Coffee

Came to Starbucks today hoping to waste some time before the pharmacy opens. Boy did they ever deliver. 26 minutes to get a biscuit after ordering it. I had time for my coffee to cool down and watch a little of the ballgame thanks to their free wifi. I love watching a game in such a tense atmosphere. Tons of Karens standing around staring at the likely underpaid staff like statues. Tributes to the concept of waiting for your overpriced coffee. Behold their sacrifice on the altar of caffeine!

Bacon and Gruyere Egg Bites

Probably my favorite SBUX in town. If there is a line of 4 or more in drive thru, it moves super fast. Plus, you can pre-order ahead on the mobile app, pay for it and just run in or pull thru in little time. I believe a few of the vehicles ahead of me did the same. Today I ordered a Venti White Mocha with Soy Milk and light whip...hot, I might add, along with something new, the bacon, Gruyere and egg sous vide bites (2 of them) for $4.95. That's basically what I would pay for 2 pieces of nigiri at a sushi restaurant, so why not. My white mocha was wonderful, as in, it was stirred, hot (but not piping) and prepared just as expected by the talented barista inside. Nice. The sous vide bites were surprising...in a good way. Now I know these are re-heated, pre-packaged morsels and are not freshly made, but these were still good. The bites were wonderfully fluffy, the bacon was some good sh .... stuff and the aromatics of the Gruyere cheese flowed throughout each bite. Now, these aren't large discs of sous vide. In fact, they're small. So small, I took small bites and finished in 6 total bites. That's 83 cents per bite and roughly 28 cents per chew. I felt my tastebuds were ok with that; I would order these again if the mood struck me right and no local businesses would sound appealing at that moment. They're very tasty though and I would definitely pick these up at the market if SBUX would mass market them to grocers. The service was fantastic. I cannot recall the pleasant lady's name at the drive thru window but her Fedora hat was suave, she was masked & gloved and she had a pleasant motherly demeanor from greeting to good bye. SBUX has become the java juggernaut they are today by giving people what they want, consistently and by serving quality products. Their rewards program is always engaging, interactive and, honestly is one of the best reward programs in the corp. food and bev. game. This location met all standards and I was very pleased from my handcrafted mocha to the egg bites to the service. Thank you again for being my #1 Starbucks in Wilmington.

This is probably my favorite Starbucks to come too and it is recently new. The staff is super friendly and anytime I have gone through the drive thru I always end up having a conversation with one of them at the window because they are so nice and care about there customers and interact with them. The drive thru is always quick and I can go there and be out in under 5 minutes I love it! Before you walk inside there is a huge outdoor seating area with plenty of seating. When you walk in there is also plenty of seating inside which I love because sometimes seats in Starbucks fill up quick. It is also quite in their making it easy to get work done. The coffee is also amazing and the food they provide is yummy and fresh. Skyla is my fave barista there she is so nice and friendly!!

Normally I get a white chocolate mocha but today I decided to try something different and I was so happy I did, omg my taste buds were happy and I definitely needed the morning pick me up. The location is nice and surrounded by restaurants, the movie theater and some other shops. This Starbucks is close to my place so I occasionally stop here and the employees are always super nice and friendly.

This is one of my favorite Starbucks to go to and luckily it's right by me. I love the fact that everyone is so warm and welcoming! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with a smile and a good morning from the baristas. I have been plenty of times and it's never crowded so they do a good job of pushing out orders. They have a drive thru but I always enjoy going inside. Each time, I am normally served by Denise and she is so sweet. She always compliments me which is nice as I am heading to work :). This location is pretty standard as it has tables and chairs so you would definitely be able to work from here if you so desired. They have tables outside too. And I think what's most important is that they make great drinks! They have a good coffee to dairy (or nondairy) ratio which I think is important when making speciality beverages. Sometimes they can be too sweet or too bitter. But they always make it right!!

The chocolate shavings on top really put it over the edge for me and made it extra tasty. The girl behind the counter was so sweet and helpful as well, and had our drinks out pretty quickly. Maven takes a different approach to coffee, skipping the standard heavy syrup you find in most places and instead focusing on carefully crafted pieces of art. I would describe their style as a hybrid between the craftsmanship of fine dining, the flavor blending of craft cocktails, all wrapped up in an artistic display. The people working here are skilled and very friendly and happy to explain their menu My wife had the campfire latte, which was a gentle s'mores flavor with freshly crumbled graham cracker topping in a marshmallow they toasted right in front of you as a top. Most importantly, it was very coffee forward on flavor with very minimal but appropriate use of sweetening flavors. I had the chocolate cherry truffle latte, which was again very coffee forward with very subtle and perfectly balanced flavors. Most interestingly, the drinks were a very fair price, because with this level of artistry in presentation you'd expect it to be expensive. This was a great little stop on vacation, and if I was local I would come more often. They are definitely stepping out of the mold of the traditional mainstream coffee shop, And doing a great job.

The customer service is excellent and the baristas have gotten to know me and provide recommendations for new things to try based on what I have had in the past. The shakes, iced coffee, and lotus energy drinks are great. The shop provides seating outside and inside. There is one bathroom that is kept clean. Overall, the shop is very clean. Iced coffee and regular refills are $0.50. The baristas have made an effort for me to know their names, as well and many have helped create a great environment through great conversations. The only note, which many customers would likely agree, is that the aesthetically pleasing menu can be a bit overwhelming at first glance due to the many options. But, once you take it in, you can find what you are looking for to order. If you can't, the baristas will be happy to help make something that is amazing for you. There is also a roll the dice game that helps create a beverage for you, as well. All in all, Grinders is a great place to get caffeinated, socialize with others, and get work done.

A friend and I were shopping yesterday and I was in dire need of caffine, so we parked right next to the food court so this could be our first stop! There was a cute chalkboard sign next to the register showcasing their cold brew coffee. I love cold brew. If you're unfamiliar, cold brew coffee is just coffee that is steeped overnight. The coffee slowly infuses with the water, so you get a stronger brew. An added advantage is that you get virtually no bitter flavor that sometimes remains after a normal hot brew. Anyway, needless to say, I ordered their cold brew with a half-pump of sugar free vanilla syrup and almond milk. This is my go to coffee order because I don't want it super sweet. Additional reason: I have to get in a bathing suit this weekend. The coffee was strong but not bitter. Very smooth and the barista mixed the perfect amount of almond milk! Perfect! My friend Maranda got a mint chocolate chip coffee ice cream shake. Let me tell you, this thing was ah-maz-ing! Not super sweet, chocolatey with a hint of mint, and you could still taste the coffee behind it all. She let me try it, but I wouldn't asked to if she hadn't! I was mint-green with envy at her order. Seriously, give this local shop a try! It is fantastic and the service was equally as wonderful!
