I was admitted in the COVID unit from December 10- December 17 I thought my stay at st Luke's…read moreuniversity hospital was very educational. The doctors and nurses were nice as can be and in the ER till I got upstairs were nice too. I will definitely return for medical treatment here.

This is the absolute worst hospital I've ever gone to and I'm just glad I can share my experience…read moreso I can stop anyone from taking a loved one here. ***DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES*** THE ER is great and everyone is very competent so this does not apply to them. The radiologist department is competent but not sympathetic to the patients in any way and really seemed like they hated their job and helping people in general. I ended up in the trauma unit where two nurses took me in with a broken back. I thought I would be in good hands but right away I was and was not. One nurse wrapped my feet so tight to the bed it felt like it was on purpose. I couldn't move with my back so I couldn't fix them. The other nurse goes "that's too tight" and then the other nurse said that was fine and walked away. She only loosened them a little bit I slept all night like that because I had no choice. The next day I had a new male nurse who was really nice but a bit incompetent and lazy to take care of people on a trauma unit. I had sat there all day and not many checked in in me and there was absolutely no med schedule that was being followed. The level of organization was obvious and many people seemed to be there to hangout other than to do their jobs. The same day followed with ridiculous mistakes like not cleaning bedpans, leaving trays of garbage, forgetting to come back with water. Little things became big things. The elderly lady next to me had been totally forgotten about. She was asked if she was okay but no one ever went to check her bedpan or diapers. By the time they did check hours and hours later, the bed was filled with so much pee they had to change everything out. Needless to say, my room then wreaked of someone else's urine. The final straw is when they helped me to the bathroom and then never came back.

Severe Diagnostic Failure and Patient Neglect I am writing…read morethis review out of deep concern for the safety of future patients at this facility. During my stay, the medical staff failed to properly review my lab results, leading to a premature and dismissive psychological diagnosis that could have resulted in permanent physical harm. I presented to the hospital with progressing, visible neurological symptoms, including severe numbness, burning, vision changes and more. Despite repeatedly informing the staff that my condition was worsening after admission, the treating physician dismissed my physical symptoms as psychological because the mri's came back negative, stating they were "in my head," and repeatedly insisted that I needed a psychiatrist. Alarmed by this dismissal, I reviewed my own lab work and discovered that my Vitamin B6 level was significantly elevated at 80.8 ng/mL--well over double the normal limit and a definitive indicator of B6 toxicity (hypervitaminosis B6). Every single one of my neurological symptoms perfectly correlated with this toxic exposure. Incredibly, while I was experiencing active B6 toxicity, the hospital was actively administering multivitamins and melatonin to me, which directly exacerbated my condition. When I brought the lab results to the physician's attention, he initially argued and went back and forth with me. Only after I insisted that he consult another physician did he review the data properly, return, and apologize. Had I not intervened and audited my own medical records, I would have been discharged to go home and continue taking the supplements that were actively poisoning my nervous system. My primary concern is the systemic "domino effect" of damage this hospital's culture creates. Writing off complex, undiagnosed physical illnesses as mental health issues causes profound patient confusion, creates unnecessary family arguments, and delays life-saving or sight-saving care. Dismissing physical pathology as a psychiatric issue because a physician cannot immediately find the answer is dangerous medical practice. This was a horrific experience, and the facility needs immediate oversight regarding how lab results are audited.

But I'm not expecting perfection just, want to be better my nurses on that floor were fantastic. the therapists were all wonderful, particularly Cypress and Louanne, Lauren was my occupational therapist and Kristen & Jen were my speech therapists. The patience that they had with me was amazing if you ever need physical therapy (I hope you don't), I definitely recommend St. Luke's ARC department. I learned so much about the brain, such an amazing organ, the doctors that came into my room on a daily basis. were definitely kind and caring. There were so many of them too many to name the one that sticks out in my mind is Dr. dePadua. i also enjoyed my chats with Chaplin Paul. I was discharged on June 18 and was recommended for neuro-physical therapy at Warren- Hillcrest in NJ. Review where I continue to improve and met more amazing therapists Michael for speech, Nicholas for occupational and Erica for physical. A shout out to Alyssa up at ARC. She was a rehab aid.
