Such a great grocery store. Produce prices are incredible and there is an excellent selection of middle eastern foods. Turkish coffee for half the price as Walmart for the big brand. They also have quail eggs and local yogurt and so much more. A giant, full service deli is also available. You can't go wrong. I spent $65 and am in shock. These are 2014 prices. This is a lovely Ethnic market. They have a small but Beautiful produce section that carries many of the ordinary items but they have some lovely unique vegetables you won't find anywhere else in Bakersfield. You can get a quick meal to go, which I haven't done yet but am looking forward to. The aromas are Devine. The staff has always been friendly and helpful to me. They have a small but excellent meat department. I noticed that they have very reasonable prices and the lamb is especially affordable compared to other markets. They have a vast array of what are exotic groceries compared to other markets. I love to just peruse the isles when I'm there. I wish they had cooking classes. It would be interesting to learn how to use ingredients I'm not familiar with. I highly suggest a visit. You won't be disappointed. read more

I arrived to the market and I wasn't going to make this review, but there was a really nice guy in the bakery area. I made my experience a little nicer. I didn't have any bad experiences before, but I could see by some reviews. Maybe others did and I wanted to just come here to say that everybody was really nice and friendly. When my spinach pie was done, he came out to find me instead of just leaving it on the counter which made my trip to blue fig a little quicker. I noticed that they sell the brand of bread that I love so I asked the cashier on what days they bring it in and into my surprise they bring it in three days out of the week, which is good keeps it nice and fresh. She did tell me that they make their own bread in house. Fresh daily. But I'm partial to this type of sourdough. I will probably try their bread next time. read more

Stopped in for a quick mid-day coffee. After noticing their sign I had to go with the Ramadan Kareem (And I'm glad I did) Very nice and creamy mix, and great flavor. The staff is always very friendly and eager to serve. I've been hearing lots of things about this international grocery store so it's been on my radar for months. I wanted to get my kids some of those fruit ice cream bars so I decided to stop in. My first impression is that it's smaller than I thought it would be but it's very clean. I perused the bakery and coffee bar areas and then went to find the ice creams. I got some of the fried chicken ones and decided to try the peach ones as well. The ice creams are expensive at $7.99 each and the 3 pack of the peach ones was $19.99. That's about $55! After purchasing the ice creams, I then went back to the bakery deciding to grab some baklava for the hubs since it's his fave. However, when I approached the window and gave a chipper "Hello there!" To the lady behind the counter, she barely spoke to me and didn't even glance in my direction. I decided not to get anything from the bakery and I probably won't even go back. read more

We only came in here because we needed to use the restroom and the boba shop down the way didn't have one. The bathrooms were gross, however most people probably are t popping in to use them lol Of course I had to get something, and the bakery counter did not disappoint . They have a large variety of delicious pastries at reasonable prices. They also have Turkish coffee that it looks like they make with the hot sand, but we were getting drinks already so we didn't try it. The staff is very nice and will answer any questions you have. They carry really unique Mediterranean, middle eastern, and hard to get international items. They have an amazing smoothie bar and coffee bar including a Turkish Coffee that's heated on sand in front of you. They have a really yummy flatbread "pizza", made to order (lots of options) and some of the best baklava, lots of things made with kataifi (including pistachio cream filled items and Dubai chocolate) my favorite desserts are the little "birds nest". Also some really good cookies especially to enjoy with teas and coffee. All of them are made onsite. You can make your own almond paste too (see the pics)! Went there to grab some groceries and discovered a small coffee shop tucked away in the corner. Despite having just had a coffee, the menu was too interesting to resist. The barista was super kind and helpful answering all our questions - we ended up ordering the Suhoor (a tahini paste latte) and the Kunafa (aptly named) latte. Our first time here trying their coffee and pastries and overall everything was good! We got the Take a Flight and Suhoor lattes. I believe they switch up their coffee menu and offer different specialty lattes. Both were good and had a unique taste, definitely not your typical caramel or vanilla lattes and weren't very sweet so keep that in mind. There was about a 10-15 minute wait for our drinks, so we just looked around the store. I was a huge fan of all the pastries we tried especially the chocolate pistachio baklava. I went to Blue Fig farms because the internet thought they might have British food. I guessed that ingredients for Indian cookery is what they specialize in so there could be cross overs. I keep reading about how brown sauce is a staple on every table in the UK. HP Sauce is the main brand. I stopped in on afternoon Saturday the 7th. First impression was similar to the Asia market on White Lane, maybe less cluttered, more like a small supermarket. Walking the isles I didn't see it. To make sure I asked a stock clerk. He was friendly, hadn't heard of HP Sauce but walked me to where it might be. No luck. I didn't want to leave empty handed so brought an apple soda in a clear plastic can shaped like an aluminum can up to the register. I guess they took those earlier negative reviews to heart. The cashier, a man in his 40s or 50s, was so friendly. Joking with me in a dad joke way then gifting me a little morsel on my way out. I'm sure no one else gets treats, I was wearing my cervical collar, pretty sad looking. They have a lot of different foods there. Great produce. I have been here several times, and I have always received super great service. I go with the intention of just buying the Turkish coffee but I always end up getting other items as well. It is a Middle Eastern grocery store but I was pleasantly surprised to see Mexican products being sold there as well. There is a friendly employee who greets me at the door when I first walk in. The atmosphere throughout the store is happy and mellow, which makes it a very easy shopping experience especially if it's your first time. Reviewers calling this store a hidden gem clearly haven't seen many real gems. Considering flatbread, nuts, and seeds are core Mediterranean staples, the extremely limited selection was shocking. Not a single flatbread package shows a use-by, best-buy, or packed-on date. Supposedly, I should take their word and assume it's fresh. In addition, many of the flatbread packages don't even list a single ingredient used to make them, which is unusual in today's world of transparency. The section where coffee is served and manakeesh are baked attracts the most customers. But the area is very confined and uncomfortable due to poor spacing by the owners. I ordered a manakeesh topped with za'atar. Good taste, but overly salted and before I even reached my vehicle, a good amount of oil had seeped through the bottom of their flimsy container. They are a gem if you are looking for unique groceries and new experiences. We went in to check out the flatbread and dessert they make in house, but we ended up leaving there with many cool sauces and condiments to experiment at home with. The staffs were very friendly and things are organized well. They do not display price on all items sold in store, and I found out they charge an arm and a leg for those unique candy bars sold at the cashier - a dubai chocolate bar was $24 there, which I found online for $14. A Lebanese-American colleague recommended this ethnic store to me a few months ago. I told him I'd give it a glance. In hindsight, I should have "glanced" a long time ago! Immaculately clean, well-organized, and offering a variety of Mediterranean and South and Central Asian products, this establishment also boasts of a bakery, Halal butchery and coffee shop.
