Recently purchased a model 3 performance and made an appointment to get my car tinted. Two days before my tint job I checked my windshield. Just my luck I found a small rock chip. While the tint shop said it wouldn't affect tint install, just to be cautious, I made an appointment with Steve at Stargone to fix the chip. I didn't want to install tint just for the chip to spread in my new car. From past experience, windshield repair is MUCH cheaper than replacement. Steve responded to my initial inquiry almost immediately and had availability the next day. So the process of setting up a windshield repair appointment was pretty stressful free. Once Steve arrived he took a look at the chip, said it was just cosmetic (and there was no risk of spreading), and didn't charge me anything. I thought about fixing it anyway, but he advised it's better to just leave it as is. I really appreciated Steve coming by and giving me the best recommendation, even if meant no fees due. Mind you I sent him pics of the chip beforehand. So the fact he came by anyway to inspect it in person was much appreciated. Steve was very friendly and helpful. From when I first contacted he was very nice and on time for the appointment. Although he wasn't able to fully fix my crack it still looks less noticeable than it was originally. Unfortunately water from the morning dew got into the crack and the crack spread. Once Steve was done he told me the bad news and said there would be no charge because the results were not up to his standards. The crack was still visible but very minimal compare. A few days ago a rock hit my windshield loudly, I looked for any mark, because I knew Steve at Stargone could fix it for me if I acted fast. I found one, and called him a few days later. (Not driving so much these days, working from home.) He came out the next morning, working around my complicated Zoom meeting schedule. And told me that the mark I saw had been fixed before. I argued, how could that be? He mostly shrugged and said he couldn't fix what already had been fixed. Gradually I realized it had to be the spot he had fixed about a year ago, also working around my very complex work schedule. So, he was ready to head off, zero dollars in his pocket. I asked him to look to be sure I hadn't just missed the spot. H found lots of pock marks, not to be repaired, but, yes, eventually found a spot where a chunk of glass was missing.
