy your coffee on McGill's beautiful campus. However, don't be fooled by its size, because they have a La Marzocco machine that makes phenomenal espresso drinks. Their brewed coffee is great, but their espresso coffees are amazing. I had their macchiato, and it was the best pick-me-up I could ask for before a big exam. The staff is usually quick, but they can get backed up sometimes with the huge influx of students coming for a coffee after their class ends. Great coffee. Convenient if you are in the Milton / University area. Pay them a visit in between class times when they aren't so busy!

After getting a bit spun around in the underbelly of the Engineering Department (don't get confused like I did...Dispatch is in *McConnell* Engineering, not McDonald Engineering), I followed the sounds of undergrads and soon found a cheery, bustling atrium and the telltale signs of third-wave coffee: a gleaming La Marzocco machine, stacks of hand-stamped white take-away cups, indie rock coming through the speakers, and the smell of good espresso. This is a takeaway counter, not a place to sit and dwell, but you can get a top-notch latte and some fancy thick toast and be on your way. A lovely hidden gem that is sure to destroy the budgets of many a poor caffeine-driven McGill student.
