This review is solely based on my most recent visit and not any previous ones. I originally thought stars, but then changed to 3 stars for a couple reasons. As soon as I walked in, I received a generic greeting, but I was okay with it. Usually the baristas are way too busy to even greet customers as they walk in. I decided to place my order through the app to make it easier (for me) since I always have "complicated" orders to say out loud. They were really busy but as I was patiently standing there, waiting for my drink, the barista asked what drink I'm waiting for and started on it right away. There isn't any indoor seating available, but there is outdoor seating. There was once indoor seating available, so not sure if this was a temporary or permanent change. I was hoping to be able to charge my phone, but there weren't any outlets available indoors or outdoors. The bathrooms are only for customers, which makes sense, keeps random non-customers from using them...gives slight NY vibes. However, I believe they require a code from staff. read more

Surprisingly busy on Christmas Eve. Wanted the holiday drinks though and they didn't disappoint! The toasted white chocolate mocha and sugar cookie almond drinks were super good! Although, a little shocked at how much Starbucks drinks' prices have gone up. I'm not a constant customer so I don't get it often. Just your average Starbucks but good drinks. I would rank this Starbucks towards the bottom compared to other ones in the area. Service is subpar (unfriendly) and the drinks aren't mixed/portioned correctly. This location does a good job on the espresso drinks - we just moved our office into the Reston Town Center - so a daily pitstop for a caffeine jolt is just what the doctor ordered. The drinks are strong and well made. However, my gripe with this Starbucks is that they seem to be in slow motion when it gets busy in the afternoon - and there is ALWAYS a line when I visit in the afternoon. Compared to other locations, the Barrista's here seem like they are moving at a snail's pace! I think they need a few shots of their own caffeinated drug products to get it going! I was staying at the Hyatt Regency Reston for a conference, so this Starbucks location in Reston Town Center became one of my frequent stops that week away from home. Unless you're one of those lucky customers, it's more of a grab-and-go Starbucks due to limited seating. Every time I went there, all the seats were taken at either the inside window ledge or the outdoor tables in the fenced-in area on the sidewalk (and some days it rained). The staff behind the counter were friendly and offered recommendations when I asked. That's one of my things I'll do, and sometimes I'll get that cold, dead-eyed look from the person behind the register; this didn't happen here :) All the drinks that I ordered there were made well. Overall, it's a 4 star for me. Great if you are staying in the Hyatt Regency. read more

There's not much to say about this particular Starbucks. Located in Reston so it's a nice area so I assume they'd have one, but it's rather lackluster. Friendly staff of course but the shop itself is rather cramped for my taste. Especially for the are it's in. There is a very tiny space for a half table and a few stools. But that's too comfy for my liking. As I stated, not a bad shop at all, definitely great for your to-go orders, but not much of a wow factor. read more

This Starbucks, and I believe others in suburban settings where there is little competition, continues to have poor service. I'm promised a ready time for a mobile order, trying to keep a schedule, and it's generally later than the promised time, as was the case today with my order. The shop was very crowded and there were large mobile orders (multiple coffees and food) that probably make keeping a mobile schedule impossible. The coffee is decent, food ok, but the service really makes the experience with this Starbucks difficult. Looks to me like a great place to set up a shop to compete with them. read more

I highly recommend it if you want a grab and go coffee, but it's only truly convenient if you're in the area! Parking is tough sometimes and the line takes about 10 minutes. Parking: there is valet at Morton's next door for $6 depending on when you arrive. There is 2$ an hour parking at the garage behind Starbucks, there's a walkthrough between Morton's and Sephora to take you directly to the Starbucks. But truly, if you're not walking to this Starbucks there are more convenient Starbucks in the area. Lines: 10-15 min wait. The lines are always long here. I've noticed with other Starbucks location if I can arrive at 9 in the morning instead of 8 AM, and 3 PM instead of 6 PM I can avoid a line. But not here. This is Reston Town Center, we have so many residents, companies, and shopping/dining foot traffic that it should be no surprise you're waiting 10-15 for a drink. Drink Quality: awesome! with the exception of 1 barista here, morning, day, and even my 8 PM lattes come out as perfection. My soy + no foam requests have always been honored and I've never had to send a drink back. Baristas: great! everyone is so pleasant here. One day I noticed my mobile order was missing! Someone walked out with my latte! :-( as soon as I made a comment that leaving the drinks open for anyone's hand to grab may not be the safest place, the morning barista has made a point to always hold mine off to the side, which I appreciate. I only wish they had enough space to do that for all mobile orders! Working space: dismal! there's barely enough room for the baristas to do their job, let alone a place to display Starbucks merchandise or for you to work from Starbucks. There are 6 stools here at the window- if you don't get one you're SOL. However, if the day is nice there are a few outdoor tables! Every time I come in here I think of how they could redesign it but really they have an award space to work with, so this is definitely a grab and go Starbucks, not a work inside one. This store is a little smaller than most Starbucks, but I visit it pretty regularly and always have had great service! The baristas here are very friendly and efficient. Even though it stays very busy throughout the day, I've never had to wait absurdly long for a drink no matter the time of day. There have been a couple of times when baristas in training didn't make my drink order correctly but they've always been very responsive and willing to make me a new one. Since it is a little smaller, I normally just take my order to go rather than having it there, but the store seems to stay pretty clean. All in all, I've enjoyed it! read more

I usually love Starbucks but I refuse to ever visit this location (on Freedom Dr in Reston Town Center) again. I went in to buy a bottle of water one afternoon and the lady at the cash register said she couldn't print out a receipt for me because her cash register was broken. She said that because of that, I could come back and get a free pastry later. She gave me a receipt and said all I needed to do was show the receipt and get a free pastry later that day. I was annoyed I didn't get a receipt (I always ask for one), but was happy that that would mean I would get a free pastry later. I went in later that day to get my free pastry and there was another promotion going on where people could show their earlier receipts and get $1 pastries. I went up and asked for the free pastry the girl at the cash register had told me about earlier and they said that it wasn't free, but $1. I told them that the girl at the cash register had told me earlier that I would get one for free, since she couldn't give me my receipt. I asked to speak with the manager, since the person I was speaking with was a bit rude and I wanted this resolved. The manager came out from the back and told me that it was $1, not free. I told her that perhaps they should train their employees better to not misinform their customers. Needless to say, I did not buy any pastries. Not even for $1. And I will not visit this Starbucks location again. Was $1 really worth losing a frequent customer? You tell me. read more

Why would anyone bother to rate a Starbucks?? This is my starbucks, about 1 mile from my Reston, VA home. Here is where I stop on way to work, sometimes as early as 5am (opening time) to get a grande and a cheese danish or blueberry scone. No lines at that hour thankfully. Other times, not the best in terms of crowd management. My gripe with Starbucks is simple. Once the crowds come, the Barristas should minimize the chit-chat and just serve! Ala Dunkin Donuts where you usually get a nod of the head, if that ,prior to being the next in line and ready to place your order. read more

Why the low reviews? It's a Starbucks right in the Reston Town Center and it's usually pretty busy!! BUT, the servers know their job: While one person is standing at the cashier, the other person is taking everyone's orders and the third person is making the drinks (well at least that's how it goes in the mornings) So, by the time you pay, you pretty much either have your drink ready or need to wait a couple moments. It's Starbucks so no comment on what you get. You basically get Starbucks coffee. The quality of service in this place is somewhat bad compared to other places in the area. Busy baristas, long waiting lines, tight place (no space to line up sometimes), and sometimes the baristas gets creativity and give you something other than what you ordered. It's Saturday... So there's not the normal crowds .. Shouldn't things just work efficiently ? Ordered a chocolate croissant and a skinny mocha . Mocha came out and I asked about my pastry. The girl who rang me up never put it in the oven to warm and then the guy who handed me the pastry still in the plastic wrapper...? Gave me a plain one. There are literally six seats on a little bar that looks out the window. There are a few outdoor seats (benches and tables). And there Isn't a lot of space in the indoor area for those six seats, so expect to get to know your neighbor whether you like it or not! Well...it's a Starbucks for heaven's sake...anyone expecting any surprises on the menu, daily specials, or Batista tasting menus (thou that's actually not a bad idea now that I think of it). So, this location certainly seemed 'more together' in the past but this could be a function of the increased growth within the RTC and exceptional overabundance of espresso crazed office staff in the area. This place is too busy, offers questionable service, and just not fun and comfortable to hang out in any more. I've been going to this Starbucks for quite some time. Today unfortunately was pretty frustrating. I ordered a caramel macchiato with cloud foam. The lady who announces the mobile orders is always in a frenzy. When I went to grab my order, she wasn't paying attention and squeezed a TON of caramel into my drink minutes after the gentlemen who made my drink ALSO added caramel. You can see in the picture it's an absurd amount. It's actually really bad. I would go back to exchange but can't today. Where to start. On week DAYS the drinks are consistent rich full and good to perfect. Nights and weekends,however, are another story. Most of the time they are watery and or forget to put the right drinks together. We ordered a caramel brulee hot chocolate and a gingerbread latte. We got watery milk like coffee and a gingerbread hot chocolate. They apologized and fixed it yet this was not the first time this had happened. The staff itself is professional (on weekdays), friendly, and do great work. Bobby does a stellar job as well keeping things running. He takes complaints seriously and is the reason we kept giving this location try after try. Our last two visits were great. Lisa did an excellent job (as usual) Bottom line is when you figure out the good baristas are don't bother going in if they are not at the bar. at over $4.00 a cup its not worth anything less than perfect. read more

If you've seen my previous posts you will know that I make frequent visits to SB across NOVA area. Me and my wife were in the area for the Pet Fiesta and stopped by to get some refreshments! It was really crowded and the servers were swamped. There was a long waiting time but I was totally cool since I had a great company (my wife!). My wife got her Peach Green Tea Lemonade 7-8 minutes after. But they forgot/missed to make my drink all together (LOL). OK, Starbucks is Starbucks - you know what you get. When abroad (well, we do have Starbucks in Sweden now, but for me it is my vacation mustgoto) I always get a frappuccino with espresso shot. No fake whipped cream. This specific Starbucks is teeny weeny with only like 4 chairs indoors. Luckily the free wifi is also accessible outdoors, but when I was there it was raining. I used to come to this place almost every weekday. Then I got bad service several times in a row, and I am probably just going to avoid this place unless I'm being really lazy. I've had a lot of issues with mobile ordering from this place. This could be the starbucks app, which sucks in its own regard, but the staff here does not handle things well when a mobile order goes wrong. One time when my order got lost, a staff member actually suggested to me that I might have messed up my mobile order and picked a different store. And another time, they ran out of what I had ordered and then just said you can pick anything else. I had a friend who had ordered the same thing as me and got the last order of the item. She had suggested that she could go with something else and the guy behind the counter misinterpreted and thought that she wanted the other thing and started to grab it. Then when we clarified that we hadn't decided yet, they got annoyed at us. Aside from the shitty service, drinks here aren't always that consistent either. I used to like ordering the cascara cold brew, but most of the time, they'd forget the sugar on top of the foam, and sometimes the foam is like half the drink. I'd just recommend that people go to someplace better in the town center -- for example, Pitango's coffee and service are way better. read more
