Our ride on 07/12/2021 almost ruined our entire trip. We were scared for our lives with the driver of the van that picked up me, my husband, daughter and granddaughter from JFK Airport. It was the worst experience I have ever had, let me explain. He had no idea how to get back to NJ and held his phone in front of his face, not kidding directly. We told him to please put it down we could tell him the directions since we have lived and traveled this way many times, he kept the phone in his face. it was raining and not only did he not put his wipers on, he had a bath towel on the dash covering the defrosters. He kept reaching for a bottle on his left side, I think he was drunk, he was all over the road and at one point he dropped the phone and bent down almost hitting the guard rail. My husband told him to pull over, he refused. I yelled at him to get the phone out of his face and watch the road, he ignored me. We made it to Rt. 15 and he pulls on the right side of a tractor trailer telling me it's 3 lanes, I told him in a few feet it would turn to 2 lanes, so he speeds up in the rain to beat the tractor trailer. Meanwhile he kept taking drinks out of the bottle he was hiding. When we finally got to Hamburg my granddaughter crying, she was afraid and he still had the phone in front of his face. When we almost we arrived the picked up a bottle of Poland Spring Water from the front cup holder, probably to cover his breath. At our house he was telling us he was making a right and we had to tell him our house was left. We made him leave us a the curb, because I was afraid the would hit my daughter's car in the driveway. We told him it was a cul-de-sac and he could go to the end and turn around. He kept stopping to see if he could turn before that. we were in the house before he pulled out. My daughter and granddaughter were supposed to stay over, but they were so upset that they got in their car and went home. I called State Shuttle to tell them of our horrific trip. I was supposed to be talking to a owner. they said there were no other complaints again the driver, as if I was supposed to accept that. She offered me a free trip, I said I didn't want their trip and she said she would sent a voucher anyway, of course she did not. But after the experience from hell, I would have ripped it up anyway. I'm writing this to spare anyone from agony of thinking that the company is acceptable. To top it off the driver was not wearing a mask. I guess it would have made it harder to drink while driving. I would NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. read more

They got me to the airport on time (albeit in a creaky old van with a Christmas tree of warning lights on the dash). Getting back was another story. I phoned them when I landed at Newark at 9:15 am, and after being put on hold 3 times was told that there would be a pickup at 10:15, so I waited at the ground transportation. At 10:25 I asked the (very helpful) ground transportation staff whether they knew when the shuttle was expected, they phoned the company and were told the shuttle would be at 11:15--and denied there was ever a 10:15 pickup (though I and another passenger had both been told it would be 10:15). It got there at almost 11:30, then went to the other terminals, which meant we got into Princeton at about 12:30. I'll be taking the train whenever possible. read more

My family was picked up in an old crappy van, driver said there was over 400K miles on the odometer, every light on the dashboard was lit-up like a Christmas tree. Sowed up almost 45 minutes late and when I called about my late pick up, the people were NASTY! The driver was chatty. When he was not trying to BS with my family, he was busy on his phone. Had to wait on a very busy cash only lane. Driver explained the company will not supply easy pass, that they owed the state of NJ told us to look at NJ.com. There was a computer glitch when I made my reservation and I was alerted on my ride to EWR that I was being charged for a private van and not the shuttle, but my return trip was a shared van. I called the reservation office from my travel destination and after waiting on hold for a while finally got through to someone who said the person I needed to speak was on vacation. I had no hope that my credit card would be adjusted. I forgot about the incident for a week and the day I got my credit card bill I also got a very nice, apologetic note telling me that my card would be refunded the difference. I was shocked, I thought I would have to call and fight with folks. It was nice to see a company that valued repeat customers. I recommend these folks to anyone who asks. read more

Avoid this company at any price!! It just took me almost five hours to get from JFK airport to Princeton. When you book online it looks like you are going to get a direct ride in a shared shuttle from JFK to Princeton. What happens is that they drive you from JFK to Newark airport, and then you need to wait for a second shuttle to come and pick you up. Ok, this could be not that bad if (1) they communicated it in the reservation process and (2) the waiting times were not so ridiculous. The worst part was that once I got to JFK I was informed that I had to wait 90 minutes for the next shuttle, because, according to the person on the phone, there was not another shuttle until that time. The JFK - Newark driver and the agent at the ground transportation center both told me there was another shuttle, but I am not going to speculate whether the person on the phone lied to me or not. It says enough about how this company operates that if they have clients that need to be transported they do not have the right schedule to accomodate their requests, which have already been confirmed during the booking process. read more

These guys were great, on both ends of my trip. My rides were over an hour long, and both times I had great conversations with the drivers. On one end I arrived early since I caught an earlier flight in to NJ, and they were able to get a driver to me in 20 minutes instead of having to wait an hour. On the way back, I went out front 15 minutes early, and my driver pulled up early too, so off we went. The vans were comfortable and clean, and the drivers were great company. You may notice that one of the themes in the one-star reviews is dishonesty--plenty have been lied to by this company's customer service department and I'm just one more among many. I left my wallet and keys in a bag on the shuttle late at night after a wedding. I'm in Philadelphia and don't have a car, so I was unable to pick it up from their office. When I called in the morning, they said they would just overnight ship it to me so it would arrive the next day. I gave them my credit card information and asked, to confirm, "so you'll put this in the mail today and it'll arrive tomorrow?" They said "yes," but it turns out that was just a lie to get me off the phone and out of their hair. I called back the next day and was told it was still sitting at the office. When I asked why it wasn't shipped the day before like they promised, and what time they were going to mail it today, they said they weren't going to mail it today at all--they had to wait yet another day for a certain supervisor to come in so she could place it in the mail herself. No one else was authorized to do it, and despite my pleas that my entire identity (debit/credit cards, ID, insurance cards, EVERYTHING) was in there and I can't even work without it, they absolutely refused to put it in the mail EVEN THOUGH I HAD ALREADY PAID THEM THE DAY BEFORE FOR OVERNIGHT SHIPPING AND THEY PROMISED TO MAIL IT IMMEDIATELY AT THE TIME. I've seen a lot of negative reviews about State Shuttle, but I can honestly say in my experience they have been absolutely great. I've used them about six times in the last several years. The drivers have always been on time to pick me up at my home, they've always been on time to pick me up at the airport, the drivers are professional, appropriately dressed, and pleasant and obliging and... their vehicles are in good condition. I had the misfortune of using state shuttle on 11/09 to travel from Pine Brook,NJ to JFK and then on 11/24 to travel back from JFK. 11/09 the shuttle did not come on time and I called the customer service, after multiple panic calls and waiting on hold, they came an hour late. Fortunately I check in online otherwise I would have missed the flight. On 11/24, during return trip,Saturday first they misplaced my child's car seat and after multiple phone calls I got it back finally on Monday. The customer service did not even pay attention to me when I called first few times and only after multiple calls they took me seriously and arranged for the return. The icing on the cake is when they charged me three times for my trip back from JFK !!! By now I have given up on State Shuttle and will never use their service in future. I had a safe, swift, clean ride to and from Newark Airport last week. Yes there was a bit of mistake in billing however even calling State Shuttle on Saturday, Becky and Nina addressed it immediately. The shuttle was on time to pick me up both times. I had a follow up call to Nina who immediately corrected the error, politely as well. I use State Shuttle for my guests and will continue to use them myself. read more

Was scheduled for a 5:15 a.m. pick-up at my house. Shuttle driver arrived at 5:10 a.m., which was a positive sign (I thought) But instead of taking me straight to Newark Airport, he drove me to the shuttle stop nearby where we waited 45 minutes for ANOTHER shuttle to come pick me up and take me to the airport. The driver was pleasant enough, but he gave no explanation for the wait. I got to the airport on time, but I was still annoyed at the long wait and the lack of explanation. We took State Shuttle a couple of weeks ago for a pickup from Ewr We arrived from London and we came out the wrong door. I called the 800 number and it turned out we were on the wrong level. I spoke to Mark our driver and I told him we would go to the correct location and he said he would come to get us. Mark was extremely polite and professional. He called his office to see if there were any traffic problems. He also acknowledged all toll booth collectors as Sir. We were very impressed with him. Never using them again. I lee 30 minutes west of Newark Liberty and they shuttle pair me with some who lives an hour south so guess where we go first? My shuttle rode is now like two hours... The driver failed to pick us up to take us to the airport for an international flight. A reservation for this car service was made and paid for one week prior to the flight date. State Shuttle did not call us to tell us that the driver would be late or in our case...not coming at all. When we called State Shuttle, they told us they "would have to send a different driver." You guys need to have an attitude check on your drivers. I have never seen such a rude and bad tempered driver in my life. He called me stupid, for not knowing which direction to go, well duh....I don't drive, that's why I need a driver ? Who knew this driver dont know directions as well, I mean he had his GPS on, how hard is it to follow the gps ? we were going from new jersey to new york...this was booked for 4 pm...along the way he kept hitting the steering wheel and grunting along the way. I used State Shuttle, Lake Hopatcong service to and from JFK-Stanhope, NJ on April 1 and April 20, 2013. The billing lady I spoke to over the phone was so rude and did not know what customer service is. I just wanted a clarification why I was charged differently for two trips of the same distance. Instead of explaining things properly to me, she defended the driver who took the cash tip I handed and charged me another tip on my card for the April 20, 2013 trip from JFK to Stanhope, NJ. The billing lady was rude enough too by dropping the phone so badly that it hurt my ears after the conversation. Customer service is not like that. As a customer, I have the right to be clarified of the bill knowing that there were no itemized receipt given or whatsoever. To the management: I hope you'll something to correct your staff. I am planning a family trip and called to make a reservation with State Shuttle. I admit I called way in advance of the September trip but I wanted to ensure I got a private van. A women took the airport information and then asked me the date. When I said Sept. she said "please hold" and then said (I guess to someone in the office), "is this lady for real?" Then she promptly hung-up on me. If my request was too early, they simply could have said "call back in August - no problem getting you a private van". Who says derogatory things about their customers when the customer can hear it?? Obviously, they don't need the business and tell you the truth, I wouldn't give them a dime given the attitude and the other reviews about the crappy service. I've taken state shuttle for years, as I travel to and from NC to visit family often. Usually the drivers are great, in fact this past trip, I had a super early flight and I am not at all a morning person. My driver was super sweet, and very professional and courteous, engaging in conversation the whole time. My flight back arrived this morning at 837am in newark. My driver was on time however I believe he saw me sitting outside with my bags and did not step out of the van. After 5 minutes I walked up to the window and asked if he was heading to where I lived and he replied yes. He put my bag in the back of the van and we were off. The van I'm in is filthy. It smells like an ash tray. There are food remnants smashed into the flooring. I just happened to look at the dash and the tire pressure light, check engine light, and fuel light are all on. We have been riding on E for about 15 minutes now. My driver doesn't talk. He said but 2 words to me. God help me because I am cranky and this man better hope he gets me home.. never again. read more

We had a lot of international guests in town for our wedding, including my in-laws so we needed a shuttle company to provide point-to-point transportation from our hotel to our wedding events (we had multiple events throughout the week) as well as a larger shuttle for all of our guests for our reception. After researching a dozen companies, we decided to book State Shuttle because of their competitive pricing on the entire package (we had 9 point-to-point trips plus the reception shuttle). I guess you get what you pay for because cheaper is definitely not better. The shuttles were CONSISTENTLY LATE and the drivers got CONSISTENTLY LOST. Each time we called dispatch to get a status, we were given the runaround with some pickups almost a half hour late. The worst of all was the night of our reception. We paid $690 for 8 hours of a full-service 24-person bus to go between my hotel and venue. Given the distance between these two is only 15 minutes, we expected the driver to have no problems with multiple trips. According to our guests, the driver was COMPLETELY LOST, taking almost an hour to go and come back. Every one of my guests ended up waiting to either get to the reception or to go home. Ultimately, even my husband and I had to WAIT AN HOUR to be picked up and taken back to the hotel (we were the last people there) and he got lost again, even though I was giving him directions, which he would not take. We ended up MISSING OUR ENTIRE AFTER-PARTY as our reception ended at midnight but the shuttle didn't get us back until 1:30am! It was a horrendous end to a perfect day and I can honestly say that State Shuttle RUINED my wedding day. They will always be my biggest regret. read more

My experience leads me to conclude that these folks are dishonest. We booked a shuttle and the confirmation noted that we would be picked up at the same time as our flight arrival time in Newark. I called customer service to ask them whether we would miss the shuttle and was informed that the shuttle would actually pick us up two hours after we landed. That didn't work for us. So, I called to cancel the shuttle and was given a cancellation number. The refund even after several calls has not come through - a full month after cancelling the reservation. We rented from Enterprise, it was more expensive but reliable. I cannot recommend State Shuttle in any way. read more

The fact that Amanda Ozdemir, a high ranking employee or owner of this company, posted a 5 star review of her "experience" on the Google site should give you ample warning about the integrity of this organization. The photos show the damage one of their "professional" drivers inflicted on my lawn. I don't believe it was malicious, just incredible incompetence. Over the past 2 months, I have left no fewer than 5 messages for the owners and have spoken to Janet the Office Manager 4 times. I have emailed the owner, Janet and "passenger" Amanda 3 times asking for an explanation and reasonable compensation for the damage. "Only the owner" can make those decisions repeats Janet (the lackey?), but the owner has not had even the common decency to return my calls or address my request for reimbursement, let alone apologize. Blowing off valid and documented complaints is just not acceptable for any ethical business. This is an example of very shabby treatment for what was a very loyal client. Until now, I used the service very frequently for transportation to/from Newark airport for business and pleasure. Yes, other companies were cheaper and some of this company's drive rs would try to solicit my business privately for a much lower cost "off the books". I continued to book through the official means because I had used them for over 15 years. But obviously my loyalty to them was insignificant. Expand your Google search past this site or use Uber... it will be cheaper and better...that's what I'm doing. read more
