They have a small but excellent meat department. I noticed that they have very reasonable prices and the lamb is especially affordable compared to other markets. They have a vast array of what are exotic groceries compared to other markets. I love to just peruse the isles when I'm there. I wish they had cooking classes. It would be interesting to learn how to use ingredients I'm not familiar with. I highly suggest a visit. You won't be disappointed.

I keep reading about how brown sauce is a staple on every table in the UK. HP Sauce is the main brand. I stopped in on afternoon Saturday the 7th. First impression was similar to the Asia market on White Lane, maybe less cluttered, more like a small supermarket. Walking the isles I didn't see it. To make sure I asked a stock clerk. He was friendly, hadn't heard of HP Sauce but walked me to where it might be. No luck. I didn't want to leave empty handed so brought an apple soda in a clear plastic can shaped like an aluminum can up to the register. I guess they took those earlier negative reviews to heart. The cashier, a man in his 40s or 50s, was so friendly. Joking with me in a dad joke way then gifting me a little morsel on my way out. I'm sure no one else gets treats, I was wearing my cervical collar, pretty sad looking. They have a lot of different foods there. Great produce. Just don't count on finding much British food.

While I don't do my regular Asian grocery shopping here, it has definitely saved me on more than one occasion when I've needed a specialty ingredient in a pinch. The biggest downside for me is the pricing. Compared to the markets I shop at in Koreatown when I'm in Los Angeles, many items here are significantly more expensive. Because of that, I usually stock up during my trips to LA and only stop by when I need something quickly and don't want to wait. On my most recent visit, it was nice to see that they had received a healthy shipment of fresh vegetables. I was able to pick up ingredients for making kimchi, and I also found milk buns, which was a pleasant surprise.

There are no Portuguese bakeries where I live…read more The first time I visited on my way north, I honestly chose it because of it's proximity to the 99. I didn't get to the bakery until late mid morning and most everything was gone, with 2nd batches in the oven. I bought a couple of rounds of sweet bread, and the sweet bread here is amazing. It's just like my late grandmother's recipe. On my second visit, I ordered a mista sandwich and a couple of pastel de natas (and more sweet bread). The sandwich and tarts were divine! I was so happy that I stopped by again. I don't drive up north as much these days, but this bakery is a 45 min drive, and I plan on going again soon.
