We had plenty of ideas of our own and after our initial call, Heather designed and sent us a beautiful draft plan *very* quickly with many, many improvements that we would never have thought of. She listened to all our ideas and wishes and was able to get them all to fit. Once we agreed upon the design we placed our 50% deposit and started working with Jessi (who turned out to be an old coworker and high school alum!), who was equally awesome and exactly as detail-oriented and creative as you want a final cabinet designer to be. She took our design from 90% to 100%, including improvements to many areas and solutions to our problems (french door fridge can't open if it's next to a wall, so she suggested a narrow broom cabinet that we LOVE). So many more examples of excellent suggestions, service and communication from the whole team at Spencer Cabinets. OH! I almost forgot that the actual cabinets are VERY high quality and built to very rigorous standards. I used to design and build furniture with tolerances in the 64ths of an inch and these are really, really great cabinets. When you spend a lot of money on something, you really want the end product to be worth it. When it IS and when the entire experience around it is actually enjoyable and fun, then it makes it almost easy to write the check. Go with Spencer, you won't regret it.

A short update - if you read my previous review, you'll see another company did our main home's…read moreroof in 2018... and now it's clear they made a few mistakes along the way. Having had such a great experience with Salvador and crew on our shed and outbuilding re-roofing project, I called them out to fix the chimney flashing work that the other roofer performed. Wesley (who, if I remember correctly, was the foreman on our outbuilding job) came out about a week after I reached out to properly fix the other company's mistake. After seeing the pictures, I am confident we have the right repair up there. Pricing, as usual, was very reasonable and a good value. And, as a side note - the work they did on the outbuildings has held up for three seasons very well. We had a bit of a tricky situation with the larger outbuilding, which required some clever engineering on their part to get water to drain off a gently sloped porch roof. The custom metal work they did for the gutters has worked very well to get water where it needs to go. They are "our" roofers going forward and assuming they are around whenever we need to re-roof or get a repair (which, hopefully... is a long way's off) - they will be my first contact.

Breach of contract - He promised me a "senior citizen discount," which he mentioned several times. A discount would be a reduction in the normal price. Without telling me or asking for my OK, he removed part of the necessary work from the contract. Yes, he reduced the price a very small amount, but removed some of the work that we had agreed upon. After I got mad, he created a new invoice to get this work done. Only, he added on much more money to the new invoice. There was no discount on anything. He lied. 2. No refund of customer deposits - On his computer system you pay "retainer fees" to get an appointment scheduled. He does not inform the customer that it is non-refundable. I paid on April 20, 2026 $284.67 and June 29, 2026 $276.38 for a total of $561.05. He pocketed the money and refused to refund it. 3. Exterior painting - On the second invoice he charged $600 and left 1/3 of the painting undone. I complained, and there was no response. 4. He broke one of my phone jacks, rendering it unusable, and made no offer to fix it.

Andy did our bathroom first and it exceeded all expectations; it really feels like we're stepping into a luxury hotel bathroom every time we use it. A couple months later he took on our kitchen and we knew that it was going to be great, but again, expectations were exceeded. It was a huge project involving knocking a wall down and dealing with very uneven floors, but you'd never know either thing was there previously. Andy is professional, kind, respectful of your space and time, and just all around a really great person to have in your home for stretches of time. We were crazy enough to have this all done with an infant in the home and he (being a family man himself) made it a point to check in to make sure everything would be okay with the baby's schedule. His subcontractors were also great and rarely left a trace that they were there. I highly recommend Wildside Construction!
