I've mainly visited their other cafe in Corktown but the OG location still brings better coffee and community vibes. Came by Mercury Espresso recently where I ordered a cortado. They had coffee beans for sale from local as well as other Canadian coffee roasters. Service was friendly and my cortado was made super well! Staff also mentioned that they're doing giveaways for 20 years where you could win prizes from businesses around the area (so nice!). Seating can be limited if it gets busy so I decided to grab my coffee to go. Overall, a solid coffee shop in the Leslieville area - honestly can't go wrong with going to Mercury Espresso!

There were a couple of folks ahead of me, which gave me time to look over the beverage menu and gawk at all the yummy-looking cakes and pastries in front of me. Oh, my! I got the nicest female barista who stepped me through everything. I wanted the oat caramel chai on the menu. I saw the fine print that it could also be ordered iced, which appealed to me. She asked me if a medium was okay. I rarely visit a Second Cup that her prompting the perfect size for me was awesome. I got a medium iced oat caramel chai. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and moved over to the pickup table. I was carrying a bag of goodies from Cinnaholic. I didn't even think of putting it on the small table. I'd expect drinks to be placed there. An obnoxious man joined me at the pickup area. He leaned over this table by putting his forearms on it to look at his phone. I gave him quite the stare. He eventually moved himself off the table. Ugh! My drink was ready. The nice barista placed it on the table that no longer had a hunched-over man over it. I got a straw, put it through the lid, and left the store. This drink was delicious. It was slightly sweet. I loved the caramel notes with the chai flavour. The oat beverage was barely noticeable. I liked that it was a dairy-free drink. So good! It was my first time sipping on a drink as a commuter on a train. There's a first for everything. There are only 2 locations in BC and many more locations in Alberta. Tim beats Second Cup in Alberta and it was funny when googling, I didn't realized the number of Second Cups in Alberta. I was in Alberta for 6 months and have never seen a Second Cup or maybe I wasn't paying attention. Yes Second Cup is a Canadian company and at one point Starbucks talked about buying them out. Guess that never happened. I preferred their competitor drinks over them due to the location and the available options. Their coffee is ok and like I said not wow. I remember visiting Starbucks at Brookfield Place, where I worked. I signed up for Starbucks rewards there. Months later, I ended up changing jobs and working at Yonge and Eglinton. There were plenty of Starbucks locations in the area, so I ended up being a regular Starbucks customer. After all these years, I didn't really have a favourite Starbucks cafe. Sure, I visit my local one a lot out of convenience, but it's not my favourite. I'd say the one closest to my workplace is close to being my favourite because it has a drive-thru and staff are extremely friendly. They like being there and appreciate that I appreciate what they do. My friend, Sandy, and I dropped by this Starbucks cafe in late August before a Yelp event in Oakville. Frankly, my knowledge of the Mississauga-Oakville border is so poor that I thought this cafe was in Oakville. Nope, it's considered Mississauga. I have found my favourite Starbucks cafe. It's this one. This cafe has a drive-thru. It had steady business when we dropped by. We wanted to get drinks, sit down, chat, and kill some time. It's rare that I can't comment on going through a Starbucks drive-thru. It's the case here. I backed into a parking spot fairly close to the main entrance. We got out of my car and entered the cafe. Sandy did a pitstop. I used the washroom before we left. There are two single stalls. The one that I used was clean and roomy. I went to place my order. My favourite drink these days is the cool lime refresher. It was a regular drink on the menu years ago. Starbucks got rid of it. When it returns for a limited time, I pounce on it like a tabby cat. I got the nicest barista. When I ordered this refresher in a grande size, she asked if it was for here or to go. I said the former. She asked if I wanted it in a glass or a cup. A glass?! Super fancy! It was a first for me. I went for the glass. Wow! And, that's why this cafe is my favourite. I have never had any Starbucks cold drink in a glass before. I had my Starbucks barcode on my app scanned to pay for my drink. I like that my name shows up automatically on the label. It didn't take long for my drink to be ready. Yes, I picked up the solid glass containing my cool lime refresher. I sat down with Sandy and her drink. My glass had a sticker with my name and my order on it. Maybe my glass was chilled a bit. I loved my cool lime refresher. It tasted even better in a glass. Maybe it's psychological. I don't know. I do know that it hit the spot and I felt classy. Yes to getting a drink in a glass. Sandy had her drink in a cup. I showed her the braille at the bottom of it. She thought it was neat. Her reaction was similar to mine when I accidentally found it. This cafe is clean. Staff are friendly. The only downside was that there weren't any baked goods in the display case. I'm not sure why. Luckily, I wasn't in need for any, so I'm not docking any stars off my rating. There was a bin to put your glasses and dishes in by the garbage and recycle bin. I actually cleaned out my car and brought my empty beverage bottles in to be recycled. I loved being here. This cafe stands out. It is my favourite Starbucks cafe and I'm happy that I have one at long last. I hope to return and try the drive-thru. I'd also like to come back and have a drink in a glass. The team is consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. It never feels scripted. You feel welcomed, remembered, and taken care of every time you walk in. Even during busy periods, the staff stays calm, professional, and positive. There is clearly strong leadership and good training behind the scenes. The store feels well run, organized, and supportive, and that shows directly in the customer experience. The service is consistent, the details are handled well, and the energy in the space is always steady and welcoming. In a brand as large as Starbucks, it is rare to find a location that stands out this much. This one does because of the team culture, the care they bring to their work, and the way they represent the brand day in and day out. Corporate should be proud of the people working here. Highly recommend this location, not just for the coffee, but for the experience.
