Shame on Stater Brothers. A clean cut young man was playing his guitar and singing outside the store away from the entrance and an employee asked him to leave the area. Ironically, they don't seem to have a problem with drug dealers and homeless people hanging around outside, only clean, cut young adults out, trying to make a few dollars to pay their bills. I completely understand why this particular Staters barely has a "3" rating. I complained yesterday, 04/26/26, to the manager about his staff. I won't include names because I provided this information to a new manager. I advised him that the cashier and the bagger (not sure of title) never greeted me. Instead, they gossiped about other employees. That is, making fun of other employees. I told him that I have had this experience with their staff on numerous occasions. But, this was the worst experience thus far. He said that this was the first time a customer brought this to his attention. Perhaps management should review Yelp reviews. read more

I used to stop at the stater Brothers every now and again on my way from work because it was convenient. But now I purposely go out of my way and drive 10 minutes down the road to Albertsons because the service here is so poor. Everyone always has an attitude and makes it seem like you don't wanna help you. but I literally just got off the phone with the deli department to see if they had any rotisserie chickens, and the guy was so rude. And even after helping me. I said thank you when he just hung up. not to mention their bathrooms are disgusting. One of the worst Stater Bros in Riverside. Customer service here is pretty much non existent. I'm constantly going in there to buy two or three items and I find myself waiting in line for over 10-20 minutes because they never seem to care if the lines are long and they only like opening two cash registers at a time. When you ask them to open another cash register due to the very long lines they get mad...This is a clown show. Hurry up and put in self check out already. What is going on with the fruit/produce section at this store? I'm so disappointed! The last thing I expect when I spend over $200 at the supermarket is to bring home fruit that is bruised and rotted. I'm deeply saddened and irritated. This is far from the third time I've had this experience which is why I'm now speaking out. I recall one occasion where I spoke to a checker complaining that some of the raspberries and blackberries had mold and was told it was impossible since a lot of the Stater managers lived in the area so they would ensure this store had the best selection. The meat department has the most unhappy people working there. No smiles no thank you, nothing but just a feeling like they are doing you a favor for shopping there. I have been there several times and shop there frequently and most of the employees, like the cashiers are generally helpful and friendly. Forget about the meat department, they act bothered when you order something. I hope management sees this and makes a change soon or I will drive further for better customer service. Just had a instacart delivery we were charged for (2) Truvia when we received one and charged for Hearts of Romain and they were not delivered plus some other issues. This is an ongoin problem with Stater Bros Canyon Lake. We used Instacart through the Pandemic and this was an ongoing problem when you contact Instacart to resolve issues or get a refund you get no where. From now on we are going to Stater Bros will not use Stater Bros Instacart. read more

I've been coming to this store since I was a little kid and it didn't used to be the way it is now. The hiring staff doesn't dig deep enough when trying to find potential hires because 2 individuals ( one being the cart boy and bagger named Gavin) and the other is a cashier that work in mainly one line which is #1. They have spread rumors at their workplace about me and my mother and continue to harass us whenever we are in the store. I live 2 miles down the road from them and would much rather travel a distance to go to the one on magnolia. This last year your produce has gotten so bad I will actually go to Albertsons and spend twice as much. Everything is from Mexico. So far I've bought strawberries with mold, 3 packs of cuties with mold, corn that was rotten and cauliflower with mold...I'm not going to drive back to return a $3.99 bag of cuties but it has happened so much this year I'm done. While I was shopping I seen 3 people without masks, 1 being an employee. It made my shopping experience anxiety ridden. I'm not the type to complain about anything but felt I needed to call corporate because there are people who are at risk if masks aren't worn and people are exposed to those with Covid . Corporate simply said if someone says they have a medical issue they don't have to wear a mask . So disregard all the people with actual medical issues that if exposed to the corona virus could be hospitalized or die? It's state mandated that masks must be worn in public . Went to checkout and got Diana A as our checker, she didn't say Hi or wouldn't even make eye contact, RUDE, the entire transaction. I even told her we had 4 sodas and she didn't even acknowledge me. I asked the store clerk if there was any fresher and she told me that they sold the product until 3 days after the expiration. My husband also bought a specialty bar cake from the bakery. Had groceries delivered yesterday and was extremely happy with the professional bagging of my order. Paper bag was in plastic giving a sturdy bag...items were bagged correctly and tagged with how many bags. I couldn't have done a better job bagging and I had 38 years experience in the grocery business. I went in there for a quick salad to buy for lunch, because it was on my way to work, and didn't have any options because they only had Cobb salad. So I looked for other healthy options but their selection was poor. Then I headed to the cashier and paid with a $100 bill only to be told that they didnt have change. Unfortunately I had forgotten my wallet that day and had no other option to pay, and they couldn't accommodate. On top of everything, the cashier was very rude and gave me attitude. Being a cashier at Stater Brothers must be pretty monotonous. I don't feel like I get that personal experience I get from Albertsons or Trader Joe's. For example, when checking out, it feels like the cashier is reading a script. How is your day, how was your experience. Those questions are great, but when I reply, it's almost as if I'm being ignored. Sometimes, the cashier will totally ignore me and hold a full personal conversation with the person bagging my groceries. Buying alcohol can almost be as bad as going through a security check at LAX. Sometimes they ask your age, others it's ID, and they still want you to say your age. Kind of a joke, as if they can't add. The customer service really isn't that great, but the prices seem to beat a lot of their competitors. I always stop by this location when visiting my friends who live in Woodcrest. I hate that they don't have a fresh bakery. If we want something sweet we want it fresh. I'm a simple person and have simple needs. I do enjoy shopping fancy gourmet markets on occasion, but it's not a necessity for me. Just give me the basics and get me in and out of the store in an expeditious manner and I'm good to go. Now, if you want to eat healthy, you've got to learn to shop healthy. Many years ago I took a course in nutrition and learned a neat little trick for healthy shopping (it also gets me in and out of the store much quicker). It's simple: avoid the aisles. The aisles are where you'll find the chips, cereals, canned goods, frozen foods, ice cream and candies... basically, all the stuff that tempts the taste buds but lacks in nutritional value. The temptation is too great for most people - it is for me - so I avoid the aisles whenever possible. Outta sight, outta mind. Thankfully, most grocery stores are conveniently laid out for those wishing to shop healthy. Around the perimeter you'll find the essentials: produce, meats, dairy goods, breads and many times even fruit juices. Of course, you will need to wander down an aisle once in a while. I often find myself wandering in the spice aisle... and I have a weakness for ice cream. Ahh... the ice cream... Okay, enough small-talk. One would think that after visiting a certain business hundreds of times, one would eventually find something to complain about. I honestly can say I've never had a single legitimate complaint at this location. They seem to have an extra-helpful staff here; they're always busy stocking shelves if not helping out at the check stand. That's good management. And that's why I'm giving this store a better-than-average rating. I'm very stingy on rating any business, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. Friendly and helpful staff. Fresh produce, fresh meats and fresh dairy products. Well-stocked shelves... and they always call for backup cashiers when needed. I've noticed that this location employs several people who stand out; natural team-leaders. They have very positive attitudes and extraordinary work habits. That can be, and in this case is, contagious. The entire team does the best they can with what they have... and they seem to enjoy themselves while doing it.
