A few months ago I had a procedure done at Allura that didn't go smoothly, to say the least. Due to machinery malfunction it took much longer than it should have and caused unbearable pain. My technician was very kind, however, and I didn't cause any sort of fuss (read: I have manners and have worked in customer service). A few hours after my appointment I received a call from the office manager apologizing for the ordeal and telling me that they would offer me $50 off of my next treatment appointment, making my total cost $100, whether that be in 12 weeks or 8 months (direct phrasing from the call). A couple months later I book an appointment for the same treatment, expecting the discount as I was told. This time the process went much smoother. I had a different technician who was also very kind and friendly like the first. There were a few minor hiccups but nothing major and the pain was minimal. When I went to checkout, however, I was told my total was $150. I referenced the discount I was told I would receive (which was written in my file and also mentioned to the manager by the technician) and the same office manager who told me that I would be getting the discount, told me that the price of $150 was already a promotional price that could not be discounted. So I paid the $150 because what choice did I have. Later I emailed the office for clarification and I was told again by the office manager about the promotional pricing and that she was sorry for the confusion. I don't think I was lied to or tricked (or at least I hope no one would do that), maybe when I was told the next treatment would be $100 she really thought it would be and later learned that it could not be discounted. However, it was a mistake on their part, not a misunderstanding on mine. They should have either honored the pricing that they gave me (again, as it was their mistake) or at the very least, owned up to it and told me prior to my session instead of after when I had no choice but to pay it. The extra money was annoying, of course, but the fact that they tried to almost weasel their way through their error was unacceptable to me. Had it not been for this situation, I would have gladly gone back to Allura (even despite the issues with my first appointment), but the way that this problem was handled really rubbed me the wrong way and I don't plan to return or recommend them.

Starkey Medical is wonderful! The staff (Kim, Nikki, Michelle) always have a smile and are upbeat and positive. I really appreciate the support I get from Kim, when I am frustrated about my body! My first experience with Starkey Medical was through a Groupon purchase for LipoVibe. As another person commented, the machine did break, but the Starkey Medical team called me right away and kept in touch as they awaited the arrival of the new machine. They cared about me and wanted to get me scheduled as soon as it was possible. It all worked out fine. I have since returned without a Groupon, because I love the LipoVibe. It is NOT magic; it is science - I would say! Therefore, we need to follow a few instructions from the staff. Drink a lot of water that day and the next. It is also important to realize that it takes more than 1 or 2 appointments to see the full result. (Although, I could see a difference after 1 visit!!) It is not an instant fix to get rid of extra fat. I have hit 40 (almost 42 now) and have areas around my midsection that will not go away even though I watch what I eat and exercise. That is where LipoVibe rocks! It helps me with the areas that have been giving me such frustration. Their office setting is very soothing and relaxing. It is an older building, but has been updated - but still has that unique feel and charm. I feel good about myself when I leave my appointments. I am amazed on my results so far at Starkey Medical Esthetics!!!! I absolutely adore Kim, she has been great explaining what I need to do and reminds me every single visit to continue to do the after treatment process. By doing what she said - I have lost 10 inches and I am not done with my treatment sessions yet!!!!! 10 INCHES - all by following the steps that were given to me and the reminders to continue to do them. I could NOT be more happier. Yes they are located in a house that has been converted into a business and for me personally - I love it. I like the home feeling when I go in and I don't feel like a number. Their prices are very affordable so normal people like myself can afford to make improvements to themselves. I signed up through Groupons for Lipo Vibe and laser hair removal. I have had a very good experience every time I have gone for treatment. The facility is clean and spacious. I felt welcome as soon as I came in. The employees are very nice and accommodating. I have had to change my appointment due to a busy schedule and they worked with me. I found out that they honor the same prices as Groupon and have specials when you can visit before signing up. This has worked great for me. I would highly recommend Starkey Medical. Fantastic services for skin rejeuvenation. I had the Pelleve treatment for the wrinkles around my eyes and mouth and was really pleased with the results. It does take about 3 treatments to get the results but it was well worth the wait. I felt the prices were wonderful for the results I got. Great value! I loved the online scheduling the have as well. The staff at Starkey. Medical Esthetics is knowledgeable and thorough. They take time to listen to my concerns and evaluate my skin. I recently had laser hair removal and was pleased that they took the time to test my skin before proceeding. I found out that I am a Fitzpatrick skin type 3 which means that most lasers are safe. My sister is a 4 though so her skin can burn easier. I highly recommend Michele Meinhart and her staff of estheticians. read more

They opened another location in Salem, so when I was not able to get in the Roanoke office immediately for an appointment, they offered me an appointment there.
