I have never had a problem ensuring the driver is aware of a passwordso that i can ensure i was am getting a cab from the firm i have ordered from, which is important when getting one from outside the Brookfield Centre as there are a lout of 'scouts' waiting to catch people finishing their shopping. The prices are fair and generally i am charged the same price for the same journey on most occassions. When i have been charged more i politely mention that i usually pay this price and the drivers usually say 'ok'. I am a very nervous passneger and the drivers i have had are always careful and chatty if you engage them first, which always helps me enjoy my cab ride! When I needed a cab last week, I googled cabs in Hoddesdon and just dialed the first listing that stood out to me. And I got Phil at Tower Taxis. Phil is prompt and Phil is friendly. Both are excellent qualities in a cabbie. But the best thing about Phil is the prices. I found him to be slightly lower than other local services. On one occasion Phil quoted me a price for a trip out of town. When he actually took me there the next day, he found himself to be WAY off the mark--about £20! Instead of being an ass and charging me what the meter said, he allowed me to pay what he quoted the night before. I found this very refreshing as I've been screwed over by cabbies in the past (yeah, I'm talking to YOU All American Taxis in Chicago). Thanks, Phil. I'll be ringing you up again soon!

It was my first visit to the UK and he was quite interesting to talk to and I really enjoyed having him answer my many questions and comments! The car was beautiful, clean and comfortable and drove like a dream. The company prides itself on its timeliness, courtesy and safety in thick London traffic and it shows. We loved the conversation, but the company & drivers make it known that if you'd prefer quiet that's absolutely fine. Either way you'll enjoy the ride. "Costa" our first driver was exceptional. Everything else went downhill fast. We pre-booked several trips with Oakwood for our short visit to England. Out of the four bookings, one was missed completely and had to be re-booked at the last moment. On another of the bookings, they sent a car that wasn't big enough for the four of us and our baggage. Another car had to be requested while we waited. All of our communications with Oakwood was done initially through emails with specific details as to the number of people and the amount of luggage. Even with this done weeks in advance, Oakwood was still able to screw up the logistics and cause confusion. I would suggest using another service, any service other than Oakwood. We certainly will on our next trip.

I have used this company lots over the past few years and they are always prompt, friendly and know exactly where they should be going. I know that should always be the case with taxis but in London it's a rare thing when it comes to mini cabs. Even when other companies have quoted me an hour to get to me these fellas have said 'no problem' and been there in 10 minutes. At the London Field Day festival, they helped me and my friend get home for a snip of the cost of the other places near Victoria Park and we only wait about 15 minutes. To be fair, they are good for local pick ups and drop offs. and actually good for going to airports. but their problem is the pick up from the airport plus the very arrogant attitude of some drivers, one of them definitely had some anger issue! Last week I booked a cab from abroad to be picked up from heathrow. when I arrive at the baggage reclaim, the cab driver calls me and says that he is going to take another 30 mins. I'm actually a patient person so I just said ok. I go out to the arrival and call the driver after 30 mins, he said that he will be late for another 5-6mins, and tells me to come to the 'drop off' area, which I had no idea where it was. I asked around dragging my suitcase, but no one seemed to know, so I waited outside the arrival near the taxi area for another 15 mins. still no sign of my cab turns out that the driver didn't have any credit on his phone and couldn't call me. very professional. I found out that he was on the departure level drop off. I had to go 3 floors up, he is still not there, takes him another 5 mins to appear in front of me. He did apologies but the tone of his voice is not especially sorry and just made excuses rather angrily. His driving was dangerous, rough and speeding way to fast. I expected some sort of discount, as I waited almost 1 HOUR after an 13 hour flight and used my mobile to call the driver about 5 times. but he refuses to give any discount. I called the office and they spoke to the driver, tells him to give me 2 POUNDS off. I thought they were joking but they were dead serious. I lost my energy to argue and just paid him 45 pounds that he did not deserve. When I turned away, I could hear him saying something rude to me. very disappointing as a loyal customer NEVER EVER AGAIN.
