Really great selection of meat, produce, liquor, and just about anything you need to feed self and family. This is a pretty large place with pleasant, industrious employees. And, given that it's in the town of Mojave, hardly known for having much in the way of conveniences, this place is a godsend. Friendly, well stocked, lots of parking and good service hours. They even had a nice selection of sandwiches and quick, just heat up meals. read more

So yesterday on 11-11-25. I came in to pickup a few things at round 10am. Around that time heard two of your employees talking about carts. I heard your checker Sheila tell Laura bring in carts or go get carts. Laura politely tells Sheila that she has been bringing them up. Then all of a sudden she starts yelling at Laura and telling her to shut up. Last time I checked my moral compass this is not how we handle things in a professional setting. So it seems this location does not keep the handicap carts charged for us disabled people it's pathetic how I waste my gas and find a driver to take me to shop when in fact the carts are still not plugged in from the night before so now 2 days of no charging carts for us to shop I can't walk at all I depend on tge carts to get food the assistant manager was not hopeful about the carts just told me to continue wasting my gas paying someone to take and help me and let him know if things change not to mention their prices keep getting higher and higher this store doesn't seem to care about their disabled customers at all read more

Clean and surprisingly big grocery store for basically being in the middle of nowhere. We were on the road and stopped to find a restroom and ended up shopping here for dry goods and snacks. Wished they had more cashiers or even express lanes or self checkout because the checkout process took a while even though there was only 1 or 2 parties ahead of us in line. I asked a simple question about the lotto tickets, she rolled her eyes & started to ignore me while I was standing there watching her do all of that. Been shopping at the Mojave Stater Brothers for something like 30 years. Back in the 80's we'd load up the trucks with bikes and dogs, a hibachi and sleep in the bed of the trucks at dove springs -- the stopping at Stater Brothers ritual for a camping trip began. Then I decided we could drive back from Dove Springs and spend the night in a flea bag motel, a bed, a shower and a waitress to bring us food-- hot damn. Munchies and beer and a sandwich at the Stater Brothers service deli and we were set. Then we started getting RVs so stocking up at Stater Brothers was always the start of a great trip. I even spent a night or 2 in the RV in the Stater Brothers parking lot waiting for friends to show up- especially when I lived in Seattle for 5 years. Then my life exploded and of all places I moved to Cal City. Lots of pluses and minuses here. Cal City Market or Rite Aid sometimes have that 1 thing or so, but Stater Brothers is the closest real market. Yes, Stater Brothers is not Gelsons, but it's a good supermarket. You do have to be careful with meats being too close to sell by dates--- but I've had the guy bring me newer paks from the back that have longer life left-- and even gotten refunds for an occasional bad item. And watch the produce. All in all, for basic groceries, even some stuff like shaving cream or cleaning supplies I'm glad Stater Brothers is just 12 miles away-- sure, every other week or so when I'm heading below I'll plan on stopping at Trader Joe's in Palmdale an Costco but again I like Stater Brothers. As for the employees-- most of em are pretty friendly -- maybe if you're walking around with your cellphone glued to your face looking down at people beneath you you might get what some reviewers complain of, I've found most helpful and friendly. read more

This is the worst grocery store I've brave ever been to. The people are really nice but the produce is all going bad. Why are they still in the shelf. I brought it to the attention of a staff member the first time I went to this store. I came another day and the same thing. Even the pre wrapped produce is rotten! Whoever the produce manager is should be fired. I am a vegan so to know that I cannot come to the store that is closer to my house is disappointing. I will drive 30 minutes out of the way to go to a better store in the future. Sad. Do better people!!!! read more

Worst stater brothers ever! I went here while charging my Tesla for a quick bite, went to deli counter and this older lady comes to help us after 10mins of waiting, we asked her for a sandwich and she replied with an attitude and said we are out of that, next we asked her for another signature sandwich and she replied a second time with another attitude "What's on it?".. she works in the deli counter not me.. I had to read it to her while she gathered the ingredients! Than her coworker came and helped her make our sandwiches she was better and more helpful, this is why I'm giving this place 2 stars. I think they do need some food safety training since they microwaved my sandwich bread in a plastic bag. I guess they are clueless of BPA! read more

I rarely enjoy my shopping experience, but when I do get good service I can tell everyone is trying their best.

My over all experience is not good. I have to agree most of the produce is in bad shape. The biggest problem I have is there needs to be more registers open especially on weekends. I'll go to Albertsons when possible. They tend to be more expensive but have a much better selection in my opinion. I can usually get what I need and get out faster at Albertsons than I can at staters. read more

I enjoy this store because there's a few staff that recognize me I'm not sure how I feel about the remodel yet it looks good although some departments are bare and the signage is not posted properly like yesterday I bought progreso soup on sale it just said you had to buy 6 to get the sale it didn't say you couldn't buy a specific amount but when I got to the register the person ringing me up said nope you bought too many so either have to pay full dollar amount or I'll have to take some of these off so instead of letting me look through what I purchased so that I could takeoff what I didn't actually really want and keep the ones that I really wanted he just took the ones off that was closest to him and I kept whatever I got so it wasn't nice of him I said well it's only 13 cans can you just ring it up on a separate ticket so that I can still get the sale price on them he said no that wouldn't be fair to anybody else i'll still shop at stater brothers because I enjoy the company of some of the staff but I'll be more careful and choosy as to the items I buy that are on sale read more

I was so hungry the other day and in a hurry to get home, so I stopped at tater Bros. Mojave and bought a "Cleo and Leo" rotisserie chicken from the deli along with some tortillas. It was so delicious and such a good value. Everyone at the store is always so nice. read more

Most of the time Deb and I will either drive to Tehachapi or Rosamond for our grocery shopping. However sometimes we just need something quick and don't want to drive to the others. So the only other option is Stater Bros in Mojave. We live in Cal City but there is no way we will shop at the market in town and the new Dollar General isn't much better. Stater Bros has a good meat department and the produce is ok. Nothing special but ok. Over all for a quick trip this isn't bad and we will continue to come here for a quick shopping trip. read more

I Think this place is AMAZING for Mojave. An actual FULL grocery store! It IS the only option if you live in cal city and you don't wanna drive 45 minutes to get groceries, so for that i think we should be thankful. There ARE bums outside the place sometimes asking for change. But that's only sometimes. I've never had a bad experience with the produce there like 'Death-Valley J' said. In fact, my friend and i came HERE once cause she said the fruit was better than at the Air Force Base grocery store. So yeah! Anyways, i doubt anyone would even have to yelp this place. Staying across the street, I was directed here for food by hotel staff. Many items are overpriced, as befitting the 'only show in town'. I opted for what I thought was fresh deli, the chicken salad. Clerk said it had been made the day before, but it looked tired and was very dry on top. Things sit and desiccate. I took a taste, it seemed fine, and I ordered some. Also bought some fruit and yogurt for the next morning. Returned to my room, took out some sealed crackers and ate the chicken salad, with unopened bottled water. About 2 hours later, I was ill. Did not put 2 & 2 together until the next morning, when I saw the chicken salad had much liquid in the container, the result of the mayonnaise's breaking down. I drove back to the store, receipt in hand and waited 45 minutes for a manager to appear. In all fairness, the store was busier than I would have thought, for a weekday, small town, non-holiday. Still, they have NO customer service desk, booth, etc. So I stood among the cakes and pies, waiting. When finally a manager did come, he was apologetic and offered me a free soda. I said no, thank you. He swiped my debit card for the refund, and out of the change machine came coins. He said, sheepishly, the machine did not read the card properly. Really? Do not buy mayonnaise-based foods in the desert, in summer, anywhere. Maybe Subway. MAYBE. read more

This State Brothers is the PITS! Sadly it's your only option if you live in Cal. City and don't want to drive an hour to get groceries. One of the things you really have to watch for here is the produce. Most of the time it is rotten or close to rotten. Produce that has dates, pay attention to the dates! I can't tell you how many times I've picked something up and noticed it expired the day prior. If you're going into Lancaster or Ridgecrest your best waiting to get your groceries there. read more

So you could tell there was very little management on duty yesterday, (Oct 14th) the cashier Mockie didn't not say hello, or even give me a total to my transaction. She literally, and I kid you not-looked at me and said, "bag." Not even would you like a bag? Do you need a bag? Nope. Very disgruntled workers that don't greet u or tell u to have a good day even when I spend a lot there. Very bad produce, I noticed the mushrooms rotten like the people that work there, the younger girl in the glasses that never smiles and gives me nasty looks and is never nice.
