Busy store, but staff optimizes efficiency and does it with a genuine smile. Definitely my favorite coffee shop.

Maybe just have a coffee when you go, and don't loudly delight in the wholesale killing of kids and forced starvation of a population. Some people just want to have an espresso.

My friend -- a Christian, not even Jewish -- was meeting with a pastor for coffee. He was wearing an IDF jacket and a Star of David necklace while discussing a recent trip to Israel. No shouting. No confrontation. No disruption. Just coffee and conversation. An employee called Durham Regional Police. Officers showed up and told him his conversation was "offensive." When asked what was said that violated policy, no one could answer. No rule cited. No clear complaint identified. Just vague discomfort -- and removal. So what exactly triggered this escalation? Not behavior. Not threats. Not harassment. Symbols. And Israel. Calling the police on someone because others don't like what he's wearing or the country he's discussing is cowardly and discriminatory. Businesses don't get to selectively silence viewpoints they don't agree with. And weaponizing law enforcement to remove someone over perceived "offense" is an outrageous abuse of discretion. If Cork & Bean believes visible support for Israel warrants police involvement, they should say that publicly. If they don't, then they owe an immediate explanation and apology. Until management addresses this directly and transparently, this establishment does not deserve community support. Do better.

We could see the gigantic bags of coffee bags used for decoration, lots of books on birds and insects and comfy looking seating that made the space very inviting. Any other time, I would have loved to vege out with a book for a while but we didn't have the luxury of time then. We ordered a corrafo with their decaf coffee with a chocolate syrup for my daughter and I tried their pour over, which is a lot like a single serving of hand drip coffee. I opted for their barnyard owl (?) dark which turned out to be slightly more acidic than what I am used to. Both drinks were prepared with great care and we were definitely happy that we discovered this little spot.

The drinks are not only delicious but on weekends you can find the owners in the store working away. After speaking with them and learning the back story of this business I fell in love. They are so passionate about birds and being as sustainable as possible. You can recycle coffee bags for a discount, take coffee Chaff home for your garden, purchase homemade scrub made from the coffee. They have purchased loved again items for the shop and they even promote local artists in the area. I will definitely come back here and chance I get .
