I actually vlogged the whole experience :) ALADDIN VLOG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z99ezsnTKQ4& My little sister, Kelly (then 7 y/o), was cast as Abu (Aladdin's monkey BFF) and it was simply magical! Neisha knows how to put on a show! From the costumes, to the stage design and the elaborate dance choreography, you will NOT be disappointed. I've firsthand experienced Kelly's speech improve, confidence on stage grow and even her social skills have seen improvement. Between being immersed in quality acting, learning all the dance choreography to music numbers, I was impressed & pretty proud to see how my sister had grown. Not to mention, it was very sweet how all the teen actors took care of her like I would. After every show, all the actors were very supportive like a tight family. While I didn't do Aladdin because I was busy graduating highschool a year early, I was backstage during showtime helping out with makeup. It's safe to say everybody was very sweet - the only drama happened in the acting :P

I couldn't believe my ears when my daughter told me the things that were said to her. This was so out of line. She was not trying to be on Broadway. She was doing an online Zoom class during summer just to have fun and kill some time. I'm certainly not a parent that believes their child is some prodigy and wouldn't expect her to be treated any other way but fair. I do believe these people should know how to interact with children and run a program for fun and make sure kids feel welcomed. If anything it is turning her off to wanting to act more. Absolutely unacceptable and I would never let my child take part in anything they do ever again.

Then, I stumbled across Dr. Misha, Dr. Krendel and MUSYCA. During the pandemic, I had the added benefit of "monitoring" classes via Zoom and was absolutely astounded at the quality of education and repertoire presented in the most positive, fun ways I've ever witnessed. Because Dr. Misha, who has an incredibly extensive resume, teaches the students, they are exposed to the best immediately. Technique and musicianship are bundled up in so much singing, fun and respect! The music is ever-flowing and Dr. Misha is a wizard educator. These kids are getting such a high-quality foundation, it's an absolute no-brainer for us. Needless to say, we have continued through in person classes and there's not a kid that walks out of choir that isn't smiling. The executive director and virtuoso pianist, Dr. Krendel, does an outstanding job of finding extra, non-required live performance and recording studio opportunities for the kids (including performances on PBS, at the Kia Forum, sessions for UNICEF and much more) in addition to the outstanding winter and spring programs for the community. As the choirs are divided by age, there is plenty of room for social emotional and musical growth. Many friends will be made! Truly a home away from home. It is a private choir, and the value and investment in the students out-ways the cost. They do have scholarships. MUSYCA has already become and will continue to be one of the best investments in my child's education and growth as well as one of the best sources of amazing memories for our family.

I asked him to send it countless times, and was promised he would in the next few days and he never did. I finally gave up on the last week, since it was too late anyway. When he showed up at to my wedding all he did was play for the first 15 minutes as guests came in. During my first dance he was no where to be found, I was so confused as my husband and I were dancing. We talked about the first dance during a meeting face to face and discussed how it would all happen. He said how beautiful it was going to be and not to worry countless times. To top it off, he invited two of his friends to my wedding without telling me. He basically came to party with his friends, got paid and left. I paid him only because the last thing I was going to do that day was let myself get upset and argue On the most important day of my life. I don't care about the money, but he is just not trust worthy or professional at all. Sadly, I would not hire him again.

My daughter has been dancing at Carousel for nearly five years, and our experience has been nothing…read morebut positive. Some of the negative reviews, particularly those with one or two stars, appear to come from individuals with personal grievances or exaggerated complaints. They simply don't reflect the reality we've experienced. Carousel is a disciplined and focused studio that offers serious dance training. This is not a recreational center or casual after-school program--it's a place for students who are committed to developing their craft. The instruction is exceptional, with a strong emphasis on proper technique that, in my opinion, is unmatched in this area. Importantly, the environment is also healthy and supportive. In the five years we've been at the studio, I've never once heard a teacher make a negative comment about a dancer's body or weight. On the contrary, Natalie teaches dancers how to fuel their bodies properly for training and often encourages healthier choices--like skipping sugary snacks or drinks--purely from a nutritional standpoint, not as criticism. It's always been about education, not shame. She IS tough but also loving and the kids idolize her and want to impress her. In fact most of the teachers are firm but nurturing. They genuinely care about each student and push them to be their best. My daughter was not on the company her first year, but she was always treated with respect and never made to feel less than others. Now that she is on the company, she is held to higher standards and expected to set an example for younger dancers, which we fully support. Unlike many studios, Carousel has very little of the typical "dance mom" drama. The families here are supportive, and the dancers are inclusive and kind. My daughter has built friendships both on and off company, and there's a real sense of community. At recitals, dancers who are not on the company are still given opportunities to shine. I recently attended the recital, and I saw numerous non-company dancers featured in solos and highlighted performances, directly contradicting the claims that only company members are showcased. Before finding Carousel, we briefly attended Dance Dimensions. Despite attending for two weeks, my then 10-year-old daughter was never included or welcomed by the other dancers. In contrast, on her first day at Carousel, several girls immediately invited her to join them and made her feel at home. This studio isn't the right fit for every dancer--but that's part of its strength. Carousel values dedication, work ethic, and respect. Students who embrace those values will thrive. Karen and Natalie, the directors, are passionate about what they do and committed to developing strong, technically proficient dancers. They prioritize quality over quantity and are not interested in simply filling spots. THIS IS KEY. If your kid works hard, makes dance a priority, has a good attitude and is kind.... and YOU are not difficult.... your child will do wonderfully here. Additionally, Carousel is extremely mindful of cost. Compared to other studios in the area, it is significantly more affordable. Claims that it's "all about the money" are completely unfounded in my experience. They actively look for ways to reduce financial strain on families--recycling costumes, keeping competitions local, and organizing fundraisers. I've consistently found that they do everything they can to help families manage expenses. I never feel pressured to buy anything I don't want. I appreciate the drop in classes for younger kids so that if we skip I am not throwing away money. Lastly, my younger child takes recreational classes at Carousel and absolutely loves it. The teachers are kind, patient, and age-appropriate, and I've never witnessed any harshness or negativity toward younger dancers. In short, if you're seeking a studio that offers exceptional dance training in a respectful, supportive, and disciplined environment, I wholeheartedly recommend Carousel. It's been a wonderful experience for both of my children and our entire family. Be on time, be dressed appropriately and come with a good attitude and work ethic and your kid will be fine.
