Cheers to a Beautiful Mess! What an amazing, cute, and little backyard brewery! Starving Artist is an amazing little brewery in Ludington and I'm so happy I found it. A great spot to get a nice craft beer and in a great atmosphere! The owner is probably the friendliest guy I ever met and takes his time with each person he serves! If you're in the area definitely look this place up!

We have been wanting to stop at this brewery for quite some time. Located in a rural area, Starving Artist Brewing is located in a small barn behind the owners house. We ended up splitting a flight of 5 beers. WOW!!!!! We were so excited to try the unique beer options. My favorite was the Coconut Beer and he enjoyed the Dark Cherry Red. We really liked all of them and can't wait to come back and try some of their new releases. They also participate in the Tagabrews.

3 strangers I ran into that swear they're part of my family ;-)

Ok, TLB is brewery #263 for me. This was my second brewery for today before heading off to my hotel…read moreand it was definitely a great stop. I always try to review a brewery based on beers alone but sometimes it's hard. Sometimes I stop in and the vibe is just not good, or the service sucks, but neither was the case here. Great vibe, friendly staff and patrons. And as I will get to in a moment, the beer was great too. This is a small brewery with a one barrel system and a small tasting room. It's size belies it's impact though. The beers were really good, although I will not review them in depth individually. Sorry but I ended up chatting with Jameson, the owner, as well as a couple of patrons at the bar. The beer highlights for me were the blueberry and the barrel aged red. SWPFTD would enjoy the barrel aged red. In fact it might have made her PD if you know what I mean. You probably don't but if you don't take the time to figure it out you never will. Your loss... Of course your loss could be your time in figuring it out. This is going to be a short but enthusiastic review. I would definitely recommend stopping in at Third Life Brewing if you are in the area. Of course it would be really hard to stop in if you aren't in the area. In fact I'm hoping to stop in again since I missed picking up a TLB sticker for my RV fridge which is covered in brewery stickers. Maybe Jameson will read this and reach out to offer up a sticker. (Awesome name by the way...) If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you! I hope my confidence is not misplaced.

After we saw that we figured out where it came from and knew we had to go. We walked in, there was a band but we soon found a spot away from it. Then we walked up to the counter. My dad ordered a dozen wings. Turns out that was the best decision ever. Besides him trying to pay with a million dollar bill that we had found. Although the employee thought it was funny. (We paid with real cash, don't worry) Then almost immediately we got our food. Like ridiculously fast. We didn't even have time to go to the counter before it buzzed. Then we walked over to our spot with the view of the bumper boats and golf course and tried frickn chicken wings. They were the best things on earth. I love frickn chicken wings from the Frickn Chicken Shack. It's my new favorite resturant. Frickn Chicken is the best thing ever. It's juicy, cooked just right and just amazing in general. So good that I would buy 100 wings and eat them in a single sitting. Thank you frickn chicken shack for existing. Frickin chicken is frickn awesome.

They were juicy and meaty with great flavor. No sauces needed but added a little to try it out. Drinks are cheap and don't forget, in Michigan you can bartend at 17 years old. It took us off guard ordering from the bar. Nice, open seating with roll up doors to keep the breezes flowing throughout. Definitely a stop if you are at the dunes!

Today we visited and it was awful. It is so sad to see that this restaurant has completely went down hill. Things started off fine. We were greeted at the door and seated right away. We then waited 50 minutes for our food to come out. Our appetizers came out quickly because they were just deep fried apps, but our entrees took 50 minutes. Our appetizers didn't taste right like the oil was old or something. The onions rings did not look appetizing, a darker color to them from the oil? My friend has the fish and chips and said the fish had good flavor but it was chewy and soggy. My other friend had the fettuccine Alfredo and didn't even eat it. We all tried it and it didn't taste like Alfredo. It had tomatoes in it too. My other friend had the salmon and rice pilaf and thought it was good. I had the cowboy burger. It was a really good burger, the patty was on the thinner side and it definitely wasn't cooked all the way as shown in picture. I appreciated that they used real bacon and not microwave cheap bacon. The bun was a little small for the burger but it was packed with onion rings, bacon and bbq sauce. Again, the onion rings weren't great. The manager/our waitress Mandy was kind and attentive. She asked why I didn't want a box for my burger, and I just said it wasn't really cooked all the way. Then she shared about how things have been rough there and she is hoping to turn it around with being recently hired. She shared how the chef "has no clue what he is doing." Whoever owns Timbers is going to have to close their doors because no one is going to visit a restaurant that is not enjoyable. It was a Saturday night at 5-6pm and there were only 4 tables with people dining. That is a big red flag if your business only has 4 tables on a Saturday. The atmosphere is great, they have an upstairs and a small deck out back, and it is just so sad it is going to waste. There is free street parking and a small parking lot next to the restaurant. Overall I hope this place can turn around.

We were sat quickly; the server was very friendly and got us started right away. From that point unfortunately things kind of fell apart. The food, while delicious, came out in waves and the people that got their food first started eating were finished by the time the last people got theirs almost 30 minutes later. The staff were great with comping some of it but it was just a depressing experience overall.
