I have purchased appliances from State Street Discount for years. I have never experienced anything but expertise, knowledge and friendly service from beginning to end. They provide delivery, referrals for installations or they'll load the appliances in your truck if you want to take care of installs yourself. When you shop at State Street, expect the opposite of those big box stores. The service is exemplary and the sales staff know the products they're selling. read more

We just bought a stove from State Street Discount in Portsmouth NH. The sale person was fine . However, the after sale treatment was not. We were told it would be delivered Saturday and that we would be notified by 2 pm Friday about delivery time. At 3:30 we got a text saying delivery would be between 4 and 7 pm. We needed to eat dinner and leave to go to a dance. We called the delivery company. The woman was quite snotty and said if we did not like that it would be delivered September 10th, three weeks away. We picked it up ourselves and won't use that store again. read more

NO STARS. Use my experience to avoid your own headaches and frustration. We were driving by SSD & stopped in to look at washer, dryer and wall oven (needed for a new home). Oh the brands they carry are good, but that's where the positivity ends. Salesperson talked me out of the brand I wanted, telling me Miele was the best in the world. Yes, Miele is well-known as a premier brand, and I was looking forward to getting them, but the machines delivered to my house did not meet their guaranteed assurances as very quiet, efficient machines. Once State Street Discount has your money, forget it - State Street refused to help with problems from DAY 1 of installation! (Their installation company installed the w/d incorrectly on the pedestals, and told me they didn't know much about the machines at all to answer questions, and they put a gouge in brand new kitchen cupboards installing the wall oven). When I called SSD to tell them washer & dryer were making terrible noises, they refused to help me, saying they never heard of such issues before (I sent them videos showing both machines making strange loud mechanical noises). "Rob" at SSD told me it was solely between me and Miele to resolve it. Rob is certainly not focused on valuing customer experience, and he whined that he never had any one ask to return these machines before. He told me if I contacted Miele and opened a case, he would be able to work with Miele and process a refund (at that point I was willing to buy another w/d from his store, to be fair). Shortly after that he discontinued communicating with me - knowing nothing was resolved. 8 weeks later, I'm still working with Miele to resolve, and still have a very loud, annoying washer. A Miele person opined that he wondered if the SSD delivery/installers might have dropped the machines - given the big mistakes they made during installation (not attached to pedestals securely), I wouldn't be surprised. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE - once they get your money, if you have any issues at all with BRAND NEW appliances, you are on your own. The NH Secretary of State has my complaint on file. In these tough times (virus), when supporting local stores is so important to local economy, this is one business I would never support again. Response : To respond I will say that other stores would have accepted a return of a product quickly when obviously defective from the installation. It is absolutely ridiculous that you find it acceptable that a customer has to spend 60+ hours (including many hours on hold) and 2 months on the phone and having service calls trying to resolve issues with a manufacturer. Yes I did compliment you at first because I thought you were sincerely trying to help; but after I left an additional voicemail with update and email which you did not respond to, I realized you were not communicating. At that point I was on my own to resolve this. It is unacceptable to me that you expect a manufacturer to resolve this when you are the local dealer and your delivery installer also installed incorrectly. What words didn't I hear? "I'm sorry you've had issues. Your business is valuable". "Your spent over $3k on laundry machines and we will back up the brands we carry." "How can we make this right?" Instead of deflect to manufacturer immediately post install. You pick the installers...part of the issue was the install. After fixing that, the machine still makes noises it shouldn't. Service tech confirmed this. Sales follow through should not end at delivery. For sales and installs that go smoothly, pat yourself on the back. For the rare occasion when something is truly wrong, own it. Wouldn't it be better to keep a customer as a potential future sale and avoid negative reviews in the first place? I've noticed other negative reviews on other platforms so I'm not alone in this experience. I'm a fair person, and if this gets fixed satisfactorily I will definitely advise the platform of this and revise my review. As of now I am less than impressed with my experience with SSD. read more

Everything we buy from them breaks within a month of us using the item (and we aren't buying cheap appliances). They don't back anything up. They just send you to a third party vendor. Our double wall oven broke months ago on the first day of using it. Two months later and it is still not fixed. The guy just left after arriving with only half of the parts. Same thing happened with a washing machine we bought. Stay away from this company. Pay attention to the bad reviews because this is how they do business. The sales process was fine. People were friendly and helpful. Good brands. Good prices. We bought two TVs and a grill for a total of over $4000. Then we tried to get the grill delivered. We got a run around between the store and the delivery company and it was not going to get delivered for over a week- missing all of 4th of July. So we drove up with a trailer, first having verified by phone that the grill would be ready for us to pick up. It was not. We had to wait for over an hour and a half while we waited for them to assemble the grill. This was so frustrating. It was an awful way to waste a beautiful afternoon. read more

I bought a brand new Whirlpool washing machine from State Street this year. It was delivered broken. When I called about the guarantee - they sent Anything Appliances to my house to confirm it was broken for a fee of $75. Then Anything Appliances attempted to fix it - another $225. The fix didn't work and I went back to State Street and they did help me get rebated from Anything Appliances ... but that took over a month and I still had a broken washing machine. Now it has been two more months of back and forth with State Street ... they take no ownership. I still have a broken washing machine. I would not recommend buying anything from this store - they do not stand behind what they sell. read more

I just purchased a whole kitchen for the house were building. They had an incredible choice of lines to choose from. Ashley, our sales person was super knowledgeable, & wonderful & so easy to work with. He had answers to all of our questions, & though he gave us suggestions & opinions, he never pushed us. We had made a mistake ordering a steel front Bosch dishwasher instead of a panel ready one. They took care of it without question & we had the correct one the next day. (Ashley actually called us back while on vacation & took care of everything.) We did have a problem at delivery with the attitude of 1 of the men & the appliances ended up going back to the warehouse. The next day we went over to the store to straighten out the problem, & the owner, Renee, helped straighten out the issue personally. She had the service manager meet with us right then & there, and he had everything taken care of the next day. I love my appliances (high end ), everyone from the company (delivery guys were subcontractors), & especially the great service we received! Hopefully we've bought everything we need for now, but when it comes to a new grill, we'll head to State Street Discount. read more

We went in looking for a washer and dryer. It took awhile to find a sales person, but we understood that they were busy. After waiting for awhile, someone behind the counter came out to "help" us. She seemed annoyed by our questions and anxious to get back behind the desk. She was dismissive and in a rush. I was close to tears when we left, as I felt I had taken too much of her time and could not reach a decision in the time we had with her. They want nothing to do with service. Our Maytag washer, just a few months after purchase, needed a replacement part. They took the position that they have a third party service appliances and therefore they do not get involved. The problem is that the third party was not responsive. State St. takes no responsibility for referring to a terrible service provider. Very poor customer service. Will not buy anything from them again. read more

Purchased a new Maytag/Whirlpool front load washer in May 2018. On February 15th I called the place where I purchased the washer, saying the seal was broken, water was pouring out of the washing machine when we did laundry. The place where I purchased the was scheduled the first appointment with Whirlpool Factory Service. The first appointment wasn't until the end of the month. The day before the appointment I was called and told they had to push the appointment out since the part wasn't in stock. Pushed it out 2 weeks. Day before this second appointment, guess what? Part STILL not in (um, I can get the part the next day from Amazon). Pushed it out another week. Guy came today. Said he replaced the seal and left. I never checked. A couple of hours later I went to do a load of laundry, opened the washer door and a wire support fell to the floor. The seal/gasket that was put in was not secured at all. PLUS-I swear the seal is used! My old seal looks in far better condition. Now, next appointment available isn't until the 23rd!! I have been without a washer all of this time. I've called Whirlpool--they say it isn't their company (um, but the company is representing you!). I called the place where I purchased the washer. They said they'd 'give a shout out' to see if anyone could come sooner. I said this warranty company is also representing them! Incredible that I can get the part overnight but the business representing Whirlpool can't get it for weeks!! read more

Purchased a full kitchen appliance GE Profile stainless package through them (refrigerator, gas range, microwave, dishwasher....not to mention a washer & dryer). From day 1 the refrigerator did not work correctly, and was told by State Street to contact GE for warranty issues. After 1 year and 6 visits from the first warranty company without a fix, I called State Street to tell them what was happening. The woman in State Streets warranty department said since it was past 1 year there is nothing she can do (it was 1 year and +/- 3 weeks), and if I would have contacted her each time I had an issue, maybe she could have done something OR if I had called her before the 1 year mark she could work something out with their GE sales rep. I explained that I originally contacted State Street to tell them there was an issue, but was told to contact GE for all service issues. I also explained I was never told to check back in with State Street each time I had an issue. Moving along, the extended service plan I purchased through State Street required MORE service calls from another companies service technicians so they could try and fix it. I've had the pleasure of waiting for technicians on 9 different occasions between both service companies. This too was explained to State Street discount.........Nothing. Finally, the extended warranty company decided the refrigerator could not be fixed and offered to send a check for what I paid for it 2 years ago, fantastic. I called State Street to see if they could offer a deal for a similar refrigerator, since they have been aware of the issues since day 1, and sidestepped having to lift a finger throughout the process. Their 1st price was more than I had originally paid, their counter offer was $100 less. Home Depot has the same refrigerator for $100 less then State Street's lowest price, and free delivery. In closing, it seems like State Street is only interested in providing assistance after the sale if it can provide them additional revenue. While I always make every effort to buy local, turns out some items are just not worth it. My unfortunate recommendation, buy elsewhere. read more

Oh how I wish there was a way to give negative stars. As I sit here, FUMING, I figured I'd vent on Yelp and hopefully save others from the same frustration and lack of service. 2 weeks ago, I purchased a stove. Only received the stove 2 days ago (at 6pm so no chance my plumber was going to be there to hook it up so yet another day off of work). The sales rep made the delivery process seem SOOO easy-breezy. It was not. Plumber hooks up the gas yesterday, plugs is in AND IT'S BROKEN. Control board is fried. This is a common issue with the particular brand we purchased yet the sales guy went on and on about how the electronic components have drastically improved, blah, blah, blah. To tell you the truth, I've owned this brand of stove for more than 15 years and never had an issue until the control board went on my last one. My bad for buying another Jenn-Air? Perhaps. So, on to the customer service. I call and the service person was horrified. She called Jenn-air and they can't come out for TWO WEEKS? Unacceptable. Then, I get the song and dance about how her manager may be able to reduce that service call window and she was going to have him call me first thing this morning. I have not heard boo from them or my sales person. At this point, I just want this $3300 POS out of my house and I will take my business elsewhere....they can also cover the cost of the plumber. Let's see how this all plays out. I'll be sure to post an update! Update - I found my own repair person and SSD is having Jenn-Air fedex the parts for delivery tomorrow morning. Update #2: - my repair guy came and went and the parts never arrived....one day later and I still don't have them! (Never did receive them) Update #3 - Owner got involved. Good of him to call but given the holidays, we still had to wait almost 2 weeks for the replacement. Just came today. Really hoping this is the end of it because it's been more than a month of eating out. Cooking for an army on Christmas Eve (in my toaster oven) was quite interesting. Upgrading my rating as I now realize Jenn air is mostly to blame for this silly situation. read more

Would prefer to leave NO STARS if I could. We purchased a washing machine and sprang for the extended warranty. Machine died after one year and could not be fixed. Warranty was supposed to refund our price but despite repeated calls to State Street and promises that the warranty would be honored, we NEVER received a penny in compensation. Added to this is the irritation that prices don't appear on the store website. Instead, you have to "call for pricing." Sorry. If you can't be more transparent than that, your prices are clearly not competitive. I will never shop at this store again and would recommend that others avoid it like the plague as well. If there were negative stars, I would use them. We purchased a Miele dishwasher, Miele refrigerator and Miele oven-------many, many thousands spent. Miele was offering a $1000 rebate. State Street stressed this in their sale. These items were ordered back in early 2021. We sent in the Miele rebate. Here's where the scam begins. It turns out. with State Street's knowledge, Miele has a third party process the rebates. They stall and stall and State Street knows this. They say that the serial number on the box does not match the number on the appliance. Not true, it was checked many times and it matched. I called the BBB and found out they say this to everyone. This third party is rewarded with each application they reject. State Street would never give any direct contact information about this Miele Rebate and Miele kept saying it was the store's responsibility. A classic he said, she said. State Street knows this because they have been notified many times by the BBB. On October the 5th of 2021, State Street said that the $1,000 rebate was coming and would be here in three weeks. Surprise, no rebate. I was told now by State Street that Miele did not have the rebate and that I was to apply all over again and if it bounced, give them a call. Unbelievable. These these were words from the State Street Discount appliance department. Do not buy from this store, do not believe anything they tell you even if it is writing. They honor nothing. Do not bother to try and get a rebate. This store represents itself as a multi generational . family store. It means nothing. Do not accept this as confirmation of their integrity. I have never dealt with such consistent misrepresentation or lack of honesty. I read more

My family went inside last night because we need a new stove. Upon entering the store, we headed over to the stove section where a sales man came over to help my family. He was condescending, degrading, and flat out rude. He responded to my mother's questions like she was stupid for asking them. The Good: Lots of stuff to look at. The Bad: as part of outfitting my new house kitchen ( all appliances ), I put together a complete list including precise model numbers. Took it to three stores. State Street's price was almost $2,000 less than the other two. I asked the salesman (who had bragged about his 17 years with them) twice to confirm their price...which he did. When I went in with my checkbook, the price jumped $2,000+. When I expressed my disbelief, the salesman literally shrugged. When I asked to see the manager, he wasn't available. Bought a high end appliance package from this company recently to have delivered to our new home in Maine. Delivery was as scheduled, however, the refrigerator was so large and heavy that the first crew could not get it upstairs. State Street Discount bend over backwards to accommodate us. They sent appliance technicians (with a 5 hour commute to Maine) to take the doors off the refrigerator and then moved the item up the stairs. Highly recommend! read more

I recently moved to New Hampshire from Arizona, and I have never been able to find a business to work with that is able to keep up with my needs within the client's budget, without the pressure of buying more than what I need. We wandered around for 45 minutes or more before anyone asked us if we needed help. We were there to purchase everything for our kitchen. I had previously good experiences here but many years ago. I recently bought a GE gas range and it's a piece of junk. I ran into problems with their delivery company that only works one day a week in my area, almost canceled my order but they found a different delivery company. This company came a week late and did a terrible job, didn't even bother to level the range even though I paid them $225 to hook it up. When I called later they promised to return and level it but they never followed up, after several more calls. I would never buy here again. read more

Don't believe their hours of operation or expect to receive professional and courteous service! I was there at 9:02 am to pick up an appliance I had purchased earlier in the month. State Street's posted hours are 9 am......Upon entering the warehouse door, I was "greeted" by a man behind the glass window wih a glare and a remark "we're not open yet". I politely responded that my iphone indicated it was 9:02--I asked what time he had--his computer time was 9:00...?????????? He then said that that "the doors weren't even open"...really, how did I walk in??? His attitude was hostile, it was a very uncomfortable--and upon departing I suggested that if he didn't want to piss off any more customers that he should lock the door. I've had previous bad experiences at State Street years ago (the price was a "misprint", they just sold the last one, its on the truck and hasn't arrived in time for the sale) so shame on me for thinking that over the years things might improve. On a positive note, my sales lady was very helpful with the rebate paperwork and did a nice job of explaining the difference in model features etc. Buyer/Consumer beware--and be sure to bring a 6'5 guy with you when you pick up your purchase--maybe you'll be treated with respect and courtesy then--maybe not..... read more

Our stove died last month, and we decided to replace the whole suite. I suspected that State Street probably wasn't in our budget , but I decided to check it out anyway. The salesman helping another couple looked and sounded like he was in fact helpful *to them,* but he didn't even acknowledge that I was there, although I strolled past them repeatedly, opening and closing oven doors, etc. He didn't say, "I'll be right with you," or "Let me find someone to help you," or even hello. There were two women at the desk area when I walked in (and out); they didn't look up or acknowledge me either. I ended up finding a pen on a counter and writing down some model numbers myself, which I looked up at home (cheaper elsewhere), but I definitely felt invisible. Unless you need high end (and no assistance), this isn't the place to go. read more

Don't be lured by cheap prices. Ordered a washer/dryer. Everything seemed great. Friendly phone service etc. Then, total delivery failure. Delivery guys who were comically incapable. "Too many steps", "we worked too hard today and we're tired," "we're only paid a day rate." What?? Seriously? They refused to deliver units up to our condo despite very capable help on the receiving end. So, Ashley in sales seems apologetic. Warehouse manager seems apologetic. However, 1 week later, no credit has been placed on this purchase despite 2 phone calls. Certainly no offer of any type of compensation for what both sales and delivery department recognized as absolute service failure This was utter robbery. Now I have to work thru credit card company to get money back from this company. Wish there was a zero star option for yelp! Buyer beware. Stay away from this company Update 5/10/15: Still haven't been credited for this washer/dryer that they never delivered. Unbelievable. Time to bring this to the next level. Bought a Bosch dishwasher and an extended warranty for it from State Street Discount two years ago. I have been very satisfied with the dishwasher, thanks to the quality Bosch offers. I however, do need service for a part which has broken, and the extended service agreement State Street sold me is useless. First, it is a five-year warranty, but it actually covers only four years because the first year of the agreement runs concurrently with the one-year warranty offered by Bosch. In other words, the first year is unnecessary, but State Street does not mention that. The bigger problem, however, is the service provider with which State Street has chosen to do business. That company is TWG Solutions, Inc. or theserviceport.com, both of which are listed on the service agreement, but neither of which can be reached easily. When I finally was able to speak with someone in Claims at TWG, I was told that the agreement only covered parts and labor for "mechanical or electrical breakdown". When I have a part which is broken--making it impossible to use the dishwasher as intended--but TWG does not consider that a "breakdown" which is covered, then I consider the service agreement to be WORTHLESS. And I fault State Street for not better vetting this company with which it has chosen to do business and, therefore, not offering its customers a useful service agreement. My advice: Buyer beware! Don't purchase an extended service agreement from State Street Discount. Find on your own a company which offers a service agreement which actually covers the problems you may experience with that appliance down the road. read more

Bought a high-end Thermador range and other kitchen appliances (drawer microwave, vent hood). Was never warned/told about the obnoxiously loud oven vent fan which goes on every time you use the oven and continues to run after the oven is turned off until it has cooled down. The sales person was more interested in pushing my wife and I out the door and moving on than listening to our needs. I love giving local guys the business, but not anymore. I renovate and sell 4 to 6 houses a year.......huge mistake. Much better experience with Best Buy. No one wants to take accountabilty and is always looking to "pass the buck" onto the next person. Amazing experience. We are re-doing our kitchen and just found out our cabinets will arrive in a month so we had to get our appliances ASAP. We decided on, among other things, a Wolf Cooktop Range. They aren't sold in big box stores so we started to shop around. When we went to State Street, we were paired up with a salesman named Jared. He turned out to be extremely knowledgeable and personable. Unfortunately, the lead time on the range top we wanted was 8-10 weeks out. We shopped a couple other sources and were told the same thing so we went back to Jared. Long story short, Jared discovered he had 3 in the warehouse that belonged to contractors. He then took the time to call each one to see if they needed the unit right away or could they wait until he was able to order another one back in. Lo and behold, he found a contractor who had enough time to wait for him to re-order a unit and thus was able to sell me his unit from the warehouse. I was amazed by that level of initiative. Because of that, I went back today to discuss downdraft range fans and, once again, Jared gave me spot-on information so, guess what, we are going to buy our range fan from him as well as a microwave. He's definitely a class act. No pressure, just solid information and terrific service. read more
