We made our first trip to Hubbingtons last weekend, and we enjoyed every aspect of our visit. We were looking for a particular kind of desk for our guest room. Once we found something that was almost "just right", we were able to have it customized to meet our specifications. The staff was pleasant, professional and well-informed. The furniture is lovely and incredibly well-crafted. We will go back whenever we are looking for a high quality American-made furniture (big or small). Went in today to purchase a polywood rocker. The female sales person was ridiculously unhelpful. Could not find her in store, kept yelling "hello" with no answer. I was on my way out when she appeared and made a crack about me yelling. The no sale went as follows.Custom order of the rocker in a different color takes 10 weeks and will have to be picked up in Barrington. I told her I was a few miles from the N Hampton store and that I would like to pick up where I ordered. she said she would try but she doubts it. then she charges me $145 more than what the rocker was tagged. she ripped off the tag and said it was a mistake and I could buy the one outside for that price but not the ordered one. Total waste of time, no Rocking chair purchased and a rude and unhelpful sales person. after purchasing four adirondlacks from them last year, I will never shop there again read more

Wonderful shop if you are into mission style furniture. Hubbington's staff is knowledgeable, friendly and customer focused. They have two showrooms filled with beautiful furniture so you can see and sample what you might buy. Their contacts with manufacturers are extensive so you have lots of choices. As a bonus - their warehouse staff are super helpful at loading your furniture should you choose to pickup and save on delivery charges. They wrapped and packed some chairs I recently ordered with TLC! Only four stars because the owner has a policy that if you order a piece of furniture and don't take it ( for whatever reason) you lose your deposit. I am of the opinion the owner is in the position to take this potential risk for customers. At any rate - great place so enjoy! read more

The staff and quality of furniture is outstanding. Everything they sell is made in the United States. Nancy is so knowledgeable, helpful and collaborative. She was also very transparent with advising us of any delays as of course ordering furniture during the pandemic was bound to have some delays. We are going back to select items for another room. Quality craftmanship in every piece of furniture I have purchased from Hubbingtons. The first set I bought was Tom Seely and because of the price of the chairs I picked out (all cherry) to match the dining room table I purchased one chair at a time (I needed 2 arm chairs and 8 side chairs) and over the course of 1 year I was able to get them all. One chair came in and though I didn't see it Meredith knew how my other chairs looked and she refused it and sent it back. The second purchase at Hubbingtons was last year (2018) and was a Master Bedroom set made of Cherry. I purchased the dressers and 1 night stand. I figured the 2nd night stand, King headboard, footboard and side bed rails could wait, until I had the money for them. I was concerned about the finish color matching later on but was assured that it would match and if for some reason the manufacture discontinued the color Meredith would let me know in time to order the last pieces. Six months later I ordered the night stand and a year later I ordered the bed. They were a perfect match. No this it is not the way I like to buy my furniture but it sure does help when it has to be done. Just knowing that someone has your back and is keeping an eye out for you. No where else has a store been so customer oriented, sell it and forget it is not the way they work. Hubbingtons sells furniture that will always hold the test of time, my pieces are all traditional in design so I know they will always be in style. They sell higher priced furniture but significantly better than the quality of furniture we've purchased from Jordan's for example. I've come to the conclusion that the saying "buy once cry once" should apply to furniture. We are on our 3rd kitchen table from Jordan's in less that 20 years, the furniture we purchased from Hubbingtons is the quality to last a lifetime and beyond. The only other company that sold the same maker furniture was Cabot House and Hubbingtons had slightly better prices and significantly better customer service. read more

We have been buying from Hubbington's for years. Last October, our home was damaged by fire and we needed to replace a significant amount of furniture. We went to Hubbington's. Karen, helped us from the first day we walked in the store. Her customer service was outstanding. We wanted to order some furniture but were unsure when our home would be ready. Hubbington's ordered the furniture and stored it for us till we could use it. The end date of the renovation has changed several times and Hubbington's has always switched to the newest completion date. It has taken eight months for the reconstruction to finish, Hubbington's ordered and stored our items since they arrived at the store. Everyone has been especially friendly and easy to deal with. Fantastic store. They sell quality furniture, their staff is warm and friendly and completely honest. They could have sold me the table I wanted which was considerably more expensive but after talking to me and getting out the tape measure and showing me how big the table really was I came to realize that particular table would have never fit into my dinning room with all the leaves in it. So I bought a smaller table which was less expensive but beautiful and looks great in my dinning room. I really appreciate their up front honesty. We were in the market for a bedroom set and worked with Hubbingtons to price out several sets. When we made our final decision on a set we asked Hubbingtons and another local retailer to provide us with a price for the set. Hubbingtons' price was higher than the other retailer, but we wanted to do business with Hubbingtons because of the assistance that they had provided with pricing out sets for us in the past. When we reached out to Hubbingtons to see if they would match the price the other retailer they advised that they do not price match. A week later they approached us again to let us know that they " renegotiated freight rates" and wanted to know if we were still in the market. When we advised that we did purchase from the other store, but that we'd be in the market for some additional pieces in a few months we received the following email: "I have to be honest, that it will be difficult for any of us to invest time with you on any future purchases. We give the best price we can based on cost of product and freight. Our costs went down so we would have passed that along to you. As far as other stores, their prices are higher and in instances where they price match...well that's something we don't do. I guess that was a very low cost sale for Harris and the salesperson. Not much time spent since I got you to the point of knowing what you wanted and that this extra work I put into "educating" you of the merits of one builder over another I had hoped would be worth this bit extra. I don't think Hubbingtons is the right source for your future purchases." Based on the email above we know that other retailers in this area offer better pricing than Hubbingtons and that Hubbingtons' level of unprofessionalism is something that other consumers should be wary of. read more

To Whom It May Concern In good faith I wanted to support the American worker, the quality and craftsmen's of the products they make are far superior to any other furniture makers. Hubbington Furniture of Barrington, NH advertises USA made furniture. On March 25, 2017 I was shopping at Hubbington for a new bed and night stands, the showroom was attractive and the sales help was attentive but not pushy, after looking at all the displays I settled on a bed. I contacted the saleswoman Elaine Thomas that was helping me and asked for a price on a California King bed and showed her the model I was looking at. I had stated to Elaine Thomas when we first meet at the door that I wanted a California King Platform Bed with the drawers underneath. When I went back to the sales desk another saleswomen named Meredith Tent-Tomassetti asked if I had seen the hidden drawer, which I had not, we walked back to the display and I was very pleased with the concealment and quality of the hidden drawer. The price for the display model was not visible I was later told it was on the top of the bed frame even if I had seen the price I would have relied on Elaine Thomas' pricing information because I wanted a California King not a Queen size bed which was on display. I was quoted a price for a King size bed and informed they would have to call the manufacture to see if they made a California King and the cost. I was given a picture of the bed with the drawers underneath exactly like the bed in the showroom that I wanted with the price of $1260 even though I talked about clear cherry not rustic cherry (with knots) I was quoted a price for rustic cherry and informed that Hubbington was closed on Sunday and Monday someone would call me Tuesday when the manufacture Paint Valley of Apple Creek Ohio would get back to Hubbington with a price and the option of a California King. Elaine told me that she only worked on Saturday and that it would be another sales person that would contact me. On Wednesday I called Hubbington for the information and to clarify that I wanted clear cherry not rustic cherry, I was told that the price for a California King and a King are the same $1512 in clear cherry and it would take 8-12 weeks for delivery. Delivery and setup would be on Tuesday or Saturday in my area and would cost $89.00. One third of the cost would be expected at the time of order and two thirds at the time of delivery along with the $89 delivery fee, I ask if I could pay by credit card and was informed that each truck was equipped with the ability to do credit card transactions. On Tuesday April 4, 2017 I went to Hubbington furniture to order, a California King Size bed with two night stands I showed the sales representative Karen Day the picture with the drawer assemble and prices I had been quoted for both items Bed $1512 and the night stands $583 a piece. Karen Day told me that the price was wrong it should have been $1590 and I wanted the night stands on display with the cabinet front opening which raised the price to $609 a piece. Meredith was present and remembered showing me the concealed drawer. We also discussed the possibility of having other drawer pulls installed on the nightstands and drawers underneath the bed along with stain colors both Karen Day and Meredith commented on not having knowledge about the exchange of drawer pulls and that this may cost more I was agreeable to this. Karen Day stated that it could cost approximately $2 per pull, I roughly counted the pulls and said $24 to have what I wanted was okay. I provided the sales representative Karen Day with my credit card and assumed that I was entering a contract with Hubbington Furniture when I received a receipt for my deposit I considered it as a binding contract to have a California King Size bed and two nightstands made and delivered to my residence in eight to twelve weeks time. On Wednesday April 5, 2017 a family member received a phone call from Hubbington stating that they had misquoted the price on the bed and that I should have known this because the price was on the bed in the showroom (Queen Size Bed). I was quoted a price without the drawer assembly and the new price would be raising the cost approximately $1000. I returned their call on Thursday April 6, 2017 and talked to Karen Day (Sales Representative for Hubbington Furniture) I informed Karen Day that I thought that raising the price was not a fair business practice and that as a businessman if I had agree to complete a job at the agreed upon price I would have to do this and eat the cost myself. Ms. Day agreed with me and in good faith honor the price as quoted. Friday, April 6, 2017 Ms. Karen Day called and said she could not sell the bed and nightstands to me at the agreed upon price and that she was returning my deposit. I'm surprised to read the negative reviews, as I had nothing but a positive experience at the North Hampton store. I went in looking for some specific dining chairs. As I was looking at them, an employee advised me that another brand made very similar ones. I ended up liking the other ones even better, and to top it off they were both less expensive and appeared to be better made. I was advised about the 8-12 week lead time when placing my order, but the chairs came in more quickly and pick up was a breeze. This store (No. Hampton) sorely lacks customer service. Their prices are in a high enough range that would seem to warrant a pleasant consumer experience but such is not the case. I am a home decorator and I worked with a client back in early March to purchase over $8,000 in furniture. The buying experience was confusing, the sales person was spread too thin and we were left to fend for ourselves with trying to figure out pricing, lead time and intricate choices such as wood/finish/fabrics, etc. For these prices, the customer should be treated to "concierge" service with the option of some flexibility on pricing, lead time, delivery, etc. I honestly get better treatment from Abode HOME in Portsmouth whose prices are less than half of what Hubbington charges. The ultimate insult is the $89 delivery fee (even within the same town). They do not budge on this and even if your order is shipped separately, you have to wait until the very last piece comes in so that they can deliver everything together (or pay $89.00 for EACH delivery). By the way, my client's order was placed on March 4, 2018 and it still has not arrived (12 weeks and counting...). I now steer my clients away from this store at all costs (and there are many). read more

Furniture quality and design is worth the wait and other frustrations. I'm big on service, ease of purchasing, and consistency. I almost didn't order here because of the challenges with the process but I've had my forever furniture pieces now for a year and just called and order a matching custom dresser to add. I needed a cal King size captain bed with under storage and two huge dressers due to limited closet space. They could only fit in a certain way and every store I searched (for over 6 mos) required too many compromises on either quality, style, material, color, design, features. I worked with several different people at Hubbington's during this selection process through email and phone at first. I wanted an easy to navigate web page that I could click and customize but I got picture of draft hard to see pieces. To be certain we narrowed our selection and went to the store to ensure the quality of our builder, wood type and color was exactly what we anticipated. Due to the custom selection we choose we weren't able to see an exact piece, color or style. The 8-12 week wait was far longer than we had anticipated but after 6 months of shopping I knew that any custom pieces I ordered elsewhere were going to cost a lot more and take that amount of time anyway I knew I wasn't willing to settle for a retail mass produced piece I would be replacing in a few years due to craftsmanship. My husband and I signed the order and sure enough the price was not what we agreed. My husband was so frustrated he walked out. I knowing how much I was already saving because I did the research agreed to the price increase ($115) and accepted the new terms. They showed me where the error came from so I understood how the mistake was made (they don't have an automated way of calculating and deal with builder that spend their time on making the furniture not marketing it online with fancy web tools). If it weren't for the pain of the ordering process I would have given them 5 stars. The furniture is this worth it. I've moved my bedroom set, reassembled the bed. You can't go to most furniture stores a year later and have a custom matching color, builder and design pieces made to match a previously purchased set from last year. If you need the convenience of mass produced furniture and are willing to either pay a lot more or get basic quality then I would not recommend this place. If you want the heirloom pieces at an incredible price and can be patient to work through the challenges this type of shopping comes with then Hubbington's is the best place I have found. read more
