I recently visited this location. I'm not from this area but was meeting a colleague at this location. As soon as my colleague walked he was told to put his mask, which he had no problem putting on while he ordered. (Keep in mind not every costumer in the cafe has a mask). As we are sitting and drinking our coffee. A man walks in and no one told him to put a mask. Then another guy walks in and also wasn't told to put a mask. The only difference between them and us was we are ppl of color and they are not. I could not believe what I was experiencing seeing that Merced has a high Hispanic population. I will not be returning because I do not feel welcomed or safe. read more

I'm doesn't seem that they are too busy and have 5 people working. Some girl even came out to just wipe counters instead of making drinks. Idk how the system works with drinks but I've seen some people get drinks faster then me. And I've seen others waiting just as long as I have. So I'm pretty irritated. Waited in line for a half hour. Four cars in front of us. Their alarm was going off forever. They could not shut it down. To top of the extremely long wait time, we were given a broken straw. Your mobile drink may take over 30 mins to get. Mobile order my 7 drinks and my last drink took over 30 minutes to be made. I was there before the rush and was the last one out. Spoke to the manager and he told me my sticker was lost. I went up and reminded them several times. Still, no one made my drink until the rush was gone. I never take to writing reviews on yelp because I would rather resolve my issues in person, but the experience i had with one employee needs to be shared. I was traveling in the area and decided to stop for coffee since I had a long drive ahead of me and was feeling tired. The employee in question I believe her name was Misty seemed very innatentive, avoided eye contact, and overall had a snarky attitude. There was no reason for such unacceptable behavior especially since the store was not very busy. I am used to the person on register usually handing me my coffee but for some reason Misty went to the back and i could hear her confrontating an employee in the back of the store. She was yelling at the employee to serve me my coffee even though this person was on bar dealing with other drinks. This poor employee came out and had difficulty catching up on orders when this Misty individual could have been helping! Then Misty comes out stood by the register laying against the counter on her phone not even trying to hide it. I'm not looking for free handouts I just want to shed light of an obvious situation where a person in leadership is abusing their power. This is arguably the worst Starbucks in the area. I do not understand why they always have only one person in the drive thru. Do you need more people or is your management just horrible? The staff is rude and does not care if you are in a hurry, they will stand there and wait. Not to mention the fact that the wait time here is completely ridiculous. Atmosphere: Nice location on a busy street, between the Merced Mall and CVS. Inside has a lot of seating area, great for students, working professionals and anyone who just wants to chill. Customer service: I really like the employees here. They are always helpful and are on top of their orders. If I order online, my order is always ready for me. And if they don't have a certain pastry I requested for online, they know how to work their customer service magic! Thanks for the consistency in offering well rounded service! Horrible customer service. If I can give this place no stars I totally would.I made a mobile order and when I got to the location no one greeted me know what I asked if I need any help and I literally stood there, For a good 10 minutes literally right in front of their faces. My drink was the iced green tea latte that you see in the picture right in the back and all they were doing was making their drinks, no one ever said hi and no one asked if I needed any help and I had to stand there and stare at my drink for that whole 10 minutes until I had to interrupt them and ask to give them my drink. She did not even say sorry, she just gave me my drink and went on with her business i'm sorry but I thought a mobile order was supposed to be on the go. Apparently they need to create a spot where mobile order customers can go. Like the one on Yosemite. The reason why I am writing this review is because I had to waste 10 minutes standing there when I had somewhere to be immediately right afterwards and the fact that I had already paid for it made me wait. The new Starbucks in Merced on Olive Ave. is great, much better than the half assed phony Peet's Coffee at the Raley's grocery store in their bakery department. You can't just do coffee half way. It's either coffee, or birthday cake decorating and selling every other grocery store product at the same bakery counter, but you can't do everything grocery, AND serve coffee customers at the same time. Plus, Raley's sells its own Raley's brand coffee. Talk about a conflict of interest. No wonder people tell me Peet's is no good. They have never been to a real Peet's Coffee and Tea shop. read more

September 29, 2019, at 4:58 I order two drinks and a scone my app then tells me my order is up and ready after a 5-minute wait.. Only to be told after I waited another 5 minutes there was no nitro cold brew . I agreed to something similar to my original order.. And after looking at 9 different orders go by and a total of 19 minutes after my original order I ask for my money back and wasn't even told sorry or an apology I then was told to scan my phone to get my refund because I was on lunch I couldn't stay any longer.
