I thanked him and began wandering up and down the aisles. I love hardware stores because they're filled with stuff that, when you see whatever, you think you can do something with it. They had a beautiful paint selection area and lots of little things like screwdrivers, axes, things like that. Anyway, the two people working there yesterday were very friendly and, if I lived nearby, I would probably try this place before I went to Home Depot or Lowe's since I prefer to spend money with "the little guy" rather than the big corporations. I will look online for a saw blade, drill bit, etc... and decide to pay the extra few cents and save on time and gas. Guess what?... they are always in the ballpark or better prices. Also a great place to exchange propane tanks. Fast and easy! No standing in a line and groveling for an employee to help you. Lastly, every time I need help with finding something, I never have to ask, I am always approached first, and usually by the owner. The bonus is, they often give instructions to make the job simpler. Aside from my personal opinion of supporting small businesses, I can assure you, those big box stores will not and cannot give you the service and expertise you will receive at this hardware store.

Allow me to elaborate on today's experience. I walk into Lowes -Mt. Olive and head straight back to the appliance dept. I am looking for a new stove. An employee, we will call him "H" is assisting another customer. I stand nearby, never greeted or even noticed. I eventually say excuse me is there another employee in this department that can help me, "H" says, "yeah, he's around here somewhere" rather than him calling the other employee, I have to go on a damn scavenger hunt. The hunt turns up nothing. I return to the counter where "H" is still assisting the other customer who is now on the phone contemplating whatever purchase they are considering. I say to "H" can you call the other employee? He says, yeah... Like really? You could have done that all along? humph.. The other employee replies to the call after "H'" says there is a woman here needing help. The other employee replies, "Yeah, in a minute" Wow!! I wait around for a few more minutes, never to meet the other employee, I eventually say to "H" whelp Home Depot gets my money; "H" replies "okay, bye" I then go to the front desk to ask for the manager, giving a snippet of my experience today to the employee at the counter. A manager is called but again after a few minutes of waiting never comes up. I tell the employee at the counter, thanks and please let your manager know that they can read the review here, just like the rest of you. @Lowes-train your people @Lowes-poor customer service is not acceptable

We rarely need to make returns, but we just had a recent instance of having to return 5 bags of polymeric sand because we decided to have the job done by a contractor. I saved the receipt and my husband went to the store to return the sand. It was a VERY UNPLEASANT experience to learn that there is a 90 day window on returns (with receipt) and NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED FOR A RESELLABLE ITEM such as polymeric sand! Needless to say, we have made our LAST purchase at Lowes and I will be sharing this VERY NEGATIVE experience EVERYWHERE I can.

That being said there are alot of bargains to be found here you just gotta know where to look. Don't let the breakaway sawzall blades and shattered drill bits scare you off, just head over to the safety aisle and grab up a pair of protective work gloves and some safety glasses which are coincidentally and conveniently alot cheaper here than at any of those big box stores.            And while I wouldn't exactly trust buying any big ticket rechargeable power tool kits here, I have grabbed up some decent deals on contractor garbage bags that could definitely come in handy in the unfortunate event that you did purchase any of these "one and done" tool kits. The same can be said for any of their pneumatic tools too only the failure mode with these is usually more of an exploding air hose, but no worries because duct tape is very affordable here so a quick fix across the ruptured hose and they'll be good as new, Lol!!     In all seriousness tools are directly related to my bottom line so I'm alot tougher on them than maybe someone else would be. And when all is said and done this place really does sell some pretty cool stuff at very affordable prices and in today's economic shituation we find ourselves in, that just might be their greatest offering in the entire tool box.
