He was presented with aphasia and lack of awareness of where he was or why he was there. While he was there he had a massive case of diarrhea. Extremely smelly. When the physican was told that Bill had gone to the gym and the grocery store, he seemed very skeptical. He did pray the knee but seemed to ignore some other issues. The smell, the aphasia, the disorientation. Gave him some pills and sent him home to see his orthopedic doctor. We left and about 12 hours later he fell again. Returned to ED where he was diagnosed with kidney infection, severe dehydration, e coli and sepsis. This is unlikely that this all came together in 12 hours. End result hospital stay and rehab. The concern that I have is the lack paying attention to the entire situation! Instead of looking at a patient and deciding that he was an old man, somewhat demented complaining about a bum knee that was being seen by an orthopedic doctor. Instead listen to the family story and assuming that there was truth in what they said. If there are other issues, go a little further than cleaning them up. Cdiff STINKS To high heavens. If they were really paying attention to the total patient, there may have been a way to correct the sepsis or check for other symptoms. After years of suffering through long car rides over an hour long, I just completed a 9-hour drive with the least discomfort I've ever had in the car. I felt noticeably more alert and less fatigued. When he first got there we noticed that it was dirty in his room and housing keeping only emptied the trash for 4 days I complained and it got a little better still needs attention. My brother was sent back to the hospital and I was embarrassed on how dirty the wheel chair was I brought in Clorox wipes and used two packets to clean it myself. I don't want this to be an example of the center . Staff seem very happy.

I'm not really sure how to evaluate somewhere like this other than what I observed and my father's stories. Orthopedic Associates of Greater Lehigh Valley is part of St. Luke's hospitals. The building they are in is large and houses many different doctor's offices. Their office does not have a flashy waiting room. They have a TV in the corner that was blaring daytime TV - no one else was in the room so I shut it off. Their rehab facility has lots of new equipment. While there, there were two other people on the equipment. Each had their own trainer. He spent one hour working with his trainer after which he went to get cleaned up. I had the chance to talk to his trainer - he praised my father's progress and was candid about what was going well and what was not. I always appreciate candor, particularly when it comes to health. If I had the name of the trainer, I would mention him here. But, unfortunately I don't. But, if I had to have work of this nature done, I would trust Orthopedic Associates of Greater Lehigh Valley.
