UPDATE: The Operations Manager (Tommy) at State Roofing contacted me yesterday to resolve the roof leak issue. I paid $26,000 for installation of a new roof from State Roofing in June 2023. Two years later my roof is leaking! This past December 2025 the roof began leaking in the upstairs bathroom. As the pictures/videos show, the source of the leak is the bathroom exhaust fan. State Roofing sent a worker who nailed down a brown tarp over the exhaust fan cap on the roof. About 4 hours later the leak stopped ... but the damage was done. The bathroom ceiling has been compromised & will need to be replaced. I would imagine mold will also be a problem in the attic (no attic access). The solution would be simple, replace &/or recalk the exhaust fan cap. One worker, 3 hours at most, problem solved, happy customer (who paid you $26,000!!!). Instead, I received a "job proposal" from Paul Jordison of State Roofing to replace the 4" brown flapper & pay another $827.63. This "flapper" costs about $35 at Home Depot. I paid them $26,000 for a new roof that started leaking after 2 years AND they want me to pay to fix their leak. There are many roofing companies that would stand by their work. Mistakes happen, maybe a new worker, who knows ... but to take $26,000 from a customer & then ask them to pay another $800 to fix a leak that is the fault of State Roofing? Incredible, I do not recommend State Roofing at all. Lastly, if State Roofing reads this review & contacts me to repair the leak, at zero cost to me, I will amend this review accordingly. read more

If you want quality workmanship, great communication and exceptional customer service, then hire this company! We contracted State Roofing to rebuild our back deck. The bidding process started with Jason who showed his technical expertise in building decks. Then he brought in Paul Nelson, the engineer that was the mastermind behind designing and building the beautiful deck and dealing with all of the issues along the way. State Roofing came in with a competitive price (not the lowest but worth every penny). They handled the complicated permitting process with the city. There were no extra fees and no surprises because even when the design didn't go exactly has planned Paul always came up with a solution and never up charged for any changes. Jason and Paul were easy to work with, communicated timely and finished the job. I would highly recommend them. read more

Im very happy I chose State Roofing to completly redo my aging roof in March 2023. Their represetative took the time to explain the roofing process and materials and gave me a few choices of quality, price, durablity, etc. They knew the specifics a roof requires in order to last long and protect my home from the PNW range of climate stresses such as rain, ice, wind and heat. I was very pleased with the quick scheduling and the thorough work they did. Fortunely they found that a few of the roof panals had black mold and they replaced those with fresh roof panals. The finished roof is beautiful with shingle colors that match the home perfectly. State Roofing provided a "CertainTeed 25 Year Shingle Manufacturer Covered Workmanship" warrenty that really gives me comfort knowing my roof will not be something i will have to worry about in the distant future. I am even more pleased when recently in Nov 2025 I was having some insulation put in (by another construction company) in my attic and while the electrician was up there he was accidently punched completly through my roof with one of his tools. I was worried about the State Roofing warrenty now that another company had compromised the integrity of my roof! Paul Jordison from State Roofing came to assess and then sent James Olson to repair the hole, replacing the shingles and resealing and my roof is back to new again!! My 25 yr warrenty is still intact with State Roofing! I am pleased with State Roofing for the new roof they built on my home in 2023 and am doubly pleased with the repair work and the support they provided recently when a repair was needed in 2025!! I would give them a 0 if I could. I have been in this industry for 20 years and this is the worst experience I have ever had. I bought a new house (roof just installed by State Roofing) less than 4 years later we need a new roof due to faulty installation (Multiple vendors came out and they all informed us that the roof was installed improperly causing the damage.). At this time State Roofing won't even answer my calls. They are not standing behind their work. Very disappointed. Keep in mind when they say that the warranty is transferable, they mean you need to complete paperwork within 30 days of the purchase transfer. On top of that if you lose that documentation, they will not assist you with it. Even the cheapest roofs should have a basic 10 year warranty. We should not need to replace after 4 years with added damage to the rest of our home. read more

I had State Roofing come out for an estimate to re-roof my garage. The garage is a detached two car garage with asphalt shingles. The estimate was $14,000.00. I could not believe how expensive this was. I found a local independent contractor to give me a bid and he said I could actually go over my existing roof without removing the old one. He measured for me, I went up to Stoneway roofing, (who is fantastic to work with by the way) picked out my color, all in product was $1350.00. The installer came with one helper did the job in 8 hours for $1200.00. I have a brand new roof for $2,550 ! State roofing never presented this as an option, there pricing was ridiculously high. State Roofing does decks too? I did not know that until I noticed one of their mailers which listed decking as one of their service offerings. So, I reached out to them (as well as 4 other deck contractors based on high Yelp reviews for my area). All 5 deck companies called or emailed back immediately: * One turned me down based on their busy schedule; * One said they didn't service my area (south Everett); * One wanted $100 to come out and look at the project; * One never followed up after an initial email exchange; * State Roofing came out within 2 days to look at the project State Roofing sent out an estimator (Kerry) who must have spent close to 2 hrs at our home taking measurements and showing us samples of all the different decking options available for composite decks as well as showing us numerous pictures of their work. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional and made sure we understood all the various options. We ultimately chose State Roofing because of how crisp and professional their response was, as well as their attentiveness and interest in earning our business. Even though they were very busy (as are most decking contractors in the summer months) they were able to squeeze us in as long as we could be a bit flexible in our timing - which we were. Next step: they sent out their main decking foreman (Paul) to verify the sales guy's measurements and create the specific blueprint for the laborers. Again, I found their staff very knowledgeable and professional. This piece of the process was also smooth and informative as Paul answered lots of questions and took his time with us to ensure we were all in alignment. Final step: a few weeks later, State Roofing called to say they were ready to begin. We established a start date and two of their craftsmen arrived (Nikolai and his son) to begin the project - tearing off the old deck boards and prepping for our new Azek composite decking. They left the worksite spotless each day and were wonderful guys to work with. Their craftsmanship was excellent (see pics) and they worked hard (and fast). Bottom line: I was very happy with State Roofing. I have no complaints and I would not hesitate to recommend them (or use them again). Bigger is not always better, but these folks have their processes "down to a T" and offer great financing options as well. They instilled confidence in each step of the process. I would not recommend this company to anyone. HORRIBLE. Overpriced (your thought is that you paying for a quality product- NOPE) and substandard install. How the BBB gives them a A+ is beyond me. My roof was installed in January 2018. First leak showed up in 2022. Luckily no interior damage on this leak. Second leak showed up in December 2024. Damage to interior kitchen ceiling. They not responsible for repair. I could go on and on about what was found in my attic when trying to find this last leak but you need to see the pictures to believe. I so agree with Sophia's, Edie's and Pete's review. This company does not care about anything but it's bottom line and I would think twice before hiring them to install a new roof on your house. Yelp. State Roofing. Monroe Washington Long overdue review. State roofing was recommended by a friend who previously worked sales for a different roofing company. Overall I was very pleased with the experience. Ray Petersen and his crew did a terrific job. I was blown away at how quickly they completed the job (about five days including mobilization and delivery of materials and portable toilet, some moderately extensive sheeting rot repair and follow up (see below). I do not think my job was super simple. They removed a small parapet (about three inches deep) which formed an intergral gutter, and replaced this with new standard gutters and downspouts which they installed. There was also an odd feature of my house to deal with where part of the eaves roofing had been removed to the rafter tails and fascia to allow light to reach a bay window. This required a built up "cricket feature" with torch down material, in order to get the water to drain properly. They did a terrific job with this. The real kicker also related to this "eave skylight" feature. The exposed fir rafter tails had rotted over probably fiteen years since it was created. I have since replaced these with cedar 2X6 and painted them. I asked if State they had the ability to form some custom aluminum cap material that I could use to cover the top edges of these boards with. They did a beatuful jof custom forming about 40 liner feet of aluminum cap, matching the gutter colors, and delivering it to the site. An add on that Ray refused to accept payment for! In one word, wow. We had one minor issue where a new down spout interfered with operation of a fence gate. It took about three days to schedule someone to come out and fix satisfactorily. Start to finish maybe eight days. I highly recommend this contractor and would take a critical look at the one star reviews on this site before drawing a negative conclusion. My advice as a commercial landlord is to consider, and this is not a criticism of State roofing, taking long term roof warranties with a large grain of salt. Most are void if routine maintenance is not performed by the contractor and documented by the owner. It's just the nature of the beast. Just as negative reviews are, IMO, common here on Yelp. read more

We do not recommend having your roof installed by State Roofing. Our roof is holding up well, except for one of the skylights. After developing a leak we reached out for a warranty repair. First we were told that unless we had an actual of the warranty, they wouldn't do anything. Don't they keep a copy on file? We finally found a scanned copy and were told we would hear from someone in a week or two, after two weeks called, they'd get back to us by the end of the week. It's been over a month, and still nothing. Not much of a warranty if we can't even get someone out to put a temporary cover over the skylight. read more

I contracted with State Roofing to do a tear off and re-roof with their EuroShake 50-year roofing. The ridge shingles were not installed correctly over skip sheathing and I developed a bat infestation problem. I made a workmanship claim and they told me to go pound sand, so I had to hire another contractor to remove, bat proof, and then reinstall the ridge shingles at a cost of several thousand dollars (including humane removal of all the bats). I'm pleased with the roofing material itself, just not the workmanship. read more

Jeri, one of the "owners" has promised me on several occasions to get back to me and take care of things and then drops the ball and doesn't reply. State Roofing has gotten to big for their britches and can't keep up with what they have and Jeri is not to be trusted. More than once she has promised followup and hasn't actually met her own promises. If the owners can't do what they say. How can you expect the staff to act? Shame on you Jeri! I also noticed that all the reviews on the company website are 5 stars, and that's because they are on the company's website but look on Google and other independent review platforms.. much different.. They charge 3x more than anyone else and can't even follow up on promises and communication. Yea, gutters repaired and appear to be functioning as advertised. Improving even more, crew from State Roofing is on sight and effecting repair as I type. Well things are getting better. Received a call from Tom from State Roofing and was told my issue would be fixed by Friday. More to come :) Roof and gutters installed last summer with an alleged LIFETIME Warranty. Installation is peeling off roof and when I call the company they are telling me "it on me". They are not going to cover their workmanship. Should have believed the other negative reviews. We have used State Roofing in the past for a full roof replacement and gutters about 10 years ago, then 2 years ago for a vent placement. The work they did on those 2 occasions was fantastic. We had them out a couple of months ago to replace a gutter and downspout. We chose them because our roof warrantee is tied to their servicing the roof. What a difference a couple of years makes, and not in a good way. We were told that they would call before coming out for the initial site visit. Nope. Two guys just show up. They told us they could do the job. Another crew randomly shows up (not the first guys) to take measurements. Why didn't the first people take a measurement? Talked with our regional scheduler for bid and timing: "yes, we'll call you before coming out - we always do!" The bid included 2 guys at 8 hours for install - we're talking 43 feet of gutter on a Rambler. When I questioned the pricing I was told that the crew would have considerable prep work in the shop, and I was being charged for travel time from Monroe to Sammamish. Worried about transferring the warrantee when we sell the house, I agreed to the price. Told it would be 4 weeks. Fast forward to 6 weeks: No call to explain the delay or to schedule. I call to find out the issue. "Yes, we'll call you when we're coming out." Two guys show up (yet a third group) randomly to replace the gutter. There was no prep work required - the gutter was formed on site. Start to finish took 2 guys 2 hours! Yes, 2 hours. Even with commute time, labor should never have gone beyond 4 hours. The only reason it took 2 hours was one of the guys stayed behind and cleaned our driveway (for no reason.) I don't know if the owner is aware of how his/her people are bidding and failing to communicate, or just doesn't care. Warrantee be damned. Any future services will be done with another company. read more

State Roofing had the earliest availability for an estimate, and Greg (our estimator) was punctual and professional. Greg was transparent and thorough, and arrived fully prepared to address our schedule concerns. State Roofing managed communication very effectively. We were very impressed with how all of the people involved in our project knew what was going on, and kept our concerns in mind. John, the project foreman, was very communicative and was not only responsive, but also took initiative to confirm important details with us and communicate with neighbors to manage parking. When the inevitable minor mishaps happened (accidental ripped window screen, etc) John made sure to make it right, and we appreciate that. State Roofing was one of the three companies we called for a bid estimate to replace our roof. Their bid was excessive, comparrd to the other two and were not going to do as much work as the roofer we chose. The sales rep, instead of telling me why they were the best company to replace my roof instead told me all of his perceived "evils" of his competition. When in doubt, bad mouth the competition. State may do decent work, as some reviews state but they also advertise excessively, in this consumer's opinion. Hence, their bids being high. Also, 10 to 12 weeks before work could start was out of the question. read more

So far not impressed! Currently they are "working" on our roof. Day one: crew showed up and took them all day to remove 1 layer of our roof that was misleadingly sold to us by a salesman who said it was best to tear off so new roof wouldn't "ripple." Our back patio cooking equipment was put into the back yard wherever they pleased. Our items were no longer covered by our patio covers. Day 2: Woke up Saturday to 3 flat tires. We were parked on the street so their trucks could park in our Large driveway. We pulled our cars into driveway Friday when they left. Had NO CLUE there would be a driveway full of nails and leftover trash! Sunday: Xmas party cancelled due to stress from mess in yard and nails in driveway. We spent over an hour collecting nails. Tuesday: Delivery driver shows up. INSISTS he can't pull crane truck into driveway .... it was possible. Instead he decided to attempt to back up in our front yard while tires were spinning out. After 4 attempts the yard is now sunken in and muddy! Came back home and found ONE person working on the roof until 8:10pm. Wednesday : workers are now parking in the middle of my front yard...plenty of room in driveway. The area is NOT clean when they leave. Our patio equipment is still in the yard and the winds are above 18mph at the moment. Our front yard has an empty pallet, supplies in front bushes over Xmas lights and now we hear stuff flying off of the roof. NOT IMPRESSED and the dollar amount is $28,000.00 Total Rip off! read more

Most roof replacement services are done in 3 to 4 days... My experience dragged out 4 months. We went with State Roofing because we wanted quality. We were willing to pay more for a higher quality job. State Roofing is not the cheapest roofing company out there. We had many assurances that their roofers were all trained professionals. They seemed anything but professional. I felt like we got day workers to replace our roof. There was a bunch of damage done by the crew. Smashed gutter, broke fence, damage to shakes and fascia boards. The clean-up was poor. Lack of cleaning up nails in the driveway is inexcusable. State Roofing didn't get a 1 star because they did fix the damage and reduced the price. The price reduction just put them in the same price range as other roofing companies in my area. I would have been better off paying the same rate AND getting better service elsewhere. read more

In 2002, State Roofing replaced my shake roof with a metal roof. Through the years we had leakage where the old roofline met a new addition where the ceiling height went from 8' to 12'. Today, David attacked the problem but again. His determination, caring personality, knowledge and diligence paid off well. He found two places where water was getting through. Tested both times to make sure that his fix worked. I love my metal roof. It is well worth the expense and more important, I love State Roofing. Choose them for your next roof. Not the cheapest but certainly a good value. They removed all of the old rotted deck and installed extra supports to ensure the new composite deck was correctly constructed. I just spoke with State Roofing to try to get an estimate and was NOT impressed.. We live in Mill Creek and have an HOA that has a list of approved materials. It includes all the big makers of asphalt shingle roofing, which is what we will be switching to from our current cedar shake roof. Turns out they only install one kind of approved roofs, their Euro Shake or Tile products. The guy I spoke with on the phone went on about how their product is "far superior" to any of the asphalt shingle products I mentioned and asked it we intended to stay in our home, implying that the heavy-duty 50 year warranty products (e.g., Certainteed and Pabco) we're looking at were cheap pieces of junk that he wouldn't put on a home we intended to keep. From sales to front office to tear down to installation, each team of State Roofing is professional, knowledgeable & great to work with. We originally were requesting a bid on a composition roof, but ended up going with a metal roof. We love it! It was a little more expensive than composition, but the thought of NEVER having to re-do our roof again absolutely makes the cost difference worth it. I was quite impressed that the owner Brian, took the time to personally phone us to answer our concerns about the impact of a large walnut tree that overhangs the new roof. Do not use State Roofing!!!!! We had a premium metal roof put on our house and State offered a life time warranty. The roof leaked on many occasions and we called State. They came out and said they fixed the problem only to have the roof start leaking again. The last time they were out they started acting shady by conducting an investigation. They came out and took samples of the roof in an attempt to say it leaked because of humidity and therefore their warranty was not valid. My guess is that they have done this to others to get out of their warranty. Do not do business with them? I am know have to hire an attorney and a roofing expert to get things worked out. read more

When we decided to keep our house for another 30 years or as long as we last I wanted the best solar panels and the best roof to put them on State Roofing was recommended buy several solar panel installers They assured me they could install in the middle of the winter and keep my house Dry and they did. They went above and beyond by working with me to install new bathroom fans and remove an old ventilation system from the attic. The job went quickly and smoothly without a hitch. The roof has performed fabulously and it looks great yet also sheds the needles from the biggest tree in the neighborhood. Great experience. Sales guy (John) was in the loop the whole time and always easy to get hold off. We worked with two crews (tear down and roof installation). Everyone was fantastic. Crews put in long hours in some horrible weather to get everything finished on time. House was kept clean the entire time and they even weeded our garden beds!!!!! The product is great and seeing the attention to detail and effort that all the staff put in you know that you have a good roof that is going to stand the test of time. Final bill came in within $300 on the quoted price. Pretty amazing when you take into account the facia and plywood they replaced when tearing down the old roof. Strong recommend! read more

We hired this company to build us a new deck behind our house. They did a very nice job and finished in 3 days time. Our deck was built with that 25 year guaranteed composite. Our deck is 28 feet by 19 feet. They do cost more than some companies, but they're licensed and bonded. read more

We got several bids and felt that State Roofing's was the best in terms of their help with design, materials, timing, cost, etc. They squeezed us in quickly and did a fantastic job. We absolutely love our deck and used it all summer and fall! The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is because there was a delay in the project due to the railing not being ready in time, I believe that piece was contracted out to another company by State Roofing but did still impact our ability to use the deck. Overall though we are super happy with the service and the outcome of the deck! read more

In September, 2020, we contacted State Roofing, based primarily on word-of-mouth recommendations. We signed a contract on September 28th, and were told it would be five to seven weeks before our roof was installed. We paid a five figure down payment on a very high price, but wanted to get the very best roof we could. We are now at the start of the sixth month. Our old roof was torn off, and an underlayment installed, and the job came to a screeching halt. We have gone through most of the winter without a real roof. Getting information from State Roofing is like pulling teeth; they never offer, you have to ask. On last contact, which I initiated, the "job manager" seemed to be surprised that their supplier had not delivered our shingles, and that the job was not complete. They may do good work, when they do it, but I'd say: Go someplace else. read more

We were trying to decide whether to build an addition or just remodel our existing house. We ask for two bids. 1. Existing house only. 2. Including the Addition. We explained this over the phone when setting up the appointment and again in person. Met with the sales rep and he seemed nice, (but did down talk any product from other companies as someone else noted in another review). He said he would have the bids for me the next day. The next morning, I wanted to confirm some information and ask some questions * What type of Underlayment will be used (type and brand if synthetic) * How do you prevent water leakage through the membrane - are you using Rubberized Cap Nails? * Will you use Kick Out step lashing at the sidewalls near the gutters * How many squares are you estimating? * We want at least 4 Permanent roof anchors left (two on existing and two on addition) * Cut Badge Boards back to roof joists (currently they are damaged where the water ran down the roof - extend fascia and gutters to the end of Badge Board) - see attached picture His Reply "Sounds like you have a installation methodology that you are comfortable with at this time. I spoke with our production manager and reviewed your scope of work and we have determined that this is not a project that we would be interested in quoting." Sounds more like he doesn't want to work with a customer who wants to know what they are going to do. If we were going to spend $20k+, I think that warrants asking a few questions. I think we avoided a big mistake by working with them. Do not use them. read more
